Dear Ferry Toth,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,

I noticed running this multiple times inserts multiple page numbers. That's
logical, but not ideal. As we make it more complex, it gets harder to
determine, so probably this "oddity" can just be ignored.

I would have expected a wizard to offer some advanced features as well:
-select the type of numbering: roman in particular being a common option.
-of course, the user could also double-click on the field to change this
-(I didn't know about that until I tried it just now.)

-starting page number: especially important when switching from roman numbering
to "Arabic" numbering as is commonly done from index pages to main content.
-this will be complicated though, because it requires a page break.
-actually, some of this is already handled by Format - Title Page.
-double-click on field also offers (poorly worded) "offset" to handle this.

-ability to select different types of numbering (i.e. page 1 of 3 as requested
in comment 10)
-the " of " becomes problematic though because it needs to be localized
(although it is just text, so the user can modify it by hand easily enough once
it is in the footer).
-just including a tick box to "include total page count" would make me
happy.

Bug ID: 152906
Summary: Text adjust to contour broken in recent draw/impress
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.4.3.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Draw
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: sergio.calleg...@gmail.com

Description:
In the past, setting text properties to "adjust to contour" used to let you
shape a piece of text according to a shape, for instance as a circle.

This functionality seems broken as of Libo 7.4.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Draw

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 152724] FILESAVE FORMATTING Cell custom Format Code with _- (UI visible space width) and ? (optional digit space placeholder) is not saved correctly

2023-01-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=152724

(In reply to Eike Rathke from comment #5)
> That "UI visible space width" is not defined/supported by ODF

> OpenDocument-v1.3-os-part3-schema.html#__RefHeading__1416346_253892949
> hence is replaced with a literal space when saving.

So, IIUC, there seem to be several steps needed:

1_

> The ?0 apparently isn't supported either, currently it's saved as
>
>number:min-integer-digits="0"/>
>
> hence loaded as #
>
> That should be at least number:min-integer-digits="1" for the 0.

That would be a first step, IIUC (i.e. whatever is already supported, correct
the "translation" to be as "accurate" as possible).

2_ Add the relevant information / details in the Help and wiki text about which
codes are currently supported by/for .xls* format (i.e. when originally saved
first as .xls* file) and which ones are supported by/for .ods format.

>
> For everything else an ODF file format extension would be needed.

3_ That would be step(s) 3+. Follow all the procedure(s) required so as to
effectively implement the codes that are currently not "translated"
appropriately (and their _combinations_), such as:

0 (zero)
? (question mark)
_ (underscore)

as they are present in the official LO Help, to be at par with .xls* file
format.

If it is not with their own bug reports, I am not sure how all these different
steps should be managed so as to not let them fall between the cracks
(especially since this one has no assignee yet).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 152720] Spreadsheet closes while scrolling thumb

2023-01-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=152720

> What do you mean by "grab the thumb"?
> Please also try with the more recent version of LibreOffice 7.3.7, as many
> bugs have been fixed since 7.3.2.

The shaded rectangle in the scroll bar on the right side of the spreadsheet
that shows your current position in the spreadsheet is commonly referred to as
the "thumb". You click and hold on it with your mouse and then drag it up or
down to quickly reposition to anywhere in the spreadsheet. That is what I'm
referring to. You don't have to keep the mouse pointer on the thumb while you
do this, and while moving long distances is apparently when the program shuts
down.

I'm currently on a cruise and am using my laptop. I have tried to reproduce the
issue on this computer and can't. I use the trackpad on the laptop rather than
a mouse so that may be the difference.

When I return home I will update my software on my desktop and see if that
makes a difference.

There's now a dialog for easy insertion of page numbers to header/footer in
master, through Insert->Page Number...

If you want to insert a Page Number field you can still do it through
Insert->Fields->Page Number or the Insert->Fields->More Fields... dialog.

I think this bug can be marked solved.

The context menu for any style in the Styles sidebar has the "Modify..."
option, but it does not match the Styles menu item or the Paragraph Styles
toolbar dropdown (both "Edit Style...") or the Style dialog ("Edit Style"
button next in the Organizer tab).

The UNO command is .uno:EditStyle and has the label "Edit Style (Alt+P)".

