[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 124054] FIREBIRD: incorrect ASC order with varchar data

2023-06-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=124054

Isn't this one a feature request?

There should be executed
ALTER CHARACTER SET UTF8 SET DEFAULT COLLATION UNICODE
directly after a new Firebird database has been created.

Have forgotten this in last project and have to execute the SQL-code, copy and
paste the tables and reconnect the relationships. Nothing for a "normal user".

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 148544] Option to remove all whitespace in "Paste special" and other dialogs

2023-06-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=148544

(In reply to V Stuart Foote from comment #5)
> (In reply to Eyal Rozenberg from comment #4)
> > Why is it a common use case to want to remove all whitespace, as opposed to
> > trimming the heading and trailing white space? Convince me please...

FWIW...

If the request is to remove absolutely _all_ whitespace, then there is no need
to change anything; we can already do that by several methods.

If the request is to remove _repeated_ whitespace characters (e.g. reduce
multiple consecutive spaces to one), we can also do that by several methods.

>
> For the most part, when white space is included it is not desired--it

Sorry but… is there any source for such claimed statistic? Some use-cases might
require that behavior, and others do not.

> represents ill-considered formatting and bloats the strings being
> copy/pasted. That includes enclosing as well as included text runs of
> spaces.

Users could also mark the undesired character as separator in the import
dialogue and also check Merge delimiters. After that, concatenate the resulting
columns, if needed. That also eliminates _all_ whitespaces.

>
> Ability to suppress the paste of the unhelpful space runs, as opposed to
> having to do repeated find/replace sequences, is appealing.

There is no need to do "repeating" find/replace sequences. Select the relevant
area, and replace _all_, current selection only, searching for 2 consecutive
spaces (or whatever you want to replace) and replacing with only one (or none,
or whatever). Perhaps there is some case/need to repeat the action in some
particular case, but then using regular expressions in the "Find and Replace"
could help in this regard too.

If all the current alternatives are not enough, let's not forget that Calc is
not a text editor.

Many relevant requests for additional options in several different areas in
Calc have been rejected just to "avoid clutter" (and I disagree with that
reasoning). This time we have a request that has enough alternative solutions
already.

>
> Toggle is sufficient, but I would suggest suppression of white space should
> be the default.

Having the requested option set to ON by default would be a terrible idea.
Users then would ask why the import is now resulting in a different display
content than the content of their original (CSV) file, especially if they had
done the same import in the past. If you add an option for some particular
(advance) case, then (advance) users should take responsibility for acting on
such option. At most, you could make the option to be remembered within the
session after the user sets it to ON, but changing the current default behavior
with no good reason is bad practice.

@TomC, you changed the report from INSUFFICIENTDATA back to UNCONFIRMED, but
you still have not provided a spreadsheet file.

I would suggest making a copy of your file, and then modify the data and
minimize the content of the spreadsheet file just enough to replicate the
problem; eliminate anything unrelated. Please see

I'll mark this as NEEDINFO.

Dear Harald Koester,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 115968] CMIS: various protocol handling problems & incompatibilities

2023-06-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=115968

Dear Thorsten Behrens (allotropia),

Please try the following steps:
1. Open attachment 188090.
2. Display the autofilter list.
3. Immediately directly type the letter a [ENTER]

* A partial list is displayed accordingly.

4. Display the autofilter list again

* Only the items that are already displayed according to the filter are marked,
and the focus is located within the Search items field again, so you can now
type something else (which would replace the resulting list), or change the
check box status of any item.

> Why is it a common use case to want to remove all whitespace, as opposed to
> trimming the heading and trailing white space? Convince me please...

For the most part, when white space is included it is not desired--it
represents ill-considered formatting and bloats the strings being copy/pasted.
That includes enclosing as well as included text runs of spaces.

Ability to suppress the paste of the unhelpful space runs, as opposed to having
to do repeated find/replace sequences, is appealing.

Toggle is sufficient, but I would suggest suppression of white space should be
the default.

