Dear Robert,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Yes, we have most functions found in "data analysis toolkit" in Data ->
Statistics. And yes - just like Histogram in the "data analysis toolkit".

Hi Alexey

It looks like you first reported a Samba issue, then moved on to a WebDAV
issue, and finally talk about editing files inside an archive.
We try to have each report focused on a single, self-contained issue.
If you still have a problem with version 7.4 or 7.5 of LibreOffice, please open
a new bug report with steps to reproduce one specific issue, and detailed
version information.
I'll close this as "invalid" as continuing here would just add to the
confusion.
Thank you!

   |Behavior of Calc function |vector of an array if that
   |INDEX() in array-like cases |is only a vector, but only
   ||the first element

--- Comment #1 from Eike Rathke  ---
This is not a matter of load/save (adjusting summary).
Also, it's not about array formula vs non-array formula. The formulas in the
example document are explicitly stored as array formulas by Excel, hence Calc
correctly displays them in {} curly braces. It's also not that in Calc one
would have to enter an array formula for this MATCH() case to get a result if
INDEX() worked correctly.

It's simply that INDEX() does not return a column or row vector of an array
that is already a single column or row vector. E.g. with , comma as
array-column separator and ; semicolon as array-row separator:

=INDEX({1;2};0;1)
(all rows, column 1) should return {1;2} but returns 1

=INDEX({1,2};1;0)
(row 1, all columns) should return {1,2} but returns 1

=INDEX({1;2};0;0)
(all rows, all columns) correctly returns {1;2}

=INDEX({1,2};0;0)
(all rows, all columns) correctly returns {1,2}

=INDEX({1;2};1;0)
(row 1, all columns) correctly returns 1

=INDEX({1,2};0;1)
(all rows, column 1) correctly returns 1

=INDEX({1,2;3,4};0;0)
correctly returns {0,1;2,3}

=INDEX({1,2;3,4};0;1)
correctly returns {1;3}

=INDEX({1,2;3,4};1;0)
correctly returns {1,2}

For comparison, Google Sheets allows you to highlight a single column of data,
click Insert -> Chart, and it creates a Histogram immediately, by default. You
can then change the "bucket size" in the chart options, etc.

(It doesn't allow you to specify differently-sized "buckets" though, as desired
in bug 81530.)

CBC_AnchorPlacement.docx: The three frame should be in a straight line

The placement of the textboxes is not correct.

This is clearly seen in the coloured, third box which is horizontally out of
line with the others. (The first two are properly aligned to the page, not the
text). It should also be higher up - vertically aligned with the page as well.

The difference between them is that the first two are based on styles that
define w:vAnchor="page" w:hAnchor="page", but the last one has no w:framePr
definition at all.

This is all very interesting, because errata document indicates that:
The standard states that the default value of the hAnchor attribute is page.
->Word uses a default value of text for the hAnchor attribute.

Well, that is exactly what we are doing, and yet... it should be page after
all?

Steps to reproduce:
-open CBC_AnchorPlacement.docx

Notice the last textbox is far down and to the right. It should be directly
under the second textbox.

Drawing object becomes invisible

A drawing object is created in Draw and grouped as a single block. It is then
pasted into Writer. It is positioned at Bottom relative to Entire paragraph
area with Keep inside page boundaries checked.

When the anchoring paragraph is close to page bottom, the drawing is flushed to
next page but it becomes invisible.

A frame with identical settings remains visible across page break.

As explained in bug 154126, no frame style can be applied to a drawing object
though the settings are similar.

Both bugs may be related

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 154126] New: Writer: Drawing object not positioned at very bottom of paragraph

2023-03-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=154126

Bug ID: 154126
   Summary: Writer: Drawing object not positioned at very bottom
of paragraph
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.4.5.1 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: page74010...@yahoo.fr

Created attachment 185901
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=185901&action=edit
One line of paragraph text always below drawing object

Frames can be positioned anywhere in the page through the Position settings in
the Type tab.

One of the vertical positions is "Bottom" relative to some reference, either
Paragraph text area or Entire paragraph area (including spacing above and
below). "Bottom" option aligns bottom frame boundary either with bottom text
limit or paragraph bounding box bottom limit and wrap mode moves paragraph text
above the frame according to its setting.

Draw is used to create an image. This image is made a single block with the
Group command. It is copied and pasted into Writer. It is expected this drawing
object will behave as a frame (since the same settings can be applied) albeit
you can't apply a frame style to a drawing object.

