[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 158495] New: UI: FILESAVE "Automatic file" instead of "Automatic file name extension" in Base Database and Math Formula save dialog

2023-12-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=158495

Bug ID: 158495
Summary: UI: FILESAVE "Automatic file" instead of "Automatic
file name extension" in Base Database and Math Formula
save dialog
   Product: LibreOffice

Description:
Hello,

When I save a new (or save as) a Writer Document, Calc Spreadsheet, Impress
Presentation, or Draw Drawing, a checkbox "Automatic file name extension"
checkbox appears.

However, when I do the same with a Base Database or a Math Formula, this
checkbox says "Automatic file" only.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open LibreOffice
2. Create a new Math Formula or Base Database
3. Save the document

Actual Results:
On the save dialog, "Automatic file" is written

Expected Results:
On the save dialog, "Automatic file name extension" is written, like the other
applications

Reproducible: Always

Dear Telesto,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';

Just a nit, but an important one for me as a writer:
2013 is the en dash, which is shorter than the em dash, at 2014.

I can't get the code to work for me using the alt-x way in my browser (Firefox)
isn't supporting it. Alt+0151 works in Firefox.

alt-x works in notepad. I can type 2013 or 2014 and immediately type alt-x and
it converted the number to a symbol.

Not as fast as the numpad but I guess I must get used to this. What sucks is
that up until very recently, the alt codes were working just fine in
liberoffice, and deprecation be damned, alt codes work in every other
application I have loaded on this windows machine but firefox and libreoffice.

The Wikipedia article gives the history [1].

Deprecated when Microsoft implemented the "EnableHexNumpad" registry string
value and opened the entire Unicode for use moving MS Windows beyond
limitations of localized code pages.

Nothing biased against Windows, the project is cross platform and Unicode
centric with extensive ICU lib based handling rather than native Windows os/DE.

Our Unicode toggle (+x) and Special Character dialog provide consistent UI
cross platform.

Or in any LibreOffice UI element, type U+2013 (or other Unicode value) and then
use +x to toggle--MS legacy Alt-Codes were deprecated ages ago. But
project may implement a guard for NumPad key scancodes to explicitly support
the Alt-Codes (ASCII and Decimal Unicode).

I think in general, the Find & Replace dialog is sufficient. But as noted it
only supports PS.

However, we now have a visual representation in the Style Indicator "Spotlight"
(the SB Styles Deck) as for bug 38194 and enabling that shows current
limitation with just PS support in Find & Replace dialog. And where Character
Style is exposed in the Spotlight UI but we have no means to Find/Find All for
CS.

So, could extend Find & Replace to include CS handling to start

But seems like some visual representation of Find/Select or Find All/Select All
could be handled via the SB Styles Deck content panels--implement context menu
& shortcuts for find and select of PS and CS from the SB.

And possibly handle the other style types as well.

know...

"IMHO past time to dump that legacy Win crud, which MS has deprecated."

As per bug 151677 comment 11 (and others), let's CC Michael Weghorn.

Attachment 191184 originally posted in bug 151677 comment 9 is relevant here.

The Version field is probably around 7.4.x or even older.

Might this be possibly related to *gtk3* (or, who knows, maybe to dark mode)?

But for both additions and deletions - they can be user-specific, with the user

Impress slide with large margins and two drawing objects to export to PNG

Export to PNG with transparency set exports only the parts of the slide inside
the margins but the dimensions of the slide are set as the dimensions of the
PNG resulting in distortion of the resulting PNG. Also applies to Draw.
Attachment created as described:
1. Open a new Impress blank slide at Screen 16:9
2. Set the right and left margins to 10 cm, leaving an 8cm area for content
3. Draw a 5.00 cm diameter circle, blue fill, inside the margins
4. Copy the circle to overlap a margin and area fill circle to green
5. Click File > Export and set PNG, ensure Transparency is ticked, leave
other settings
RESULT: Exported PNG has proportions of full page but only the content within
the margins are included. The blue circle is distorted to a flat ellipse and
green circle is cropped, see slide 2
6. Instead, click File > Export and set PNG, ensure Transparency is NOT
ticked, leave other settings
RESULT: Exported PNG has proportions of full page and all content is complete
and undistorted, see slide 3

Bug ID: 158494
Summary: .ods file loads for too long to open this specific
file.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.5.8.2 release
  Hardware: PowerPC
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: christiani...@tutanota.com

Description:
For some reason this specific file needs ~1 minute to open using libreoffice
calc. The file is really small so I dont understand why it takes so long. I
consider this a bug or a corrupted file.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the file I attached. May need to be opened on windows 11, as I use.
2. Observe it takes more than 30 seconds to load, saying "loading document..."
at the bottom left.
3. After it loads, observe that the file is small.

Actual Results:
1. Open the file I attached. May need to be opened on windows 11, as I use.
2. Observe it takes more than 30 seconds to load
3. After it loads, observe that the file is small.

