[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 152450] New: PostgreSQL JDBC: Creating query - table alias is always appended by GUI, special settings wont work here

2022-12-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=152450

Bug ID: 152450
Summary: PostgreSQL JDBC: Creating query - table alias is
always appended by GUI, special settings wont work
here
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.4.3.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Base
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: rob...@familiegrosskopf.de

Open a JDBC-connection to PostgreSQL.
Create a query by the GUI.
Switch design view off.
Code is like this:
SELECT * FROM "public"."Table1" "Table1"
There is an alias for "public"."Table1".

Close the editor (query isn't needed any more).
Go to Edit → Database → Advanced Settings → Special Settings
"Append the table alias name on SELECT statements" isn't set.
You could set this or unset this - there is no difference while creating a
query in GUI.

This isn't only a "cosmetical" problem, because of
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=130376
An autoincremented value won't be shown in PostgreSQL if query is created with
an alias.
Every time you open a query in Design mode the alias will be set. So you have
to change to direct SQL code and remove the alias to get a query, which will
run with autoincremented values.

The commit from comment 23 looks completely unrelated to this, and probably
just shows up here because of a typo in the bug number in the commit message.

Sorry, but anchor 'To paragraph' 'To a character' 'As character' don't serve
for what you want. So the image stays on the same position of the text.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 152448] New: Opening PDFs in DRAW= EDITING, FILEOPEN, FORMATTING

2022-12-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=152448

Bug ID: 152448
Summary: Opening PDFs in DRAW= EDITING, FILEOPEN, FORMATTING
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.4.1.2 release
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Draw
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: s...@fellpaul.fi

Description:
1) when I drag and drop a PDF into Draw, it comes in as an image, that cannot
be edited
2) when I open the same PDF via the "Open file" function, then it opens the
document, and also shows data that was hidden, probably text that was on
another layer in the creator's working document.
3) fonts change, making the PDF appear different to the original.

Steps to Reproduce:
1) when I drag and drop a PDF into Draw, it comes in as an image, that cannot
be edited
2) when I open the same PDF via the "Open file" function, then it opens the
document, and also shows data that was hidden, probably text that was on
another layer in the creator's working document.
3) fonts change, making the PDF appear different to the original.

Actual Results:
1) when I drag and drop a PDF into Draw, it comes in as an image, that cannot
be edited
2) when I open the same PDF via the "Open file" function, then it opens the
document, and also shows data that was hidden, probably text that was on
another layer in the creator's working document.
3) fonts change, making the PDF appear different to the original.

Expected Results:
Regardless of whether I I drag and drop or open via "Open file", I would like
to have the same appearance and editable data.
Sometimes when opening PDFs in Adobe Acrobat Pro, if your PC does not have a
font in the PDF, the programme asks you which fonts to use to replace the
missing ones.

Reproducible: Always

Description:
I have a title where lower-case letters become small capitals. However now when
I add numbers to the title they are very tiny and I can find no way to make
them normal size. If I go to edit style and click on "functionalities" it gives
me choices including lowercase to small capitals, but if I choose that the
numbers go tiny. This never happened before.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Choose a title and edit style, choose police (it's French) and
Fonctionnalités.
2.Click on 'minuscules vers petites capitales'
3.click OK OK

Actual Results:
Any numbers in the title become tiny.

Expected Results:
The numbers should be normal

(In reply to Michael Weghorn from comment #3)

I still took a quick look:

The message comes from here:
https://git.libreoffice.org/core/+/78b5195d8add0679263a5e08ba34be9b27637a65/vcl/source/window/accessibility.cxx#451

I don't see anything obviously suspicious in Window::SetAccessibleDescription
itself.

Grepping where this is potentially called gives:

> $ git grep SetAccessibleDescription

> vcl/source/window/menu.cxx:void Menu::SetAccessibleDescription( sal_uInt16
> nItemId, const OUString& rStr )
> vcl/source/window/window2.cxx:SetAccessibleDescription(rValue);

and then there are several call sites calling these, so without being able to
even reproduce the warning, it's hard to say what's going on.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 152446] New: Not able to "cat" the text contents of .xls or .ods files to stdout.

2022-12-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=152446

Bug ID: 152446
Summary: Not able to "cat" the text contents of .xls or .ods
files to stdout.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.5.0.0 alpha1+
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: tagwerk19.documentfoundat...@innerjoin.org

SUMMARY

Not able to "cat" the text contents of .xls or .ods files to stdout.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

Installed the LibreOffice dev 7.5 version

Downloaded test files from https://bugs.kde.org

baloo_test_Libreoffice_7.4.2.3.doc
https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=153915
baloo_test_libreoffice.ppt
https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=153918
baloo_test_libreoffice.xls
https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=153919

And try to stream the contents the file to stdout, in this case
comparing the behaviour of .doc and .xls:

$ libreofficedev7.5 --cat baloo_test_Libreoffice_7.4.2.3.doc
$ libreofficedev7.5 --cat baloo_test_libreoffice.xls

OBSERVED RESULTS:

$ libreofficedev7.5 --cat baloo_test_Libreoffice_7.4.2.3.doc
This worked, the text contents were displayed.