Steps:
1. Open Writer or Calc
2. Open Styles sidebar (F11)
3. Right-click on any style

Result:
Item is "Modify...".

I am completely unable to account for this, though I know computing well enough

Thanks for testing. Shame that that regression doesn't account for the whole of
the lag you noticed.
Given that I can't reproduce, if you want to help further (and can clearly see
the difference even without the status bar), you could try bibisecting the
issue. It helps us identify exactly the commit that introduced the issue.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 146445] Change behaviour of anchor to character in an empty paragraph (see comment 15)

2023-01-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146445

Created attachment 184510
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=184510&action=edit
Screencast (gif)

I aware reviving a bug isn't really appreciated. However the fix for bug 120469
is resulting in a disturbing user workflow, IMHO. The side-effects of the fix
are not outweighing the benefits, if you ask.
I do see bug 120469 as a valid request, though. However the side-effect are
making me question if it should be fixed this way. I’m often in a fight with
Writer.

Press Enter with cursor at the beginning of paragraph with text or an empty
paragraph, and image anchored to that paragraph, causes number of effect:

* adds paragraph above the image (surprise). Normally a paragraph being added
below
* the cursor doesn't move; still at the bottom . Normally the cursor moves with
to the newly created paragraph, so downwards (surprise).
* You can set Wrap to Optimal, the paragraph will go the side, but you’re
unable to press Enter, to add additional paragraph next to the image
* You can't press Enter in table cell (to add paragraph below)
* Press ALT+ENTER below an image, will include the image (if the paragraph
empty)

See screencast.

All those issues didn’t exist before the bugfix for bug 120469.

What is bug 120469 about. Idea: pressing Enter at the start of the paragraph
(33 33) to move 33 33 down (creating an empty paragraph between 22 22 and 33
33) including moving the image anchor.

Anchor will only be included if you place the cursor explicitly at the start of
the paragraph. If you move cursor one step to the right (if text pressed) (LTR)
& hit enter it will create paragraph below.

In case of empty paragraph start & end of the paragraph being the same thing.
And Enter (to add new paragraph) is handled as if pressing Enter at the start
of the paragraph. It’s always at the start of the paragraph. Without any means
to switch to the ‘end’ position.
And pressing enter in an empty paragraph with image anchored to it isn't that
uncommon.

By inserting a comment box into an empty paragraph, a distinction is made
between, start & end of the paragraph. The paragraph is visually still empty,
but the behavior changes. If you click inside paragraph with the mouse, you
will be in ‘end’ position. Only if you press arrow left you move to ‘start’ of
paragraph position.

I see two solutions:
A) revert the commit bug 120469 (this has been present for years :-)
B) Mimic the behavior, as if a comment comment box where present in the empty
paragraph. In that case you really need to press arrow left to go beginning.
This should be limited to case of empty paragraph. This would solve the issue
in the majority of the cases.

Description:
The LibreOffice's bibliography editor is very trivial to use and isn't flexible
enough for most works. It would be interesting to be able to use (or at least
import) .bib collections as bibliographies. It would also be cool to be able to
set a different bibliography in a document rather than being forced to use the
editor's standard global bibliographic collection (or other global
collections), like using a linked .bib (or any other format) or, at least,
set/use an internal bibliography local to the document.

Steps to Reproduce:
Open "Tools" > "Bibliography Editor"

Actual Results:
The bibliography editor shows up

Description:
If an autofilter pane is open and a text string has been entered into the
"Search items" then it is not possible to continue typing text into the search
box following a "diversion" to another app or website. Even typing this
diatribe into the bug report has deactivated the box.
The filter requires to be closed either by cancelling or focusing elsewhere in
the sheet and then re-selecting the autofilter button before the search box
will again "open for business"

Steps to Reproduce:
With the attached sheet open the filter at C2 and enter enough of a string into
the Search box to create a selection of available items.
Without exiting the search box, come to this bug report and add a genuine
reason as to why it's a figment of my own imagination.
Move your mouse cursor back to the "focused" search box and try to finalise the
search criteria.
You'll notice that the cursor bar re-animates the moment the mouse enters the
zone but it will not permit interaction.
Exit the filter
reactivate the filter
enter a new search

Hi,
i've tested with Formula Bar disabled and it definitely improves the speed.
Overall 7.0.6.2 is still faster with cell entry then everything >=7.1.0.0 but
the Formular bar made >50% speed improvement.

