What I found to be strange is that even if I type some text, and add a
watermark, the undo is not available even for text, which is what I think is
more critical, maybe I have deleted some text before, and I need to undo, at
least the text part.

With gtk3 VCL plugin, reproduced in 7.0.6.2, but not anymore in:

Version: 7.1.0.3 / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: f6099ecf3d29644b5008cc8f48f42f4a40986e4c
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-AU (en_AU.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

It now uses the system's highlight colour.

On macOS however, I can still reproduce in 7.6.4 but on master it uses a nicer
light blue that matches the OS highlight colour. Note that there is now no
difference in colour between selected and selected + hover.

So to me this is "works for me". Heiko might have more details on recent
changes regarding the use of system's highlight colour in various places. I
suspect the 24.2 change is related to bug 158084.

(In reply to Thorsten Wagner from comment #17)

Relying on looking at the mangled chart in the attached document is not enough
to reproduce the issue in (newer or older) versions that don't have the bug.
We need steps to get to the broken chart.

Trying to mimic the chart in attachment 132561, I used:

1. Open attachment 132635
2. Select range E28:F29
3. Insert chart > Next > Data series in columns; Finish
4. Insert > Titles > X axis = "fuel type"
5. Click on the first bar, then Insert > Y Error Bars > Cell Range; turn on
"Same value for both"; select cell E30 for the "Positive" field; click OK
6. Repeat for the second bar
7. Change Y axis settings to use a maximum of 120, so the error bar is visible.

Result: bars disappear, error bars are one above the other, shifted to the left
border of the chart wall, as in sample document.

I'd personally prefer 2.

1. has the problem that one still ships libreoffice-calc. Shipping something
which doesn't work (fails on start, even with a message) is not good.

Or 3, but I don't think there's such a mode (yet). And if we had such a mode we
wouldn't need that NaN payload thingy at all.

Thanks for the report. I see the same in your sample document.

Unfortunately, this is likely due to floating-point arithmetic imprecision
common to many tools.

If you use in cell G16 the following formula instead:

=ROUND(F16*1)

... the date will be as expected.

You can also see how the DATE() formula will handle a value that is just under
the target value, try this:

=DATE(2021.999,4,15)

See this help page:
https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/en-US/text/scalc/01/calculation_accuracy.html

There is an open report to improve the situation, so I will mark as duplicate
as that one.

The chart exhibits the bug on fileopen in OOo 3.3, but double-clicking it (or
creating it from scratch) sets it back to the original text scale.
Issue started in 3.4, when date scales started being supported.

This is actually a duplicate of bug 68679.

As Regina pointed out, the smallest resolution for the Date type is "Days" when
editing the axis scale.

(Partial) workaround is still to use text, either by converting source data (as
in comment 0) or by using the type "Text" for the axis scale.

Yes please, unless they have already been reported. For example, the first

sample ODS, simplified

Actually, the behaviour is inherited from OpenOffice 3.3.
The difference I was seeing in comment 5 was due to SWITCH() in the DoW column
not being supported prior to LO 5.2.[1]

Repeating the steps with the simpler attached document (no linked data, no
formula in DoW column), I can reproduce the shift in data ranges after save +
reload in OOo 3.3.

GNOME's disk usage analyser

In my opinion, this is more useful for when subcategories are exclusive to
their main category (example in attachment 191932) whereas an example like
attachment 191931 (a good example of a "bad data visualisation" in my opinion)
should be represented as a categorised bar plot in which one single colour is
used per subcategory, or some kind of Sankey plot.

In any case, and regardless of how doughnuts and pies are generally not good
for comparing values, I can see how it can be useful, and notice its popularity
in infographics.

If it is implemented, I think it should also accommodate subcategories that
don't sum up to 100%. It is for example used in that way in GNOME's disk usage
anaylser (with the treemap as an alternative visualisation) - see attachment.

[Bug 152943] GetErrCode() doesn't work as expected on RISC-V due to floating-point NaN payload not being propagated

2024-01-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=152943

(In reply to Eike Rathke from comment #5)

> We might have to have a runtime check in Calc as well and bail out if NaN
> payloads are not supported.