$ libreofficedev7.5 --cat baloo_test_libreoffice.xls
Failed with:

at
/home/tdf/lode/jenkins/workspace/lo_gerrit/tb/src_master/sfx2/source/doc/sfxbasemodel.cxx:1789)

The test also failed after the .xls was saved as an .ods

EXPECTED RESULTS:

It's possible to "cat" an .xls or .ols file to stdout in the same way as
a .doc or .odt file

It is not expected that spreadsheet formatting is preserved; it is
"streaming text" and not streaming a converted CSV format.

VERSION:

$ libreofficedev7.5 --version
LibreOfficeDev 7.5.0.0.alpha1 8f34b0d40e149b7274a1aa4ce0b33ddbf825ee52

The dev version was tried after reading Bug 150846, don't know
whether this is a long established bug or a recent regression

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Trying to convert the.xls/.ods to a text file also fails:

$ libreofficedev7.5 --headless --convert-to "txt:Text (encoded):UTF8"
baloo_test_libreoffice.xls
javaldx: Could not find a Java Runtime Environment!

at

Whereas trying to convert to a .csv file works, albeit with a
"cannot get output device" warning:

$ libreofficedev7.5 --headless --convert-to "csv"
baloo_test_libreoffice.xls
javaldx: Could not find a Java Runtime Environment!

With this version, let's create a document (Writer or Impress) and insert an
image which appears in ~300 dpi (jpeg 404 KiB in my example).

Then go to the contextual menu on the image and select "compress".

If you select the "reduce image resolution to:" checkbox and the 600 dpi
resolution and press the "ok" button. Then you get a 600 dpi image (jpeg 1165
KiB in my example).

My point is that the words "reduce image resolution to" are wrong. If it were
reduced, the original image would at least remain intact.

Thanks for testing again. Closing as WORKSFORME for now then.

> But - I saw what I saw, which I'd argue is enough of a reason to have a dev

Without having taken a look yet: Often, there are many different code paths
that something can be reached and the LO code base is rather complex, so at
least my personal focus is on other tickets - in particular given that the
message by itself has no impact on end users but is "just" a warning.
For a11y for example, there is for example meta bug 101912 with more than 200
tickets in the dependency tree.

Of course, if a developer wants to look into this, that's fine, but to be
honest, I currently don't see much value in keeping this ticket open for that
purpose unless somebody is actually planning to do so.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 152445] New: Ability to anchor an image to a relative page within a chapter

2022-12-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=152445

Bug ID: 152445
Summary: Ability to anchor an image to a relative page within a
chapter
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.4.3.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: rferr...@sccoast.net

Description:
Anchoring an image to a page is not useful if an author adds pages to the
document before that page. it messes up the entire flow of the document. A user
working on a chapter may want to anchor an image to a page but ensuring that
does not change if the page count before that changes. So, if there is an
option to "anchor to a page relative to the start of the chapter", then the
user can add all the pages they want before that chapter and the image will
anchor to the chapter. I am working with a 1,600 page document and there are
images I want to specifically anchor to a page in that chapter but I will not
be able to do that until the end. It very much fragments the work flow.

I testesd this time with LO 7.4.2.3.
In table design view
I changed some field types in the test table and it works as it should:
-> the fields are deleted and appended at the end with the new type.

I also tried to change the type of the field, which is part of an index.
-> this change was rejected without a crash. --> also OK

Now that I have installed LibreOffice 7.5 Dev, I expected it will work without

About two minutes later (after recovery), I could find a file newly created. I

way to go to all entries one at a time. It would benefit an end user using such

Description:
It would be nice to have an option in Options=>writing aids=>options that lets
you specify the minimum length of words to ignore. When working with a lot of
equations (text based ones) with a variable and a subscript (that's a 2 letter
word) that gets marked as incorrect spelling. It would be nice to have the
spell check ignore these so that they don't have to be added to dictionary.
Another example would be a short equation such as "mgh" (potential energy). If
I could ignore words with less then 4 characters then both options would be
ignored by the spellchecker and much more convenient to work with. I understand
you have the option for check words with numbers and that is very convenient.
The requested feature is simply a further extension of the intent of that
option.

This is not the case. With PNG, and probably other graphical formats as well,
all layers export regardless of their printable/visible flag.

1. Created new Draw document.
2. Created layer "x" and drew a light-blue circle on it.
3. Created layer "y" and drew a dark-blue circle on it.
4. Cleared both the print and visible options on the Y layer.
5. Exported to PNG
6. Both layers rendered on the export.

pages
   Product: LibreOffice

  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: rferr...@sccoast.net

Description:
Switching between single page view and multiple page view remains at the page
you are on but when you select book view or page preview it goes to what seems
to be a random page. The same happens when in book view and you go to single or
multiple page view.
Also, when you exit page preview it would be nice if within the document it
exits at the page you are at. Instead, it seems to go to a random page just as
when switching views in the top paragraph. I am working with a 1,600-page
document and it makes it very clumsy to work with.

