[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 38093] Add an Outline View layout and editing mode to Writer
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38093 --- Comment #165 from Cougar Brenneman --- After seeing a couple of comments by garethsljo...@gmail.com, I was thrilled that the possibility existed that an outliner view had been added. So I upgraded to LibreOffice_7.5.3_Win, only to be completely disappointed. I will clearly have to keep using Microsoft Word until the day I die, probably. I'm so disappointed. There are a lot of nice improvements. But as a writer, I depend on outline view, and if I don't have it in LibreOffice, I can't use LibreOffice. It is absolutely a requirement for my method of work, and that has been the case since before Word was even a gleam in Microsoft's eye — in other words, in the 1980s. The outliner I was using prior to Microsoft Word was so useful that I would never have moved to Microsoft Word without it. Sorry, but I can't use your product. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 153285] EDITING: Constant crashing in CALC
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=153285 --- Comment #6 from Alex Thurgood --- Here's how I can generally get Calc to crash. Copy-paste a multiline text passage into a Calc cell. Try and change the default cell positioning from mid to upper, and then set justification to left via the toolbar buttons. Either when setting left justification, or moving the mouse to click on the Save button, is when the crash occurs. If I save the changes via the CMD-S keyboard shortcut when the mouse cursor is still in the cell and actively flashing, the crashes don't occur as often. The crashes seem to occur when I leave the cell and attempt to set an attribute via one of the toolbar buttons, or save the sheet. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38093 garet...@exemail.com.au changed: What|Removed |Added Status|CLOSED |UNCONFIRMED Resolution|FIXED |--- Ever confirmed|1 |0 --- Comment #163 from garet...@exemail.com.au --- # me-too As I write this, on the right hand side there is an option to 'Collapse All Comments' & to 'Expand All Comments' That alone demonstrates the value of Outlining/code folding: if it's so useful here, how is it not useful in our personal docs? I am using LO to write technical notes, migrating from the great but limited Kate. Several of Kate's scripting templates (eg 'python') have code folding. It is of inestimable value. The points about using Navigator are cogent, but it is just not the same. Outlining hugely improves navigation /within/ the doc. That works the way our minds do, providing memory cues as to the information within. It reduces the redundancy of swapping from keyboard to mouse. It keeps focus where it belongs: on the document. It reduces the partitioning of screen space. The amount of people requesting this, for well over a decade, the fact that it just refuses to go away, should be motivation enough. It is a large & valuable leap in utility. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=147879 --- Comment #10 from bunkem --- I wanted to rule out that there is a problem with the spreadsheet. 1) The file if saved to ODS shows the same #VALUE error when recreating the steps. 2) I opened the spreadsheet submitted with Excel 365. Excel deletes the columns and the formula calculates and shows the value correctly. Please note the formula in the cell W12 in the Excel screenshot and compare it to the formula in the Calc screenshot. The actual formula is correct in Calc even if it shows #VALUE. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=155228 --- Comment #2 from peter.wy...@pdfa.org --- Yes, the latest ISO 32000-2:2020 specification is available at no-cost for everyone: see https://pdfa.org/sponsored-standards/. This also includes errata and some new cryptographic extensions. Please stop using the ISO 32000-1 spec from way back in 2008! It is very very old, out-of-date, not entirely vendor neutral, and has many known issues that have since been corrected. Regarding needing a SPACE between the key "/Tab" and the value "/S": technically PDF does not need this as "/" is an explicit token delimiter (see sub-clause 7.2.3 Character set). Adding one won't hurt, only that it is unnecessary and will make the resultant PDF file just slightly larger (1 byte for each page). At first I implemented by updating the time AFTER a successful export, but revised it to be before the export based on your clear use case requirement. NICE: by default, when printing the document is NOT marked as modified. That was my biggest worry about implementing this. With that nuisance avoided, the pool of users who will object to having the print statistics "erased" by pdf exports will be very small indeed. The fact that MS Word does this as well should erase all concern (on my part). Proposed fix at https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/151682 The example PDF from comment 0 works nicely AFAICS.
