[Bug 160253] Heading numbering wrong on file reload
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160253 --- Comment #9 from Mike Kaganski --- Created attachment 193780 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=193780&action=edit A minimal reproducer for tdf#160253 This is a minimized FODT. It revealed that there is an interaction between several things there, namely, the outline / chapter / heading numbering, a numbering in the endnote, and - what's most odd - a numbering attached to the Heading style (the style that is the parent of all actual heading styles; and which normally doesn't need a numbering itself). Without the last piece, everything looks normal. Additionally (a separate issue), there's something wrong in FODT export. Simply re-saving the FODT as FODT will ruin the numbering. So to see the original issue, the attachment needs to be saved as ODT. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
[Bug 160758] New: I think there should be a way to turn off the automatic font changing
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160758 Bug ID: 160758 Summary: I think there should be a way to turn off the automatic font changing Product: LibreOffice Version: unspecified Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: aer0a...@gmail.com I think there should be a way to turn off the automatic font changing. For example, when I type certain characters (such as 「 and 」) and the font is set to Fairfax HD with a font size of 12pt, it changes to a NSimSun (at least it would've if I hadn't went into the specific setting and changed the font for the "Asian" character set to Fairfax HD) at a size of 10.5pt because 「 and 」 are part of the "Asian" character set, while the other characters I was using (characters in the UCSUR, which are assigned to private use characters) aren't. This is very annoying, so I think that there should be a way to turn this feature off. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone! [Bug 160755] New: The Footnote page style is nonsensical and should be removed
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160755 Bug ID: 160755 Summary: The Footnote page style is nonsensical and should be removed Product: LibreOffice Version: unspecified Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: eyalr...@gmx.com Created attachment 193778 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=193778&action=edit Example with footnotes exceeding past end of text Writer's Styles sidebar has a page style named "Footnote". A footnote appears at the bottom of a page, with its own page style. If a footnote extends to another page - then it appears underneath later text. And if, finally, the footnotes extend past the last text before a page break or the end of the document - then the last sequence of pages continues, with pages which may have no lines of proper text, but some lines of footnote text. This is how LibreOffice behaves; it never creates separate "Footnote" pages, and never - as far as I can tell - uses a "Footnote" page style. See the attached example, where the Default Page Style is green, but the Footnote page style is Red; no pages get a red background. And you're wondering: "But where do we make settings regarding footnotes, beyond what the Footnote paragraph style offers?" - there is an answer: Each Page Style includes some footnote-related settings, which we edit using the 'Footnote' tab of the Page Style dialog. So, we should simply remote the Footnote page style. It makes no sense, and seems to be unused. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160686 --- Comment #20 from Eyal Rozenberg --- (In reply to David from comment #19) > (In reply to Eyal Rozenberg from comment #18) > > 1. The "blank pages" the PDF has have neither the Left Page nor the Right > > Page style. > Of course not. If you have a page style set to only display on a right page, > then it is going to automatically insert a blank page if needed. ... making this kind of behavior somewhat hackish and not something one can properly control, at least the way it's implemented right now. I realize this may be useful to you, but it should not be one of the set of pre-defined page styles; you would still be able to create such a pair of styles yourself, if you like them. > From the documentation: > "Only right > The current page style shows only odd (right) pages. Even pages are shown as > blank pages. That's the non-sensical part, in two senses: * The concept of a "Right Page" (and "Left Page") is not well-defined, as I've explained in the opening comment. * Given almost any definition I can think of for a "right page" or a "left page" - it is independent of whether the page is odd or even. > It functions exactly as I need it to function and exactly as it was told to > function. If you don't want an automatically inserted blank page, then don't > use a style that sets Right Only or Left Only, but that doesn't mean that > for other people it's nonsensical. I understand that's exactly what you need. But it's still nonsensical pair of terms, and of styles, to have in the default set. I've never met seen a document, or met someone who writes documents, with this particular behavior: Pages with a gutter on the same side on all pages, but alternating page styles (not to mention the blank page behavior). > As I said before, they are if you enable book view. There is no "book view" when editing a document, AFAIK. Moreover, the "Right Page" and "Left Page" both have a gutter on the same side always, so they disagree with a "book view" apriori. > > 3. A blank page is added before the first page, even though there was no > > request to insert such a blank page. > By requesting a Left Only page, you just defined that you wanted that first > page to be on the left side. On the left side of _what_? > Therefore in order to accommodate your request > it will insert a blank page as per the documentation. "as per the documentation" - the documentation documents the behavior, it's not a justification for anything. Anyway, what request? I did not request to have a page before my first page. I "requested" for my first page to be a Left Page, and LibreOffice refused this "request" - making the _second_ page a Left Page, with my first page being blank with part (but not all) of the styling of a Right Page. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160686 --- Comment #19 from David --- (In reply to Eyal Rozenberg from comment #18) > 1. The "blank pages" the PDF has have neither the Left Page nor the Right > Page style. Of course not. If you have a page style set to only display on a right page, then it is going to automatically insert a blank page if needed. >From the documentation: "Only right The current page style shows only odd (right) pages. Even pages are shown as blank pages. Only left The current page style shows only even (left) pages. Odd pages are shown as blank pages." https://help.libreoffice.org/24.2/en-US/text/shared/01/05040200.html?&DbPAR=SHARED&System=WIN In particular, they ignore the page area color and the header > settings; and some of the blank pages (not all of them) ignore the page > border setting. Haven't tested other features. It functions exactly as I need it to function and exactly as it was told to function. If you don't want an automatically inserted blank page, then don't use a style that sets Right Only or Left Only, but that doesn't mean that for other people it's nonsensical. > 2. The extra pages are not visible while editing the document. As I said before, they are if you enable book view. But as the data is changed, the page requirements might also change. It may be a distraction if the blank pages continually appear and disappear while you're editing. But it is a nice feature that LibreOffice will take care of such requirements when it publishes the finished document. > 3. A blank page is added before the first page, even though there was no > request to insert such a blank page. By requesting a Left Only page, you just defined that you wanted that first page to be on the left side. Therefore in order to accommodate your request it will insert a blank page as per the documentation. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Bug 160686] "Left Page" and "Right Page" are nonsensical and should be removed
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160686 --- Comment #18 from Eyal Rozenberg --- (In reply to David from comment #16) > The document works perfectly as designed I don't know what you mean by "as designed", but the PDF with "export automatically-inserted blank page" has different problems: 1. The "blank pages" the PDF has have neither the Left Page nor the Right Page style. In particular, they ignore the page area color and the header settings; and some of the blank pages (not all of them) ignore the page border setting. Haven't tested other features. 2. The extra pages are not visible while editing the document. 3. A blank page is added before the first page, even though there was no request to insert such a blank page. I should probably also mention that, by default, both "Left Page" and "Right Page" have the gutter on the left side of the page (i.e. Left rather than Top and "on right side of page" deselected). [Bug 151031] FILESAVE XLS->ODS: use-optimal-row-height wrong on first save