Actual Results:
You just have to switch page views in the bottom status bar.

Expected Results:
It goes to random pages.

This seems to be a separate issue. When the mouse moves over a toolbar icon in

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 150596] Libre Office crashes when opening a second document [macOS 13 Ventura]

2022-12-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=150596

I can confirm this with macOS 13.0.1, LibreOffice 7.3.2.2 on both Intel and Arm
machines (iMac 2019 Intel and MacBook Air 2020 M1). Also LibreOffice 7.4.3
Intel and Arm.

1) New Writer document
2) New Writer document
3) Switch to first document using Command+~
Note that the second (switched-from) document still has the window widgets
(close, minimize, zoom) active, while the switched-to document has these
inactive.
4) After a few seconds LibreOffice stops responding and must be forced to quit.

I do not get a crash in this situation simply by having 2 Writer documents
open.

1) New Writer document
2) New Writer document
3) Switch to first document (Untitled 1) using the Window menu
On M1, Untitled 1 window comes to the front and window widgets are
enabled/disabled properly. No crash
On Intel, Untitled 1 window comes to the front briefly then Untitled 2 window
comes back to the front. No crash.

1) New Writer document
2) New Writer document
3) Switch to first document (Untitled 1) by clicking in the window
Untitled 1 window comes to the front and window widgets are enabled/disabled
properly. No crash

All the above is the same when creating 2 new Calc documents.

I've opened LibreOffice in Safe Mode and the above still occurs.

Bug ID: 152439
   Summary: warn:vcl.gdi: ... vcl/source/outdev/font.cxx Font
fallback to the same font, but has missing codes
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.5.0.0 alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: eyalr...@gmx.com

Created attachment 184067
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=184067=edit
A Hebrew document using the David font family

When I open the attached MS-Word document in Writer, I get many lines on the
console saying:

warn:vcl.gdi:2567:2567:vcl/source/outdev/font.cxx:1064: Font fallback to the
same font, but has missing codes

and when I say "many", I mean 84.

Now, the document uses the "David" font family; and my Writer has a font
substitution from "David" to "David CLM", and it works.

There are several issues here:

1. Why print this message a zillion times? Once per document is enough. Or if
it's intended to relate to a single line, or paragraph, or text run etc - it
could mention it, e.g. "On page X paragraph Y line Z" or any other way to refer
to a piece of content in the document (e.g. "Nth text element in the document"
or whatever).

2. There is no fallback to the same font (that I know off) in this document, or
at all. How is that even possible?

3. The David CLM fonts do not have "missing codes" which are necessary for this
document

Actually, I am now not able to reproduce this sequence of messages.

But - I saw what I saw, which I'd argue is enough of a reason to have a dev
look at the logic for "setting the accessible description".

> Are you taking any specific steps or using a specific doc where this happens?

Nope, it was just starting LO. I think I start it with --writer .

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 152437] New: Align & Distribute multiple inserted images within a Writer document

2022-12-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=152437

Bug ID: 152437
Summary: Align & Distribute multiple inserted images within a
Writer document
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.4.3.2 release
  Hardware: ARM
OS: macOS (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: pba...@gmx.com

Description:
Forgive me if this has been mentioned elsewhere. Of course it could be because
I am a newby to LibreOffice, but IMHO the one thing that would improve
LibreOffice Writer, especially when dealing with multiple images placed in to a
Writer document, would be the ability to select all the placed images and then
use the align and distribute functions! Unfortunately, there does not seem to
be anyway to select multiple inserted images within a Writer page or document.
The only way I was able to complete the said task was to place the images in to
a Drawing Document, select them all, then use the align and distribute
function. I then grouped the images and copied and pasted them into my Writer
document. This is such a basic function used by many people writing reports,
that it is either a bug or a gaping omission! If Libre Office Draw has this
capability please make it so in LibreOffice Writer.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Insert multiple images in to a writer document
2.Try to select multiple images using Shift key/ or Command key by a click on
each image
3. Failed to select multiple images Resort to using LibreOffice Draw to do
the required task
4. Copy aligned and distributed images from Draw
5. Paste in to Writer document.

Actual Results:
As above

Expected Results:
My workaround works but it should be a basic function available in Writer.
It should have the same facilities as many other word processing applications
such as MS word, Pages etc

Give the user the ability to align and distribute inserted images (multiple
images on the same page or a whole document) within a Writer document without
having to jump through hoops!

Reproducible: Always

Thanks Mike
I'm unsure where I should respond to your response, so I have done so here.
I'm still getting the same issue. I've even assigned the key to the same key
you have (ie OPTION +S).
There is one notable difference depending on whether the doc is old or new doc.
In an old document (i.e. in a previously saved doc with text previously saved),
the issue is the same as previously. In a new document, the voice to text
appears to work, but there is a 15 second lag between completing the vocals and
seeing the text.
When you request a system report, how should I convey that, using a screenshot?
If so where do i attach a screenshot.

One Thousand Apologies for all of my techno-nincompoopery!

Graham
