Dear Luke Kendall,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

type the right and bottom border would disappear after merging; for some other
(thicker) border type would make right border disappeared, but bottom border
still there just thinner.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start a new Calc spreadsheet
2. Mark a range (say, B3:F12)
3. Set up a border with outside only (no inner grid)
4. Merge these cells

Last version working for me:
Versión 3.6.7.2 (ID de compilación: e183d5b)

I think there is an option, but I can't find it.
In expert configuration, there is an option that doesn't help
org.openoffice.Office.Writer.Layout.Window.ShowScrollBarTips
But in Calc it shows the row number.

Clean profile doesn't help also.

Some other thoughts:
-ContextChangeBroadcaster::Deactivate doesn't run when
comphelper::LibreOfficeKit::isActive(). Is it really needed in the desktop?
-perhaps it would just be better to turn off the broadcaster(s)?
ContextChangeBroadcaster::SetBroadcasterEnabled

In any case, this bug needs to be handled by someone familiar with the
obviously flawed fundamentals. Bye...

I don't really understand what is going on here, but...
selection changed properly vcl/source/control/notebookbar.cxx:241:
::notifyContextChangeEvent[DrawPage]

but then the context changes to [default] when table deactivates. I assume the
activation comes from mrBase.AddSubShell(**iTargetShell);

There is no deactivation going from DrawPage -> Table.

If we can strategically (when nothing is selected) call
GetViewShellBase().GetDrawController()->BroadcastContextChange()
that would re-notify with the correct context.

Again, this problem does NOT present on any version of GNOME running an

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 155459] New: Point to the relevant section of Privacy Policy from the Options->LibreOffice->General help, "Send crash reports to The Document Foundation" section

2023-05-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 155459
Summary: Point to the relevant section of Privacy Policy from

reports to The Document Foundation" section
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified

 Component: LibreOffice

A user on IRC raised a concern about what is being sent in the crash reports,
and why is it not an option to disable sending them, during installation.

> By default, there is a on-by-default setting deep in the settings of
> Writer/LibreOffice which says "Send crash reports to The Document Foundation".
> This is never communicated and allowed to uncheck during the installation.
> This freaks me out. What "crash data" data is it sending if this is enabled?
> If it has anything to do with file names, file CONTENTS, or anything about my
> computer or myself, it's horrible.
> Since it's not mentioned and there is no "More info" or anything, I'm left at
> guessing. And I'm assuming the worst these days.

The respective help [1] should emphasize the (already mentioned there, but not
enough) fact that *when the option is enabled*, the user will be asked before
each send; and disabling the option disables the whole feature - but when
enabled, it will never send without additional request.

And the help should also point to the respective Privacy Policy [2] section
I.XI "Absturzberichte (crash reports)", which is the authoritative information
about what is sent, and how it is processed.

I've submitted the revert on gerrit here:
https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/152169

Still today, I don't understand how to manage accelerators. For example,
at a moment, I thought the goal was to remove the "~" which indicated the key
but how to be sure to have "Ctrl-C" to map copy command then?

So accelerator management must take into account:
- localization
- keyboard type
- OS (for Linux OS/Env : gtk/kde/others)
- least surprise (see above the Ctrl-C command)
- mimic MsOffice so people won't submit a new bug just for a different
accelerator
- potential conflicts for commands (like here)
- duplicates so we don't have to type several types the shortcut to reach the
one we want
(did I forget some?)

   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.3.4.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

 Component: Writer

  Reporter: plaldridges...@gmail.com

Description:
I clicked the 'Save' icon slightly before or after Writer had started the
autosave of the document. It went into a hard loop saving over and over. The
program would not respond to attempts to stop it (clicking the red x). I had
kill it with Task Manager and lost data. Upon restarting the program, it did
not find the lost data. BTW, I am running on Windows 8.1. I had noticed that
the autosave was acting strangely before this. It would appear to save the
document two or three times on each autosave.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Reload the document into Writer
2.Make a change and wait for autosave to start
3.Click the 'Save' button

Actual Results:
Could not reproduce.

Expected Results:
I would not expect the program to ever go into a hard loop that could not be
stopped without killing the program.

I have two versions of LO installed.
One is 6.1.5.2 because of Debian 10 has it and it cannot be removed as it is a
dependency to Gnome.
I also have 7.5.3.2 installed to use an up-to-date version.
The two together has some small, but annoying issues:

POP-UP
If I use the new version for the first time, I get a pop-up window with the tip
of the day and an information bar that I am using it for the first time, as I
guess it is designed.
If for whatever reason (file type linking to application not changed everywhere
to the new version, is the prime reason) I open the older version of LO (not
necessarily Calc, it can be e.g. Writer as well), next time when I use the
newer version, I get again the annoying pop-ups. I could not find a way to make
it "know" that I already use it.