[Bug 160752] New: Protect ratio as Image option
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160752 Bug ID: 160752 Summary: Protect ratio as Image option Product: LibreOffice Version: 24.8.0.0 alpha0+ Master Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: medium Component: LibreOffice Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: tele...@surfxs.nl Description: Protect ratio as Image option Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open attachment 185930 2. Press F4 3. In the position and size tab you have 'lock ratio' assuring resizing is done in ratio (OK) 4. Check the checkbox and press OK 5. Select the middle handle at the right and drag (it doesn't resize in ratio). Which makes the control in Image -> Position and size tab slightly ambiguous 6. Look at Image -> Options tab. Here we can protect Contents; position; size However it's impossible to protect simply the aspect ratio Actual Results: A) The lock ratio in Image -> Position and size tab is slightly ambiguous (IMHO) B) An option protect ratio is missing (at least in my opinion). Would also apply to Draw/Impress/Calc Expected Results: Regarding (A) no clue how to solve it (B) could/would be useful context of all the other protect options. And keep in mind: handles are harder to select with smaller images; so you might pick the wrong one. [Bug 143340] Undo/redo for checking/unchecking KeepRatio in Image Properties Dialog not properly handled

Because the UI of Image > properties dialog is changed in 24.8 (checkbox "Keep ratio" replaced by a > lock icon) I propose to put no effort into solving this bug but to close it. Are you sure: 1. open attached document "Test_Bildgröße_V2_keep_ratio_off.odt" 2. select the image and open the properties dialog -> KeepRatio is unchecked 3. check KeepRatio + exit by OK 4. Result: the Undo arrow (gray; disabled)/ Redo arrow (gray: disabled) No red point is added to the Save icon 5. Save 6. select the image and open the properties dialog again-> KeepRatio is still checked -> So apparently saved (as far I can tell) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

Copying of some text causes hanging of LibreOffice Writer. Only kill helps. The latest changes are permanently lost because autosaving is also impossible. To reproduce, we need some special text. Steps to reproduce: 1. To avoid lost data, save and close all of your work in LibreOffice; 2. Open the attached file; 3. Select the red characters in red font; 4. Press Ctrl+C; 5. Try to edit something. Current behaviour — freezing, approx. 25 % of CPU is used by soffice.bin. It's killable. Expected behaviour — no problem. If LibreOffice is started from terminal, there is no output. I tried the appimage portable version — the same behaviour. Deleting the configuration isn't helpful. In other places of the document, typing и; and copying works normally. I'm really out-of-ideas, what's happen. In some other documents, the same situation appears.
