The bug goes away when rotation of the image is set to 0 degrees. So, I will

In the Properties sidebar deck, Line section, the setting for start and end
arrowheads:

* Has no label on its own
* Has no illustrative display unless already open; otherwise it has a "button"
(and one that's flush with the surroundings unless focused)
* Precedes the line type control (solid/dotted/dashed/etc.)

It has happened to me in the past that I looked for it, and failed to find it -
since I failed to notice there is anything other than line type control on that
"row" of the Line section.

This should be improved. Arrowheads should have a "row" of their own, with a
label of their own, and a preview of their own when the control isn't open.
Also, I'd consider splitting it into a pair of such controls (can be on the
same row).

Cursor trail in Writer on macOS

I'm seeing this in LO 7.6.2.1 on an Intel Mac with Skia enabled. No need for
dark mode or bidirectional text.

A vertical mark is left consistently at every character past a certain point in
the window. To the left of said point there is either no trail or the trail is
a row of tiny dots (depending on the font I guess).

I suppose this has to do with my system somehow because otherwise I would
expect there to be a lot of noise about the issue.

Suppose I've inserted an OLE object. Now, if I want to:

* Switch from content display to icon display
* Change the icon used for its display

I can't do that from anywhere (AFAICT). And if I want to:

* Change the file the OLE object links to

I can do that via Edit | External Links, but not through the object's context
menu.

Speaking of the context menu - it has entries for name, alt text, and
interaction - while missing the basic OLE object properties. That feels weird.

I suggest we add a callout to the default set, which looks roughly like the
following (ASCII art!):

   /

i.e. there's a "handle" (or a "beak" part if widening it is supported), and a
pair of rectangular brackets. The content is in the empty space surrounded by
the brackets.

Another variant could be large extensible parentheses on both sides, or curly
braces, or angle brackets; but the rectangular brackets are the most important
and useful IMHO.

This is a major annoyance for presentation authors. The weird elliptic
quadrants make this shape incredibly ugly. I wish someone would work on it,
since it's not some systemic bug so it should not be that much work beyond
realizing how the shape is specified.

Let me relate more specifically to some of the commands in the discussion so
far:

Different UI modes:

This bug needs a resolution valid for each of the global UI modes. One should
not think of advising users to switch UI modes to avoid "jumpy" UI (nor jump
content). Some people want their ribbons (= NB, Tabbed UI); some people hate
ribbons and want their multiple menus; etc. They should not need to switch.


The sidebar:

There is at least one possible answer: Toolbars would pop in and out, as you go
in and out of various contexts - but the sidebar will just pop out once, and
will stay visible unless the user manually push it out. Thus LO would be
pressuring you to accept the sidebar being open while you're doing a certain
kind of work. MSO does this (especially noticeable to me in Excel with
PivotTables and with chart element properties.)

Duplicates:

I believe we should undup the bugs about the canvas / document content moving
or being scaled with automatic UI changes like toolbar popup - and re-dup them
to each other, marking them only related to this one. What say you?

and I would argue most users prefer the toolbar interface; and that almost all
users would prefer if the choice followed a fair try-out of each UI mode for a

Your last sentence directly contradicts mine. I'm ok (well, not, but for the
purposes of this bug) with the UI being jumpy.

2 things you can try:
1) upgrade to LO 7.6.2
2) as a workaround, try:
- open console/terminal
- type:
export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen
- then:
soffice --calc

it'll launch LO with gen rendering instead of gtk3.

Agree with that, however there are substantial Accessibility and other use
cases (e.g. preparing documentation by screen capture, or live
instruction/demos) where ability for LO to selectively scale class (menu, TB,
dialog) of UI elements remains legitimate enhancement outside scope of average
usage provided by os/DE scaling methods. As enhancement still valid.

Unfortunately SAL_FORCEDPI environment variable does nothing for Windows os/DE
(just verified it does not [1]). Documentation [2] indicates support for gtk3 &
qt5/kf5 plugins only--so not a global workaround.

Sheet with autofilter and entries "CP" and "Mi-CP" on the column B

Hi,

When I use the autofilter with the words "CP" and "Mi-CP" listed, and I choose
"CP", the result returns all the entries with CP inside so I have "CP" and
"Mi-CP" entries.
I should obtain only "CP" entries not "Mi-CP" entries.

When I choose "Mi-CP", only the "Mi-CP" entries are returned : no problem here.

Random thickness of Footnote separator lines

In a Writer document I’m seeing Footnote separator lines of different
thickness, seemingly randomly

I have reported this on https://ask.libreoffice.org and received a response
that it's a screen glitch.  I don't believe it is as the problem is visible on
a printed page.

Summary

My document has three page styles, First Page, Left Page, Right Page

In each style I’ve used Format → Page Style → Footnote to set the footnote line
to be 0.1pt thick

However regardless of the Page Style, the footnote separator line will be
either the correct thickness, or noticeably thicker, randomly.

It’s also noticeable that as I edit the document the footnote separator line
can change from thick to thin and vice versa. I’ve not seen any pattern to
this.

I’ve tried unpacking the ODT file to look at the ‘content.xml’ file but I can’t
see anything obviously different between when the line is thick and when it is
thin.

I export the ODT to PDF and the thick and thin lines in the PDF match the state
of the ODT at the time of export.

Two replies said it was a screen glitch however the problem is still there on a
printed page.

It is identical in the ODT and PDF
It is random within the document
It can change during editing
It is still visible at high magnification (ODT file at 550%, PDF at 400%)
I’ve printed the PDF and what is on screen is still evident on the printed
copy.

So I think it's a bug

I think the bug here is that a table that should be split across pages is not
split, if you change the table settings to not split, it will move to the next
page and all rows will appear.

And that is the "jumpiness" of the UI that folks have complained about with
contextual TB since the OOa era. It is exactly a dupe as any solution of bug

Thanks Khaled. Deleting regression tags. Probably as a coincidence, it's just
about height of row and position of the table. For example when I change font
size inside table to 6 pt, the table is correctly rendered on second page and
all rows are visible. Still the bug, rows should not disappear.
