[Bug 158890] FORMATTING: Custom number format trailing 0 replaced with figure space

Just checked that out and you are correct. Weird as I assumed Calc would behave
the same, but had not tested/encountered this since switching over. That could
be problematic in its own way as now I wonder how one would go about copying
out of Calc without getting values truncated or mangled. I often use a lot of
numbers with lots of decimal points but in spreadsheets/Calc are displayed with
3 or 6 or 9 decimal places showing.

(In reply to ady from comment #9)
> In the meantime, I would suggest using mono-spaced (fix-width) fonts

Mono is pretty much no-go for me. :(

[Bug 158634] dates handled as text in AutoFilter when using a complex, conditional date format code

autofilter's missing date tree with complex format code

Stéphane Guillou (stragu), Balázs Varga (allotropia)
To be correct, there is no Autofilter date trees at LO 6.4.7.2 for this file.
I have LO 6.4.7.2 on another machine and I am able to test it. AutoFilter has
only date strings for column Q. From this it was difficult for me to filter the
Q column by date with the AutoFilter and before. For example to filter by
"October 2018" I had to enter "10.2018" at AutoFilter's search bar(see
attachment file). But it was enough for me.
Therefore, I understand why you decided that this was not a bag because
AutoFilter in LO did not work properly for complex format code all the same. So
I think it must be fixed anyway.
To be able to filter by dates I tested different office packs for this file:
Callligra, Gnumeric, FreeOffice and OnlyOffice. Only OnlyOffice from them all
exposes tree dates for column Q at AutoFilter.(OnlyOffice is very similar to
Google spreadshits). So this means that such a possibility exists and it is
possible to fix AutoFilter in LO as well.

[Bug 158859] Allow names for irregular ranges

It is currently possible to do it manually with too many steps and a high level
of expertise.

Currently, it is possible to create it from the name manager, but it is complex
and involves too many clicks and steps. Automating this will help gain ground
since Google Sheets does not yet support something like this; Excel does, which
could help make this feature compatible between Cal and Excel.

Dear Marcel Samek,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

[Bug 113050] FILEOPEN: PDF freezes Draw, one page, 19 KB file

I flipped to playing with DrawXMLOptimizer because I thought it might be easier
than tilingPatternFill, but hmm.

I hacked part of what was needed into /pdfimport/tree/drawtreevisiting.cxx
DrawXmlOptimizer::visit (FrameElement & ...

but it only gets me part way; I reckon out of the ~150k possibilities this is
only hitting about 30k. The problem is that on the original image there's
actually 5 or 6 overlapping patterns with different image/masks.
They each get rasterised into tiles, but then the start of the optimiser
performs a sort, so the neighbouring tiles of any one image aren't next to each
other in the optimiser list. That sounds fixable but is now getting much
messier.

I'll flip back to tilingPatternFill; the pain with that is getting my head
around all the different coordinate spaces and Poppler doesn't provide much
helper APIs for recreating parts of the path to export the image.

Right, I thought I'd just add those notes before carrying on...

[Bug 159052] New: line break '\n' is changed to '\r\n' when copy text from shape

2024-01-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=159052

Bug ID: 159052
Summary: line break '\n' is changed to '\r\n' when copy text
from shape
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: Inherited From OOo
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: rb.hensc...@t-online.de

Created attachment 191791
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=191791&action=edit
Example for testing

Open attached document. It has a shape with text. The text has a line break
(shift+enter) between first and second line. To make this distinguishable from
a paragraph end (enter), the paragraphs in the shape and in the text are set to
5mm for paragraph distance after.

Bring the shape to edit mode, then mark the complete shape text and copy it to
clipboard. Leave the shape and paste the clipboard to the text in the document.
Use the format "unformatted text" for pasting.

Error: The line break before the word 'here' is turned into a paragraph end.

The error happens when copying to clipboard. When you use a clipboard viewer
(e.g. FreeClipViewer) you can see, that the characters between the words
'break' and 'here' are 0D 0A, but it should be 0A.