The filter is still ON in this version of the file that I've attached. I

Just like last time, it took me a while to remove. Turning off the autofilter
didn't do it, filtering for All in a column with unique field values didn't do
it, restarting the entirety of Libre Office didn't do it. (Also when I quit
Libre Office to restart, I got no prompt to keep or remove the filter, but that
might be a nice feature to have.)

Eventually I removed the filter by 'magically' filtering the correct column.
Now I don't remember which column it was because I tried several.

Thanks.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 140024] "replace custom styles" option in AutoCorrect should be removed

2023-06-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=140024

Looking at that checkbox, I really don't see how a user is supposed to
understand what it does. "Custom Styles" - is that Direct Formatting, or styles
the users has defined and named? If it's the latter - I don't see why these
should be replaced; if it's the former - why call them this?

Also - what kinds of DF would be replaced? And DF of what - characters?
paragraphs? lists? And what will the target of replacement be?

I even went and read the help, where it says:

> Replaces custom paragraph styles applied in the current
> document to "Text Body", "Text Body Indent",
> "First Line Indent" or "Hanging Indent" paragraph style.

I don't understand why these styles, whether they would be modified by the
autocorrect process, and how it would choose among these.

Can someone explain what is the original rationale for this, so that we can
form an opinion of whether to keep or remove?

2023-06-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=156082

Bug ID: 156082
Summary: PDF Signature: Unknown signature part opening file
signed by Hungarian AVDH service
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.2.0.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Draw
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: kelem...@ubuntu.com
Blocks: 105605, 113122

Created attachment 188110
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=188110&action=edit
Signed PDF from AVDH service

Attached document was signed by the https://magyarorszag.hu/avdh document
signing service.
When opened in LO, Draw sees two digital signatures, but one of them is not
working, no details are shown about it.

1. Open attached document in Draw
2. Notice the infobar shows "This document has invalid signatures" warning.
3. Push the Show Signatures button
4. In the Digital Signatures dialog there are two signatures listed: one by
AVDH Sign which is valid in itself, and one without any information.

When opened in a browser, it lists one attachment which is a 1 page document.
Maybe this part is misunderstood.

Version: 24.2.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: df29592493367bc03c9602c924711852eecf64c4
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.4; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: hu-HU (hu_HU.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

Note: the AVDH Signature requires two root CAs to be imported into the Firefox
certificate store: from the

Agree with Hossein, filling with ##'s is better then having the arbitrary three
#'s.

Now, one can perhaps conceive of some other way to indicate there is not enough
space for digits, but adding #'s is definitely an improvement.

(Some other ideas: printing actual characters but switching to ### at the end;
printing characters with an overlay triangle like for text; printing actual
characters but with an ellipsis, i.e. ... , at the end)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 144207] SUGGESTION : default file names when printing workbook in PDF

2023-06-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=144207

(In reply to Robert Lacroix from comment #2)
> option 1: in a single PDF file:
> automatically name the PDF file by the name of the workbook

What is the "name of the workbook"? The current default choice of name is the
file's base name (e.g. "foo" for /path/to/foo.ods). Why is that not good?

Auto-translation:
Quel est le "nom du classeur" ? Le choix de nom par défaut actuel est le nom de
base du fichier (par exemple "foo" pour /path/to/foo.ods). Pourquoi c'est pas
bon ?

> option 2 one PDF file per sheet: automatically name each PDF file with the
> same name as that of the sheet

I didn't realize we could do that... how does one save one file per sheet? Or
do you mean when just exporting a single sheet to a PDF?

Je ne savais pas qu'on pouvait faire ça... comment sauvegarder un fichier par
feuille ? Ou voulez-vous dire lors de l'exportation d'une seule feuille vers un
PDF ?

Assuming the actual ask is: "When exporting from within a single sheet, use
sheet name as the default filename in the filename selection dialog box" - I
support this, although I don't mind the current situation either.

Can confirm the bug exists in some form using the versions listed below. I'm
getting a different error, with different versions of LO, as listed below each
version, listed below :-)

I can connect to the database directly using mysql on the console, with no
password, as a regular user just as described in the original post.