Yes, a compile time check cannot guarantee that this functionality works well
at runtime. So what behaviour should Calc take when detects the lack of NaN
payload support at runtime?

As I understand it, there might be three solutions:

1. Giving a warning and shutting down calc.
2. Giving a warning and disclaimer. Calc continues running.
3. Silently switch to a non-NaN payload mode.

For #1, maybe it is a bit distructive to directly rule out RISC-V as a
supported platform. #2 is a transitional solution. For #3, is it possible to
add this feature?

According to my observation, on riscv64, Calc does return error code when a
formula error occurs, but sometimes it returns wrong error code '#NUM'.

For me, after deleting the day of week (DoW) column and recreating chart:

* It is true that save/reload doesn't change the chart in that case.

* The chart has some problems that the original spreadsheet had only after
reload.
- only date of datetime is used for x axis, hour is lost
- the right y-axis range 0 to 16 is incorrect, not obviously related to any
column
(not range of Lo and Hi temperatures, -15 to 5.
maybe offset range of Lo values only, -15 to 1.)

Maybe those should be separate bug report(s)?

This is pretty common behaviour in many dialogs, allow typing letters then
promptly replacing them by a value. So I'd tend to agree with "won't fix", as
long as the replacement value is sensible.

One side note, Samuel: the dialog's Help button leads to nowhere, with

Thank you for the extra information and checking the links, khindall, I
appreciate it.

Let's see what the UX/Design team thinks then.

UX/Design team: this seems to be a recurrent topic online and on the bug
tracker (linked to all the issues with trackpads scroll being too sensitive). I
can see how some users might like to turn off zoom in the app / fix its value.
I can imagine a discrete lock icon next to a greyed-out zoom control in the
status bar, which would be controlled by getting into the Zoom and View Layout
dialog:

[ ] Lock zoom factor
(which would grey out all other zoom controls in the dialog)

Looks like the same mysterious crash as bug 154091, which is also "works for
me" in 24.2.

Would be wonderful if someone who can reproduce consistently could bibisect the
cause and/or the fix.
We know 7.6.4 crash. If the upcoming 7.6.5 doesn't, it'll be easier to pinpoint
the fix.

L Duperval, can you please test version 24.2 and see if it is resolved? If not
available at the top of the page, it would be in the pre-releases at the
bottom: https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/

Asking because others have reported a similar issue fixed in that version, see
bug 154091 and bug 157203.

Heiko, Rafael, Olivier, Jean-François, what do you think?

I like the idea of a simple, sample macro that's easy to find, with enough
comments so it is self-explanatory, to see what scripting makes possible.

Curious beginners going to Tools > Macros > Edit Macros won't know where to
start with the IDE that's presented to them and the default empty macro. If
they open the "Application Macros & Dialogs" collection, they won't easily find
a sample module directed at beginners.

Could there be, for each component, a "Macro demo - start here" module?

(In reply to carrt7 from comment #0)
> We need a simple macro available on the task-bar, which can be run simply by
> clicking the icon, and does no damage.
I wouldn't clutter the UI with that. I'd prefer e.g. a direct link from a Tip
of the Day.

Created attachment 192223

Sample document with chart created with OOo 3.3.

Reproduced with:

Version: 24.8.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 2cedb1a19ad605df4e148589e9027512e4dd9265
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3

and:

Version: 6.0.0.3
Build ID: 64a0f66915f38c6217de274f0aa8e15618924765
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk2;
Locale: en-AU (en_AU.UTF-8); Calc: group

Following the steps with OOo 3.3 does not create the same chart as it didn't do
as much automatic guessing of series back then. However, using the same chart
settings, the chart does not get mangled on save and reload. Attached is such a
file. Interestingly, this file opened with a recent version, saved and
reloaded, does not exhibit the bug.

The issue seems to be with the data range including row labels that span two
columns. It works are first, but on save and reload, only one column is used
for categories, everything else is shifted to the left, and the last column is
used for "Close Values" when it wasn't populated before.

Test document to show the behavior.