There are two reasons:
With the change from commit 5f6e5cb6 the paragraph end is set to LINEEND_LF in
https://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/editeng/source/editeng/impedit2.cxx?r=5f6e5cb6#277.
That has the effect, that '/n' is replaced with '/r/n'. I think, that changing
line#277 to use GetSystemLineEnd() instead of LINEEND_LF is necessary. But that
alone does not fix the error.

The next problematic part is in
https://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/tools/source/stream/stream.cxx?r=2b4094195#1856
Even if the incoming string in rIn has correctly '/n' between the words and
parameter eLineEnd has the (for me correct) '/r/n', the line break '/n' is
converted to a paragraph end '/r/n' in the tmpl_convertLineEnd() method.

But because I don't know what is needed for other OS than Windows, I will not
touch the code there.

I see the problem already in OOo2.3.1, so inherited.

Hi Stéphane
Can you please update to the currently supported version, 7.6, and let us know
if you still experience the same issue?
If you do, please also test with a new user profile (after backing up the
existing onw).
Thank you!

Can you please be more precise about which toolbars you make visible and lock,

Please also test in version 7.6 as 7.5 won't see further updates.

[Bug 159051] New: UI - Base - Ubuntu 22.04 Horrible Lag Operating a Base Form with GTK3, but not with KF5

2024-01-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=159051

Bug ID: 159051
Summary: UI - Base - Ubuntu 22.04 Horrible Lag Operating a Base
Form with GTK3, but not with KF5
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.6.4.1 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Base
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: marcelo_javier_r...@yahoo.com.ar

I am using Ubuntu 22.04 and for quite some time (1+ year) I noticed that Base
was getting horribly slow when operating a form connected to a MySQL 8
database.

I decided to install the libreoffice ppa and update the version to 7.6.4.1 to
see if that could fix the problem, but it didn't. I tried on 2 different
computers (one with nvidia card and another with a hybrid intel+nvidia) and in
all graphics combination the error is there. The most modern computer is a dell
xps 15 with Intel i9 and Nvidia dedicated card, so it is quite a powerhouse for
what is needed to run Libreoffice.

In the past, Base responsive, but now it is almost unusable. Even when
selecting and deselecting a check box in a table control connected to a boolean
field in a database table, the UI gets extremely slow, and the update takes
1.5+ seconds. During this period, X usage has huge and constant CPU usage
spikes. Even trying to access Base's menu takes forever.

Researching for this type of problem, I noticed many users are having problems
similar to this one, but not on Base.

With a lot of research, it seems the culprit is the package libreoffice-gtk3.
If I uninstall the package, install libreoffice-kf5 and set 'export
SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=kf5' in my .profile, then Base is really snappy and there are
no problems at all (even Calc seems a bit faster), so it is not a database
issue or connection to the database issue either.

Another thing that I noticed is that in the past it was very common to have
Base crashing while editing a Form, but so far this hasn't happened with KF5.

zip file with test documents, screenshots and pdf created from the test
documents

In some cases lines of a paragraph formatted with justified text are formatted
incorrectly when the line is bordered at the right by an image with wraparound:
The text is formatted not with the normal character spacing, but with a
greater. As result the end of the line is covered by the image.
As seen in the test document much text parts are formatted correctly but some
text parts are always incorrectly formatted. I don't know the reason or the
specific circumstances what lines are formatted incorrectly.

When the paragraph is formatted with left alignment the problem doesn't exist.

Reproducing the problem:
- open the document "Alte Fotoapparate
V6.4.2_LO_24.8_Fehler_klein_V2_markiert.odt" from the attached zip document (or
"Alte Fotoapparate V6.4.2_LO_24.8_Fehler_klein_V2.odt" - same content, but
incorrectly formatted text parts not coloured) with a LOdev 24.8 build created
on 2024-01-01 or later.
- look at the lines coloured with "Light brick 3" in the paragraphs from
1.1.1.2 on: they are formatted with greater letter spacing.
- Exception: In paragraph 1.1.1.1 I have formatted the coloured text part left
aligned and the text is displayed correctly.