TWO VERSION PARALLEL
If I have the older version open and try to open at the same time the newer
version, either using the favorites fast menu or the full list of applications,
I get still another copy of the old version. If I use the favorites quick menu,
the mouse hint pulling it over the icon even says 7.5, but it still loads the
old version. Similarly, when I use the full application menu, the name of the
icon is Calc 7.5, but runs the old version.
The opposite direction, i.e. first opening the new and then the old is the same
thing, i.e. I get a second copy of the new instead of the old.
What is also strange that if I only open the new from the favorites menu, (what
I have listed there, but the old one is not!), instead of getting it marked as
an active application (blue underscore of the icon in my set-up), I get back
the old icon in the favorites menu and THAT is marked as active.
It seems that the two versions cannot be started at the same time.

OPENING A SECOND DOCUMENT
However, from the above it seems that the two application launcher icons are
very closely linked, it is not entirely the case.
1. If I open a new spreadsheet with the new SW version from the favorites bar
and do not touch it and try to open a second, regardless if I do it (a) from
the favorites bar with the new icon, (b) from the favorites bar with the just
appeared (see above) old icon, (c) from the full application list with the new
icon or (d) with the old icon, I always get an Untitled2. Still, this is not
entirely the same. If the second is also opened with a new icon (either from
the favorites (a) or from the full list (c)), in the favorites the new icon
gets marked as active as well. If I open it with the old icon ((b) or (d) from
above), then still only the old icon remains marked.
2. If I open a new spreadsheet (no other open LO window before!) from the full
list of applications with the new icon and then try to open a second one
(again, without touching the first one), 3 out of 4 I get a new Untitled2,
except if I try to open it again from the full list of application with the new
icon, because in this case it does not open a new document, just brings the
first one forward.
3. If I open a new spreadsheet from the full list of applications with the old
icon and then try to open a second one, the opposite happens. 3 out of 4 I do
not get a new document. The only exception if I use the favorites bar, NEW
icon, in which case I get an Untitled2 but again, as said above with the OLD
software.

These are just annoying little things, this is why I put it minor. Maybe some
of it is not even LO but Gnome/gtk3 related, I do not know.
Also, this whole things would go away, if I could change in Gnome the
dependency to the new version and could remove the old version completely.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 155350] Autocorrect does not work in comments

2023-05-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=155350

This seems to be because there are two ways to input text, "directly" with key
press events and through the input method. And the AutoCorrect is only hooked
to the key press event case. Somewhere along the line gtk started preferring to
supply more via the IM.

In the main document situation we go through a big hack tower in
GtkSalFrame::IMHandler::signalIMCommit to see if something received through the
Input Method is something that could be represented as a single key press event
and if so send one of those instead. While those comments just forward the
input method data onwards without the second-guessing hackery.

Probably better to attempt to do AutoCorrect for text received through the IM
rather than continue trying to out-guess the IM and reroute to the older
mechanism

no backporting please - unless you are of the UI caliber of Szymon and are
certain there won't be unintended bad side effects. This seems like a
regression-prone area to work in.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 155455] New: Scroll continues when keyboard key is pressed for long and then released

2023-05-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=155455

Bug ID: 155455
Summary: Scroll continues when keyboard key is pressed for long
and then released
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.5.3.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: jollyt...@freemail.hu

I have the a.m. version installed as well as an earlier version (6.1.5.2
because of Debian 10 has it and it cannot be removed).
I found that the older version handles scrolling with keyboard (up and down
arrows) better than the new version. What I do:
Create a spreadsheet with 1 rows and 1 column. I select A1, press and keep
pressed the Down arrow. It starts scrolling. When I reach - about - row 200 I
release the button.
In the old version the scrolling stops immediately, as I expect it. In the new
version the scrolling continues as long as the keyboard buffer has data in it.
It stops around 300. Until I "just watch a movie" on the screen without being
able to stop it (Esc or alike).
The same with the PgDown, PgUp. If I push PgDown until I reach - about - row
5000, it continues to scroll to about row 8000.
In a large spreadsheet it is rather hard to find a given location through
scrolling, when it always overruns the target cell. So, unless it has a very
strong reason, I would prefer the old behavior.

Unfortunately the High Contrast [Automatic|Disable|Enable] toggles the entire
UI, while the current expert configuration 'TransparentSelection' affects the
limited but very impactful UI in rendering cell selection for both sheet cells
in calc and tables in writer.

At 7.5 users of os/DE provided HC modes are now better served with Automatic
detections. But for low vision users (and folks needing more obvious visual
ques, or just when suffering eye fatigue) discovering the
'TransparentSelection' in expert configuration is a challenge.

This is a useful UI setting that would be reasonable to provide via toggle from
the Tools -> Options -> Accessibility panel.

My -1 here was to adding to the already over stressed menu given that there are
other viable alternatives.

I think there is merit to providing indicator in UI of object centers, it just
does not have to be on the rulers (although it could). To keep the complexity
of the ruler widgets under control, to me using the help guides in conjunction
with dialog based object centering would suffice.

There are multiple BZ issues asking for UI visual indication of object center
to use for positioning. Suggestion was for a UX-advise driven effort to
consolidate and move forward with an implementation guide for dev effort.