In the Autofilter list for a column the entry "empty" is disabled when in an
other column empty cells are filtered out (excluded, not displayed).
Reproducing the behavior:
- open the attached document "Alte Fotoapparate_Test_3_Autofilter.ods"
- select by autofilter in column B e.g. "Altix IV" or "Altix V" (or in column C
e.g. "ohne") but not "(empty)" in such manor that also some empty cells in
column F remain displayed
- look to the autofilter list of column F
expected: Also the entry "(empty)" is enabled (black)
found: The entry "(empty)" is disabled (gray)

The behavior depends on setting LibreOfficeDev Calc - Compute - Search criteria

- when unchecked the wrong behavior also occurs when in the filter first set
empty cells are not excluded
- when checked then behavior as decribed above

2024-01-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 159419
Summary: StockChart3 Volume and Range: data ranges corrupted

   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.6.4.1 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED

  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: gekach...@yahoo.com

Description:
Amount and Range chart (StockChart3) corrupted after save and reload.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open stockchart3-save-reload-bug-data.ods
2. Select range $A$1:$E$15
3. Menu: Insert / Chart ...
4. Click Stock chart type, the select Stock Chart 3, and click Finish button.
5. Move the chart off the data.
At this point chart looks something like stockchart3-default-before-save.png

Given data with columns datetime, day-of-week, kW/h, Lo, Hi
Selecting all data and inserting a chart, choosing Stock Chart 3 nicely uses
- datetime and day-of-week for x axis labels,
- kW/h for amount
- Lo temperature for low value of range
- Hi temperature for high value of range

6. File / Save
7. File / Reload

Actual Results:
Now chart looks something like stockchart3-after-save-and-reload.png

Save and reload corrupted chart
- only date of datetime is used for x axis, hour is lost
- day of week column is not used for x axis
- left y-axis range is incorrect, not obviously related to any data column
- right y-axis range is incorrect, not obviously related to any data column
- plotted data is incorrect

Expected Results:
Chart still looks like stockchart3-default-before-save.png

Reproducible: Always

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=159414

I had a feeling you might see what you are seeing with Skia/Metal. That is a
separate, unrelated bug that was fixed in LibreOffice 7.6.x. LibreOffice 7.6.x
uses a newer version of Google's Skia code and that newer version fixed a lot
of Skia/Metal rendering issues for some GPUs on Mac Intel machines. Skia/Metal
renders much faster than the default macOS rendering. But, it is was pretty
buggy on some Mac Intel machines before LibreOffice 7.6.x.

In February 2024, LibreOffice 7.6.5 is planned to be released and that version
should include the fix for tdf#155266 and the newer version of Google's Skia
code so no workarounds should be needed.

While we wait for LibreOffice 7.6.5 to be released in a few weeks, there are
two other temporary workarounds that you can choose from:

- Reinstall LibreOffice 7.5.8. This version does not include any of the changes
that caused your original bug report so you won't need to use the Skia/Metal
workaround.

- Try installing LibreOffice 7.6.4 and use the Skia/Metal workaround

This is where I ended up after hitting Provide Feedback > Submit an Enhancement
Request.

This may not technically be a bug but it is certainly an annoyance.

When you highlight the cells that you want to print, you have to go to the
dropdown File menu and click on Define to have the program actually grab those
cells for printing. A Define icon is not in the File Toolbar.

Also, Define is not in the Customization list to be able to move it to the File
Toolbar where the other Print actions are located. Only Define Name, Define
Labels, Define Range. The latter is not for printing.

There used to be an icon for Define in the Print area of the File Toolbar. It
got lost somewhere along the updates.

I have tried to add a keyboard shortcut for it but no luck.

Patrick, thank you for this work around. It dramaticly improved the situation
from what I experienced in the short time I tested it. Whenever I now highlight
more the one line, the lines will show a light yellow tone. This is nothing bad
in general, just curious, is that what "skia" stands for?

Thanks again!

Can't remember, but just repro'ed with Calc using:

Version: 7.2.7.2 (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 8d71d29d553c0f7dcbfa38fbfda25ee34cce99a2
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19045; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: da-DK (da_DK); UI: en-US
Calc: CL

And works as expected with Writer, as you noted.

Checked the code, using officecfg is not a viable option here since the
possible key names are not spelled out in the .xcs file.