The problem doesn't exist in LO(dev) 24.2 and in LOdev 24.8 builds created
before 2024-01-01.

input caret even got thinner since then. Any chance to speed up the process?

Example to reproduce the problem

Open attached document. It has a shape with text. The text has a line break
(shift+enter) between first and second line. To make this distinguishable from
a paragraph end (enter), the paragraphs in the shape and in the text are set to
5mm for paragraph distance after.

Bring the shape to edit mode, then mark the complete shape text and copy it to
clipboard. Leave the shape and paste the clipboard to the text in the document.
Use the format "Rich text format" for pasting.

Error: The line break before the word 'here' is missing.

The error happens when copying to clipboard. When you use a clipboard viewer
(e.g. FreeClipViewer) you can see, that the RTF markup has '/sl' instead of
'/line'.

But when choosing SVG nearly everything is correct, but the X labels are too
high and too far to the left.

I dont want to provide the example graph but everything is correct, the x axis
labels are above the graph and outside the area to the left.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. create a line graph with x and y axis labels

Actual Results:
everything is correct (title, subtitle, legend, lines, axes, y label and

In Writer, we can set character spacing in Character and that seems OK.
In Calc, we can also set character spacing in Character, but that works only
for fixed text and numbers - not for formula results (we can space formula
itself, but that is pointless if we show results).

There should be a way to set spacing also for formula results.
Could font spacing be added in Format Cells - Font Effects?

affecting the non selected cells. Reselecting this custom selection of cells
for every rename operation is arduous to say the least, which is what led me
here.

It could be added as an additional setting in the "Other options" section of
the F/R window. Maybe "Sticky replacement selection"?

Thanks for your consideration.

I wonder why the default beige background would be an accessibility issue.

Reading the ticket again it seems reasonable to combine the two commands. We
use .uno:ShowAnnotations in the View menu for this purpose. The ContextLabel
(View >) "Comments" might be inappropriate for the Navigator popup; not sure if
this menu shows the pure "Show Comme~nts" or some PopupLabel needs to be added.

Code pointer: sw/uiconfig/swriter/ui/navigatorcontextmenu.ui and probably some

[Bug 158835] Discrepancy of direct formatting precedence over list number/bullet

> The first thing to do is sort out this oddity of having to select a
> different thing to what we want to change, in bug 158879.

After thinking about it, it is not that odd. What you select in fact is the
paragraph marker. It belongs in the current list item (it is the last
"component" of the paragraph). Therefore, "logically", you are still inside the
list item you want to change, even if you select something "at the other end".

What is confusing (even for somebody versed in Writer subtleties), is teh
necessity to select also the next list number (which does not happen when you
want to process the last item in a list because the next paragraph is "normal";
it also means you must create an extra paragraph if the list item is the last
paragraph in a document) because the list number is a Writer-generated piece,
not something explicitly entered by user. And this gives the illusion you
select something in the next paragraph.

> Anyway, reproduced in recent trunk build: changing the marker's character
> style from "Numbering Symbols" to "None" in the sample's 3rd list restores
> the green colour.

This is where the bug lies. DF precedence over character style is observed for
all attributes, except colour. This means you can't play with both character
style and DF for spot modification. This breaks the usual behaviour PS < CS <
DF. This precedence should be restored for colour and afterwards we'll evaluate
to see if this solves the problem without introducing others.

I think the request is rather exceptional that most users won't ever be aware
of the possibility. So, the selection peculiarity could be left aside it too
difficult to improve.

And indeed, that was just pure luck. No idea if reverting this fragile thing
makes any sense. As the discussion here shows (comment 7), this wasn't the
first time this changed; and now, the proposed change would likely cause a
*similar* breakage of documents created in 7.5 - 7.6. Will it be merged? No
idea, and no preference; the proposed patch is not better that the current
status, TBH.
