https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=159587 Bug ID: 159587 Summary: OpenPGP: don't show confirmation dialog when Certificate Manager was launched successfully Product: LibreOffice Version: 24.8.0.0 alpha0+ Master Hardware: All OS: macOS (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: LibreOffice Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: l...@disr.it Description: OpenPGP: don't show confirmation dialog when Certificate Manager was launched successfully Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a writer document, type anything and save 2. open File > Digital Signature > Digital Signatures > Start Certificate Manager Actual Results: When GPG Suite is installed on macOS, GPG Keychain opens (expected). LibreOffice shows a confirmation dialog stating: "Information: You have opened the certificate manager at /Applications/GPG Keychain.app" OK Expected Results: That dialog has no value. The certificate manager will open above existing open windows so always be visible to the user. There really is no need to bother the user to click OK for an action they can visually see in front of themselves. Showing a dialog is a great idea, but only when there is a problem and things need fixing. WHen things work as expected I'd prefer to not complicate user workflows unnecessarily. Also when it does stop it's impossible to save the current sheet with the current parameters. Often the sheet will fail on long jpbs; losing all work. Actual Results: Use 15 digits of precision on all settings so very tedious to re-enter all fields everytime one needs to run solver. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106008 --- Comment #15 from QA Administrators --- Dear Severo Raz, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone! [comment 5] I think this misunderstands (or comments on the wrong bug). This bug (bug 159550) is about the range automatically chosen for the right y-axis for the given spreadsheet data. "Right scale is 0 to 16 even though temperature data range is -15 to 5." (In the radio-button control for "Ability to choose value type", I wrote "may not use log scale", because in this case the temperature data include both positive and negative values, so the range includes 0. But a logarithmic axis scale cannot include value 0.There is no e such that 10^e == 0.) > Double click on 'Hi' and 'Lo' series (If still relevant, can you clarify what to click? [Bug 154933] Rename "Text body" to "Body text"
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=154933 --- Comment #20 from Kenneth Burke --- Thank you for responding to my post. I should also let you know I opened a separate bug report, number 159549, to report the same problem. I have read the instructions on how to file bug reports, but this is the first bug report I have submitted. Please be patient with me if I am not following proper protocol here. As far as I can tell, for the test document the behavior is the same in LO version 7.6.2 and version 24.2. I have not tested LO 24.8.0.0.alpha0+. The altered behavior of some paragraphs occurs between LO 7.5.9 and LO 7.6 and later versions. After I uploaded the document I found it contains in its original version (as created by LO version 7.5.9) both a paragraph style named "Text Body" and another style named "Body Text." The "Body Text" style was listed as hidden and was not used by any paragraphs in the document when loaded by LO 7.5.9 and earlier. The 2 paragraph styles have different settings. When the document is opened in LO 7.6 and later, paragraphs originally given the Text Body style are re-assigned to the Body Text style and take on the settings of the Body Text style. This alters the properties of those paragraphs. As a workaround when creating future documents it would seem my team could substitute the Body Text style with desired settings instead of the Text Body style. The problem for us is the hundreds of existing documents that have Text Body and Body Text styles coexisting in the same document. If LibreOffice Writer could be made to check to see if both styles exist in the same document and then leave Text Body in place when it finds both present, that might help avert the problem my office has encountered. Thank you again for looking into this problem. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

Using the fallback 'C' locale. for some systems when trying to use en_SE.UTF-8 for "Time" (which should give you the ISO date format of -MM-DD). However the issue is that not all systems give this error, with some you don't fallback to the 'C' locale and you can get corrupt data. STEPS TO REPRODUCE: I'm only able to reproduce this on an "old" system that has been upgraded over the years. Following the same steps on a newly built system does not lead to the failure. Set up a "vanilla" locale, checking with locale (rather than localectl) Try "libreoffice --cat testfile.docx | od -c | more" Adjust the locale to include en_SE.UTF-8, either by setting the LC_TIME environment variable or choosing en_SE.UTF-8 in the KDE regional settings, again check with locale: Repeat the "libreoffice --cat testfile.docx | od -c | more" OBSERVED RESULTS: "libreoffice --cat ..." reads the given file and writes it to STDOUT as text (which should be UTF-8 encoded) If you are fortunate, you get: $ libreoffice --cat testdoc.docx | od -c 000 357 273 277 A T e s t F i l e : 020 D i f f i c u l t 303 251 \n \n or, if you are not so fortunate: $ libreoffice --cat testdoc.docx | od -c 000 A T e s t F i l e : D i f 020 f i c u l t 351 \n \n The latter with: $ locale locale: Cannot set LC_ALL to default locale: No such file or directory LANG=en_US.UTF-8 LANGUAGE= LC_CTYPE="en_US.UTF-8" LC_NUMERIC=en_US.UTF-8 LC_TIME=en_SE.UTF-8 LC_COLLATE="en_US.UTF-8" LC_MONETARY=en_US.UTF-8 LC_MESSAGES="en_US.UTF-8" LC_PAPER=en_US.UTF-8 LC_NAME=en_US.UTF-8 LC_ADDRESS=en_US.UTF-8 LC_TELEPHONE=en_US.UTF-8 LC_MEASUREMENT=en_US.UTF-8 LC_IDENTIFICATION=en_US.UTF-8 LC_ALL= You can test whether the output is proper UTF-8 by piping into "iconv" $ libreoffice --cat testdoc.docx | iconv -f UTF-8 -t UTF-8 WISHED FOR RESULTS: This issue is likely dependent of the update history of the underlying system, however the text conversion should *fail* rather than output "corrupt" UTF-8. [Bug 159575] New: Add --page (or similar) command line argument for opening and converting files/text extraction, and search argument for opening
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=159575 Bug ID: 159575 Summary: Add --page (or similar) command line argument for opening and converting files/text extraction, and search argument for opening Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.5.9.2 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: darrenldl...@gmail.com Description: This request is primarily about allowing better integration of Writer with search tools like Recoll, ripgrep-all, etc. I admit this is likely a niche use case. Right now, there are the following issues with the command line interface (to the best of my knowledge): - Text extraction via --text (or the equivalent --convert-to) does not contain separators between pages, so there is no way for an indexer to collect page number during indexing. - This is possible for PDFs as pdftotext from poppler-utils insert separators between pages, and also have a page range arguments, allowing page-by-page text dump. - I find the second option (explicit page number command line arguments) to be clearer in what behaviour to expect. For instance, I don't know what happens if the separator sequence appears in PDF content - does pdftotext escape the sequence? - No way to ask Writer to jump to a specific page when opening document file. - This is possible for PDFs as most PDF viewers accept a page argument to open to. - Passing page number when launching a PDF viewer is the primary way for search tools to make user experience as smooth as possible. - No way to ask Writer to begin a search. - This is possible for PDFs as most PDF viewers accept a search argument at launch. - This is a step further from above, but some search tools (namely Recoll) try to jump to the search result (or as close as possible) by also picking a word to search for on top of picking a page to go to. Suggested additions: - Page number arguments for start and end page range for text extraction (or conversion in general). - Page number argument to open to at launch. - Argument to specify string to search for at launch. This argument is processed after the above page number argument. Steps to Reproduce: N/A Actual Results: N/A Expected Results: N/A Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: N/A -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
