Good argument. But the SC has two panels, and I expect to jump to the first
item in the list when pressing a key in the right documents pane. The Recent
Documents/Templates toggle might fool a little but you are always on the right
pane.

Dear Telesto,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

You are right, I overlooked the name (the word is a surname), it has no
diacritics and provokes the bug.

The red triangle means that the text overflows. But I can't guess by the
screenshots why.

Also add the version information (menu Help - About). Thanks.

I guess it's Windows only issue; clipboard handling is OS-specific.

Regardless of if we implement an additional SB content panel as proposed here,
or expand on the current PostIt style comments as Heiko and Bdac seem to
prefer, the underlaying framework needs to provide functional keyboard
navigation, with suitable shortcuts, and most importantly fire appropriate
"accessible events" for a11y needs.

Current comment support, PostIt and the SB Navigator deck Comment object
listing are pretty painful for keyboard only navigation, so lacking Assistive
Technology support.

@Buovjaga,
This not necessary a bug, however I simply unable to grasp why the current
behaviour being as it is. Especially because it's inherited from OOo.

Some bold guessing: loading the first part of a document, and adding the other
pages incrementally made sense on slow machines of the year 2000. Loading the
full document with 1500 would take way to long to be workable. The incremental
adding was a compromise. However the incremental adding of pages after opening
appears to be rather expensive and really slow on modern machines.

[Bug 159682] New: The first 500 pages are instantly shown, the other 1000 are added incrementally

Bug ID: 159682
Summary: The first 500 pages are instantly shown, the other
1000 are added incrementally
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 24.8.0.0 alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: tele...@surfxs.nl

Description:
The first 500 pages are instantly shown, the other 1000 are added incrementally

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open attachment 192460 [details]
2. It opens with 519 pages visible. It takes a while to add the other 1000
pages

Actual Results:
LibreOffice is able to render 519 pages 'at once' and takes 120 seconds to add
+/- 1000 more. What makes the difference?

Expected Results:
So somehow LibreOffice is able to render 519 pages quickly and the rest of the
pages need to be added incrementally. It's been this way ever since OpenOffice
2.2.0.

It doesn't make any difference if you save the file; it will always
incrementally added the pages starting from 519. This rather particular
behaviour, IMHO.

[Bug 158366] Blurry text hinting (possible regression)

2024-02-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=158366

I can confirm that with libcairo 1.16 the problem disappeared!
My way with Xubuntu 23.10:
sudo apt-get build-dep libcairo2
download
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/cairo/cairo/-/archive/1.16/cairo-1.16.zip
cd cairo-1.16
./autogen.sh
./configure --prefix=/usr/local
sudo make install
sudo ldconfig

After a reboot the fonts are fine. I am missing some Debian-Patches but that
doesn't seem to be a problem.

[Bug 159678] heading fields in headers and footers do not track heading content through the document

To reproduce from scratch:

1. Create a new text document;
2. Insert->Field->More Fields->Document->Heading (Heading contents), select "Up
to level": 9, press [Insert], then [Close];
3. In Navigator, right-click the field, choose Edit, and inspect the "Up to
level" value.

In 7.6.0.3, it's 9.
In 23.2.0.3 (and in current master), it's 8.

Suspecting something related to the replacement of "Up to level"'s spin button
with drop-down list.

Thank you for the sample. When I read the sample, the crash is occurring in the
following function:

2379 MSWordExportBase::WriteText()  (in libmswordlo.dylib) + 555  [0x1aba0e2db]

This function is only called when LibreOffice is saving your document as a
.docx file.

My first guess is that an autosave is occurring while you are pressing and
holding the delete key. Does that sound like what you are seeing?

Thank you for the feedback, I could reproduce this.
I had missed the fact you had added a new hatch item.

The shape has the right hatch, area dialog has the right background color but
"Background color" isn't checked so the preview doesn't show the background
color.

So maybe Martin Dauskardt (comment #15) and Stéphane Guillou (stragu) (comment

[Bug 158366] Blurry text hinting (possible regression)

2024-02-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=158366

Just adding more information on this.

To recap, after digging a bit more, the current situation is:

- Computer 1. Debian testing / Cairo 1.18 / LibreOffice 24.2 (bad font render)
/ LibreOffice 7.6 (bad font render)
- Computer 2. Debian stable / Cairo 1.16 / LibreOffice 24.2 (good font render)
/ LibreOffice 7.6 (good font render)

So, IIRC, in Computer 1 _there was a time_ LO was rendering fonts fine, until I
installed 24.2 (devel) where this issue with fonts hinting started.

But in the meantime, Computer 1 it also upgraded the Cairo version (from 1.16
to 1.18) as logs shows:

testing@netbook:~/Escritorio$ zgrep libcairo2 /var/log/dpkg.log.* | grep -i
upgrade
/var/log/dpkg.log.1:2024-01-13 09:19:31 upgrade libcairo2:amd64 1.18.0-1
1.18.0-1+b1
/var/log/dpkg.log.5.gz:2023-09-16 09:44:42 upgrade libcairo2:amd64 1.16.0-7
1.17.8-3
/var/log/dpkg.log.5.gz:2023-09-30 11:41:57 upgrade libcairo2:amd64 1.17.8-3
1.18.0-1

Et voilà, it was _not just LO_ what was updated but also Cairo library (I must
sorry because I was not aware of this) which seems to trigger the LO font
rendering problem when anti aliasing is disabled system wide.

So the question is now:

- What kind of change has been implemented in Cairo that makes LO render fonts
so badly when anti-aliasing is turned off? And how can it be avoided and return
LO its fine and crispy font strokes?

- Why other programs (eg., XFCE itself, Firefox, Thunderbird...) seem
unaffected to the Cairo change?