The attachment shows that a drawing object can't be positioned at the very
bottom of a paragraph. There is always an orphan line below the drawing object.
Changing wrap mode has no effect. Choosing bottom alignment relative to
Paragraph text are or Entire paragraph area does not change the result.

Drawing object position should be controllable the same as frame, at least when
a single block is inserted.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 154125] New: [ FILEOPEN ] [ FILESAVE ] Behavior of Calc function INDEX() in array-like cases

2023-03-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=154125

Bug ID: 154125
   Summary: [ FILEOPEN ] [ FILESAVE ] Behavior of Calc function
INDEX() in array-like cases
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: adylo811...@gmail.com
CC: er...@redhat.com

I have a case for the INDEX() function in Calc that behaves differently than in
Excel.

In Excel, the INDEX() function can process arrays natively, meaning that it can
be introduced with [ENTER] and it doesn’t need CSE.

Apparently, this is not completely true for the INDEX() function in Calc. The
specific result (either an array, or one simple value, or an error) may also be
dependent on the second and third arguments too.

For an example (file), see the following tutorial about the INDEX() function in
Excel, which includes a publicly available file to download, linked within the
text "sample workbook".

* The file can be downloaded from the tutorial page ("sample workbook").

* The full tutorial starts at:
https://www.ablebits.com/office-addins-blog/excel-index-match-multiple-criteria-formula-examples/

* The second section of that same page of the tutorial, which explains how
Excel handles the relevant "non-CSE" formula, starts at:
https://www.ablebits.com/office-addins-blog/excel-index-match-multiple-criteria-formula-examples/#non-array-multiple-criteria

* The incompatibility can be seen in the file named
"index-match-multiple-criteria.xlsx" > worksheet "Non-array formula" > cell G4.

* In Excel, that formula is introduced with a simple [ENTER] and returns a
valid result. In Calc, it seems as if CSE would be required (extra curly braces
shown in Calc), and it returns Err:504, which is carried from the inner INDEX()
function.

* The link to the file is:
https://cdn.ablebits.com/excel-tutorials-examples/index-match-multiple-criteria.xlsx

(Just for the record, I have no connection to the site nor the products
whatsoever.)

I'm not quite sure I understand what this bug is about.

Does LO have a "data analysis toolkit"? Is this asking for some special wizard
for many statistical operations which also involves histograms?

I'd like like to just be able to generate histograms (= two-column bin,
frequency tables) from unbinned data, numerical or categorical. Is this the
right bug for that or should I open another one?

Tables are an important part of many presentations. Yet - Impress does not
allow us to animate:

* Rows within a table
* Columns within a table
* Cells within a table
* Text within cells within a table

In really should.

I realize that some of that some of these effects would depend on being able to
manipulate in-table objects distinctly from the entire table, and that would be
a dependency of complete animation support, but at the moment we have none.

LibreOffice calculates line height based on aspects of the font(s) used for the
characters on the line. However, occasionally, you may want to keep the line
height uniform despite the line containing a couple of characters in another
language, with the computed line height being different. You may not want those
characters to result in a discrepancy in the line height - even at the cost of
there being less space between the top of those characters and the bottom of
the previous line.

I would like to be able to mark such characters to be ignored for line height
computation.

This document was not fixed by bug 104420's 5.4 commit. Setting as new since I
can reproduce it. Also verified the bisect result.

--- Comment #18 from V Stuart Foote  ---
Presenting it on *First launch* (rather than the ToTD) has always been feasible
but continues to be a bit intrusive. And of course it has always been modal
independently for each LO module.

Some merit to use the View -> User Interface landing for all facets of Theming

But, in a sense its function now is exactly the interactive control, beyond
first launch pop-up, it needs to be. It is not clear that now adding additional
UI theming elements makes the most sense--the View -> User Interface selector
would get overwhelmed.

So where would we consolidate controls for theming LibreOffice?

Seems reasonable to add a "More..." link from the View -> User Interface, and
point it at a Tools -> Options panel. But which Options panel?

One can question if placement of the LibreOffice color theme (System | Light |
Dark) belongs on the Tools -> Options -> View panel "Appearance" control? That
was Caolán's prerogative as it was being implemented. But no requirement for it
to remain there.

Instead, note there is still much to be worked out to refactor the Tools ->
Options -> Personalization panel (bug 125217) moving appropriate controls from
other panels. That would be a reasonable landing.

Alternatively a User Interface "More..." could receive a complete new dialog
panel similar to the Help -> Restart in Safe Mode dialog to consolidate theming
and personalization configuration.

In short the MUFFIN centric 'User Interface' dialog is maybe not the best place
to pile on additional controls.