Expected Results:
1. Open the file I attached. May need to be opened on windows 11, as I use.
2. It should take up to 5 seconds to load that file.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
I Just also notices that My version it says its windows 10 but I have windows
11. My pc is fast, it shouldt take so much time. I created this file in my pc.
I tried opening the file in another laptop, which has an older version of
libreoffice and it opened fast there.

I extracted the content of the LibreOffice_7.6.3_Win_x86-64.msi archive (345MB)
with msiextract.
This main MSI archive installs the below file :
share/config/images_helpimg.zip

The content of this zip file looks like the content of the below directory :
help/media/helpimg

If this file can be deleted, it would save roughly 1 MB into the main MSI
archive.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 158491] New: FILESAVE: the size ratio of a slide exported to png file format is modified when the format of the slide has margins not null

2023-12-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=158491

Bug ID: 158491
Summary: FILESAVE: the size ratio of a slide exported to png
file format is modified when the format of the slide
has margins not null
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.5.7.1 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: fabpan2...@yahoo.it

Created attachment 191192

A slide in A6 portrait format showing a circle 5cm x 5cm exported to PNG

In same cases, the size ratio of a slide exported to png file format is
modified. It happens when the format of the slide has margins not null.
The attached png file is created by exporting a slide in format A6 portrait
with margins set to 1cm (default margins). On the slide, the figure is a circle
of size 5cm x 5cm.

No distortion appears when the margins are set to null or when the slide (with
or without margins) is exported to jpg file format.

Please note that the behavior reported is not due to changes of margins value.
(which could be another problem). The figure on the slide is a circle just
before and after exporting it (checked on position and size tab).

My Steps to get the png file attached
File > New > Presentation
Slide > Layout > Blank Slide
RMB (right mouse button) on the slide > Slide properties
Select ‘Slide’ tab if it is not already selected
Choose Paper Format A6 portrait
Check if the 4 margins are set to 1cm. If not set them to 1cm.
LMB (left mouse button) on OK button

LMB on Ellipse button
LMB on the slide (near the center)
RMB on the small circle > Position and Size
Set the size base point to the center
Set “keep ratio”
Set “Width” to 5cm
LMB on OK button

File > Export
Select PNG on drop down menu ‘Save as type’ and save

For comparison purpose

File > Export
Select JPEG on drop down menu ‘Save as type’ and save

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 158490] New: Can't enter Alt-codes now

2023-12-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=158490

Bug ID: 158490
   Summary: Can't enter Alt-codes now
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.6.3.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: xordevore...@gmail.com

Description:
Usually, I could enter codes using Alt command, such as em dash (—) by typing:
Alt+0151 on the numeric keypad. I don't have to slow my typing down to grab the
mouse and insert a code, and I insert such codes often.

Someone must have had the bright idea to map the alt key to the side panel
properties bar, because now when I enter alt+0151 with the numlock on, all I do
is cycle through the side panel.

Please don't make entering alt codes arduous by having us engage a tedious
interface to insert the code via menus.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Writer
2. Open the properties side bar, doesn't matter to what.
3. Be sure numlock is active.
4. Type alt+0151 like I did just now to produce: —

Actual Results:
No text appears. The properties side panel cycles through options.

Expected Results:
—

Reproducible: Always

   Product: LibreOffice

  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: dalix.valen...@gmail.com

Description:
When I am working on a document (example of document attached), sometimes (and
for reasons I do not understand), it becomes impossible to click on anything,
either on the UI or on the document itself. I can still write something with my
keyboard where my cursor was before the bug, but I cannot select another place
or click on a button anymore. Pointer is still displayed but clicking is
useless.

The only way to get control back is to either switch to another app and come
back on the LO document, or open and close Mission Control.

Steps to Reproduce:
Happens randomly, mostly when working on tables in Writer, and after saving the
document.

Actual Results:
Impossible to click anywhere but the software is not frozen.

Expected Results:
Performing normally?

Reproducible: Sometimes

This started happening after the macOS Sonoma update. Rolling back to a
previous version doesn't seem to fix the bug. Deactivating Skia didn't change
anything, and Safe Mode is also useless. Full clean install of both LO and
MacOS didn't change anything.

Problem appears on both MacBook Air M1 and Mac mini M1, both updated to the
latest 14.1.2 version.

I added the document "test bug.ods"
This shows what I mean.
I found the setting "Precision as shown" and that is indeed exactly what solves
this.
You can toggle it to see the difference in the calculation.
If you did not set "Precision as shown", the outcome of the 2 and 3 decimal
calculations are exactly € 0,01 off.
Now I am running Linux Mint which comes with LibreOffice.
The default setting of "Precision as shown" is "Not activated".
I presume that on whatever OS you install it, that is also the dafault setting.
Why is this setting off by default?
Seems to me it should be on by default...

I mean, it'll require afterwards the real translation in Weblate + synchro with

When right clicking on a spelling error, and choosing always autocorrect to
deletes the word. This occurs since several versions, and even in version
7.6.3. This error is not reproducible when the Language tool is disabled. I
thought the problem might be with LT, but having read other comments, can the
problem be with LO? Swithing on or off skia does not prevent the error.