So i would confirm that this has something to do with the speed decrease.
It brings the newer Versions (at least with the calc spreadsheet size i used
for testing) in the region of having a workable speed on an older machine.

I would continue testing with bigger spreadsheets as i have the impression that
overall performance drops there additionally the more content is in the file.
And i would appreciate if you look further what could slow down the versions
after 7.1.0.0, as the speed from 7.6.0.2 was awesome compared to newer
versions.
But never the less, disabling Formular Bar is a bit step forward.

Thanks.

Mike, copying you in as this could be a follow-up from:
- https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/111825
According to this comment:
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=136762#c29

Would be great if someone who can reproduce the issue can test if it indeed
started from versions 7.1.3 or 7.2.0. (And just test with older versions anyway
to see if this issue is a regression.)

Rainer reproduced in 7.2 according to comment

This new(?) issue is described in bug 148647. Given the number of comments, and
the change in symptoms, let's keep this report closed and follow up in that
one.
If it is indeed a regression from the two commits referenced here, we can mark
bug 148647 as such.

Thanks everyone.

I'm going to go ahead and mark this as a duplicate of the earlier bug 148647.
It sounds to me like it's exactly the same: on Windows 10, an attempt at
pasting content copied from an external app into LO results in pasting the
previous content copied from Calc.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=152480

Concerning your request for me to consult your first steps article: I allready
did the two first items in the article - before registering the bug. The other
items seem irrelevant.

Let me know if you still think I should focus on any of the other items -
number three through seven.

Concerning your reference to Oracle Jdk or Oracle Open Jdk:

4. Is the Oracle Jdk an official requirement of Libre Office?

Oracles web site for Java downloads is quite comprehensive.

5. Can you provide me with the link to the exact Java download that Libre
Office 64 bit requires for my Windows 10 64 bit pc?

I allready downloaded, installed and registered Oracle Java in Libre Office.
The Java settings form says 'Oracle Corporation' 1.8_351.

As mentioned in my previous posting, I was unsure if also the 'bin' director
should be part of the path in the registration. The article unfortunately does
not indicate this.

6. Is the 'bin' director supposed to be part of the path in the Java
registration of Libre Office? As mentioned in my previous posting, I tried both
with and without, but no difference.

This behaviour of Libre Office hanging for minutes and then resuming execution
is very odd to me.

7. Is there anyway I can turn on error tracing and logging in Libre Office? I
find no article about this.

I believe I set up everything completely and according to the articles. Our
dialogue has not made me think otherwise. But if you still believe that
something may be missing, I will of course check it.

These format codes are an Excel thing. For saving in ODF they are transformed
into an XML description of the properties of the format, the format code itself
is not saved; and when loading, a format code is assembled from the XML
elements. That ? and _x are preserved only for Excel file formats (until
implemented for ODF as well) should probably be mentioned in the help text.

> Do I understand your reply correctly?

> #0 is supported but
> ?0 is not supported?
Yes.

> And, if the underscore is not supported, then how built-in codes such as:
> #,##0_);(#,##0)

They are equally not, in ODF they get saved/loaded as
#,##0" ";(#,##0)

> > For everything else an ODF file format extension would be needed.
> Is _another_ (new) bug report needed for such enhancement request?
No. It means that we'd have to come up with an extension to the file format,
and if that works propose it to the OASIS OpenDocument Format standard body.

I wasn't able to reproduce with the 7.4.3.2 64bit MSI, installing on a USB
drive (D:).

Is Paul still able to reproduce?

--- Comment #4 from Stéphane Guillou (stragu)

I can't reproduce with the 7.4.3 64bit MSI from
https://www.libreoffice.org/donate/dl/win-x86_64/7.4.3/en-US/LibreOffice_7.4.3_Win_x64.msi

The "Install to:" path is displayed normally, and the Change button does work.
I was able to change the install location to my USB drive (D:).

- Do you have any component selected in the frame above? Or are both "Optional
Components" and "User interface languages" completely turned off? (Both with a
red cross). You need at least one language selected to install.
- What happens when you click "Next"?

Maybe a screenshot of the dialog would help.

Could be something related to Linux out of memory situation management. Have
you seen this since the original report?

Can you explain?