Interestingly, with both versions, when the "Test Connection" button is clicked
in the setup process, LO confirms the connection test as successful. After
setting up the database connection, when LO gets to the Database home page, if
the user clicks on an operation, like Queries, the connection error pops up.

Also tried each version with a username and password, and got the same errors.

Yes that is correct. Only elements have an attribute to
rotate the text in addition to the shape rotation. It is a property of the
individual shape and not part of a style.

Issue is in OOo 3.3, so inherited.
Related issue is that the first segment of some of those shapes defines the
text rotation automatically: bug 137997.

Regina clarified in bug 122039 comment 4 that this issue is different to bug
122039 because path-like shapes (Lines, Arrows, Curve, Polygons...) are
different to custom shapes (Basic Shapes, Symbol Shapes...) in how they allow
text rotation or not in the file format.

Regina, is that correct? Is this bug an ODF limitation?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 156058] Jumping to list item in AutoFilter doesn't work on Linux

Raphael changed:

I am of course aware that there is the "Search items" field, but this seems to
perform a different function than the one I need (and which works on Windows).
I just want to jump to a specific item without changing the selection.
But when you type something into the "Search items" field, you can only select
from the entries.
If the search field is then cleared (to enter another search term) the
selection is then reset and all items are then checked.

Example:
1. Open my testfile and open the AutoFilter
2. Enter an "S" in the "Search items" field -> this will cause the list to show
only August and September, which are then checked.
3. Uncheck August
4. empty the "Search items" field -> this leads to all items being displayed
and unfortunately checked again.

It seems that it is not possible to use the "Search items" field to enter
different search terms and select the required entries without losing the
current selection when searching for a different term.

Maybe it is the actual bug, that when emptying the "Search items" field all
entries are checked? But I rather think this is not a bug, but a feature (which
I have never understood), because this was already the case in LibreOffice 6.
The real bug is that under Linux you can't jump to a list item by typing it
when the focus is on the list.

With drawing object rotation now possible but not exposed by single click in
both Writer and Calc, this is a duplicate of bug 90293.

Same reported, but marking as duplicate instead of invalid because there's

Additional note: the bug doesn't occur when building with gcc (with lto
enabled) nor when building with clang, but without lto. So it seems to be
somehow related to clang+lto

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 156072] "Numbering followed by" documentation mentions an option not found in the software

2023-06-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=156072

Ah, I see now. Thank you for the clarification.

I think this might be related to a bigger problem, the total conflation of
chapter numbering with list numbering, when the former has options not
associated with the latter. For example, I searched in the online help for
"chapter" in module Writer. One of the matches was "changing -- chapter levels"
which I then clicked on, while pulled up this:
https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/en-US/text/swriter/guide/insert_tab_innumbering.html?DbPAR=WRITER#bm_id3145078.
There it says "To insert a tab between the number or bullet and the paragraph
text for all list paragraphs at a given list level, use the Numbering followed
by option in the Position tab in the Bullets and Numbering dialog."

So I tried it by setting the style to Heading 1, and then pulled up the
Position Tab in the Bullets and Numbering dialog as indicated. Because this is
the standard Bullets and Numbering dialog and not the special Chapter Numbering
one, "line break" is not an option for "Numbering followed by", despite the
fact that I am trying to set the Numbering options for a chapter heading style,
and followed a link in the help that came up when I searched for "chapter"!

I'm not sure if this is best characterized as a documentation problem or an UI
problem or both. Certainly, though, if I'm hitting a link in the help that is
supposed to talk about chapter numbering, it should lead me to the options that
pertain to chapter numbering specifically, especially if they're different than
the options for regular list numbering.

Sorry, I meant 2019, not 2109.
Back then I also created a PDF (not with only the single number, but with more
text sourrounding). The back then PDF also shows some weird characters, but
more closely resembles the original number: All figures are there, but there is
an additional "3" in pasted text between every 3-piece-group of figures. Even
worse, this is a less striking fail.
