[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 124054] FIREBIRD: incorrect ASC order with varchar data
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=124054 --- Comment #30 from Robert Großkopf --- Isn't this one a feature request? There should be executed ALTER CHARACTER SET UTF8 SET DEFAULT COLLATION UNICODE directly after a new Firebird database has been created. Have forgotten this in last project and have to execute the SQL-code, copy and paste the tables and reconnect the relationships. Nothing for a "normal user". -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 148544] Option to remove all whitespace in "Paste special" and other dialogs
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=148544 --- Comment #6 from ady --- (In reply to V Stuart Foote from comment #5) > (In reply to Eyal Rozenberg from comment #4) > > Why is it a common use case to want to remove all whitespace, as opposed to > > trimming the heading and trailing white space? Convince me please... FWIW... If the request is to remove absolutely _all_ whitespace, then there is no need to change anything; we can already do that by several methods. If the request is to remove _repeated_ whitespace characters (e.g. reduce multiple consecutive spaces to one), we can also do that by several methods. > > For the most part, when white space is included it is not desired--it Sorry but… is there any source for such claimed statistic? Some use-cases might require that behavior, and others do not. > represents ill-considered formatting and bloats the strings being > copy/pasted. That includes enclosing as well as included text runs of > spaces. Users could also mark the undesired character as separator in the import dialogue and also check Merge delimiters. After that, concatenate the resulting columns, if needed. That also eliminates _all_ whitespaces. > > Ability to suppress the paste of the unhelpful space runs, as opposed to > having to do repeated find/replace sequences, is appealing. There is no need to do "repeating" find/replace sequences. Select the relevant area, and replace _all_, current selection only, searching for 2 consecutive spaces (or whatever you want to replace) and replacing with only one (or none, or whatever). Perhaps there is some case/need to repeat the action in some particular case, but then using regular expressions in the "Find and Replace" could help in this regard too. If all the current alternatives are not enough, let's not forget that Calc is not a text editor. Many relevant requests for additional options in several different areas in Calc have been rejected just to "avoid clutter" (and I disagree with that reasoning). This time we have a request that has enough alternative solutions already. > > Toggle is sufficient, but I would suggest suppression of white space should > be the default. Having the requested option set to ON by default would be a terrible idea. Users then would ask why the import is now resulting in a different display content than the content of their original (CSV) file, especially if they had done the same import in the past. If you add an option for some particular (advance) case, then (advance) users should take responsibility for acting on such option. At most, you could make the option to be remembered within the session after the user sets it to ON, but changing the current default behavior with no good reason is bad practice. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

Convince me please... For the most part, when white space is included it is not desired--it represents ill-considered formatting and bloats the strings being copy/pasted. That includes enclosing as well as included text runs of spaces. Ability to suppress the paste of the unhelpful space runs, as opposed to having to do repeated find/replace sequences, is appealing. Toggle is sufficient, but I would suggest suppression of white space should be the default. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

Turning off the autofilter didn't do it, filtering for All in a column with unique field values didn't do it, restarting the entirety of Libre Office didn't do it. (Also when I quit Libre Office to restart, I got no prompt to keep or remove the filter, but that might be a nice feature to have.) https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=140024 --- Comment #7 from Eyal Rozenberg --- Looking at that checkbox, I really don't see how a user is supposed to understand what it does. "Custom Styles" - is that Direct Formatting, or styles the users has defined and named? If it's the latter - I don't see why these should be replaced; if it's the former - why call them this? Also - what kinds of DF would be replaced? And DF of what - characters? paragraphs? lists? And what will the target of replacement be? I even went and read the help, where it says: > Replaces custom paragraph styles applied in the current > document to "Text Body", "Text Body Indent", > "First Line Indent" or "Hanging Indent" paragraph style. I don't understand why these styles, whether they would be modified by the autocorrect process, and how it would choose among these. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 156058] Jumping to list item in AutoFilter doesn't work on Linux
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=156058 Raphael changed: What|Removed |Added Status|NEEDINFO|UNCONFIRMED Ever confirmed|1 |0 --- Comment #6 from Raphael --- I am of course aware that there is the "Search items" field, but this seems to perform a different function than the one I need (and which works on Windows). I just want to jump to a specific item without changing the selection. But when you type something into the "Search items" field, you can only select from the entries. If the search field is then cleared (to enter another search term) the selection is then reset and all items are then checked. Example: 1. Open my testfile and open the AutoFilter 2. Enter an "S" in the "Search items" field -> this will cause the list to show only August and September, which are then checked. 3. Uncheck August 4. empty the "Search items" field -> this leads to all items being displayed and unfortunately checked again. It seems that it is not possible to use the "Search items" field to enter different search terms and select the required entries without losing the current selection when searching for a different term. Maybe it is the actual bug, that when emptying the "Search items" field all entries are checked? But I rather think this is not a bug, but a feature (which I have never understood), because this was already the case in LibreOffice 6. The real bug is that under Linux you can't jump to a list item by typing it when the focus is on the list. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 156072] "Numbering followed by" documentation mentions an option not found in the software
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=156072 --- Comment #2 from William Friedman --- Ah, I see now. Thank you for the clarification. I think this might be related to a bigger problem, the total conflation of chapter numbering with list numbering, when the former has options not associated with the latter. For example, I searched in the online help for "chapter" in module Writer. One of the matches was "changing -- chapter levels" which I then clicked on, while pulled up this: https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/en-US/text/swriter/guide/insert_tab_innumbering.html?DbPAR=WRITER#bm_id3145078. There it says "To insert a tab between the number or bullet and the paragraph text for all list paragraphs at a given list level, use the Numbering followed by option in the Position tab in the Bullets and Numbering dialog." So I tried it by setting the style to Heading 1, and then pulled up the Position Tab in the Bullets and Numbering dialog as indicated. Because this is the standard Bullets and Numbering dialog and not the special Chapter Numbering one, "line break" is not an option for "Numbering followed by", despite the fact that I am trying to set the Numbering options for a chapter heading style, and followed a link in the help that came up when I searched for "chapter"! I'm not sure if this is best characterized as a documentation problem or an UI problem or both. Certainly, though, if I'm hitting a link in the help that is supposed to talk about chapter numbering, it should lead me to the options that pertain to chapter numbering specifically, especially if they're different than the options for regular list numbering. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
