[Bug 161746] New: With Ultrawide/High resolution display "Personalised" themes scaling leaves "unstyled" section

2024-06-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=161746

Bug ID: 161746
Summary: With Ultrawide/High resolution display "Personalised"
themes scaling leaves "unstyled" section
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: trivial
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: benjaminwint...@gmail.com

Description:
when display has a display width significantly higher than 1080p (such as with
some 2k and 4k displays) the texture used in "Options -> Personalisation" do
not span the tool bar completely. this applies to all "LibreOffice" sub
programs (writer, spreadsheet, etc). changing the window width will exaggerate
or reduce the effect accordingly.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.enforce a "high resolution" width (2k+)
2.under "options -> Personalisation" set a "preinstalled theme" (any)
3.note the untextured section to the top left. if effect is not visible,
stretch the width of the window until it is (window may have to exceed display
width depending on display hardware)

Expected Results:

details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

Thanks Jim. It is looking promising.

Have we decided then that the Find results deck is going to be common to the
QFS *AND* the F dialog? The Results panel is shaping up nicely to handle
both, question is if the F settings should impact the FindBar/QFS--or not.

Seems a cleaner break can be made if not, with the FindBar/QFS offering limited
options and the F dialog standing alone (even if its results end up delivered
via the Find deck).

here the number after 'exit' is GetMonotonicTicks() difference from entry, so I

different background.

> Now we're talking. That did correct the issue.

@Mark,

First, I’m glad that helped.

Please understand that most of the comments you see in this Bugzilla tracker
are made by volunteers, common users. This site is not for users' support, but
to report bugs or enhancement requests.

The next time you believe that something is not working as expected, instead of
immediately opening a new bug report please go to
and open a new topic with your doubts or problem. If other users in the Ask
forum can confirm that there is indeed a bug to report, _then_ you might want
to open a new bug report with clear steps to reproduce it and what exactly is
that you would expect to happen instead. You might also want to add a link to
the specific topic in the Ask forum; which usually helps too.

Opening tickets that don't turn out to be real bug reports is a lot of
resources being wasted, for all of us. Please keep in mind, again, that I am
just a common user like you, and most of us here are.

This is not the first time I suggest, to you specifically, going to the Ask
forum. The complaints and rants that I have read in some of your prior comments
don't help either. Next time I see a report from you, I will probably think
twice before using my time on it.

According to your comment 20, I am now closing this report as not-a-bug.

Now we're talking. That did correct the issue.

Problem: one does not know whether that feature is on or off since there is an
icon in the place where a check mark should be!

There are other features likewise depicted

Shouldn't something be done to facilitate knowing visually what's on and what
isn't?

So, you're saying that because I obliged Rafael to conduct the discussion on
one bug, this bug should be marked duplicate? Great way to incentivize courtesy
on BZ.

> And frankly it would be nice if you would take the time to review BZ for
> issues (open or resolved) before spamming us all and opening new
> orphaned/nuisance bugs for issues already under review.

I actually do that, but BZ search is rather weak so sometimes it misses. And
it's easier for me to miss when it's not a part of the bug tree which I'm
familiar with. I will try and remember to enable the search for resolved bugs
rather than sticking to unresolved ones.

> That leaves less mess in BZ for QA review to have to clean up. And when QA

"Grace" means not making arbitrary decisions after a previous discussion went a
different way. LO QA is a collaborative effort, not something embodied in your
person. Argue your case like anybody else.

If you were to suggest you wanted to roll up the two bugs into one, change the
title of 161709 accordingly, then mark this one as a dupe - I would have no
problem with that.

And frankly it would be nice if you would take the time to review BZ for issues

That leaves less mess in BZ for QA review to have to clean up. And when QA does

This only affects the Functions deck - after Esc takes you to the Search field,

Before I post additional instructions, please beware not to execute more than
one LO version at a time. You should rather close LO (24.2.4.2) before starting
LO Dev (25.2 alpha), or vice versa. It is fine to have both installed, but you
should avoid having both opened/running simultaneously.

> I followed those steps in a new calc sheet in LO v. 24.2.4.2.
> Font remains unchanged.

In LO 24.2.4.2, please go to menu View > Value highlighting. Is this ON, or
OFF? Please try changing this setting once, try changing the font color of cell
A1 again, and then change the same “Value highlighting“ setting once again.

Is there any effect on the displayed font color on cell A1 then?

According to your next comment, I might provide further instructions.

I must be missing something here.

If I display the Sidebar Deck, for example with the "Properties" of the active
cell, I can change some property (e.g. font size), and the focus will still be
on the active cell; for example if I immediately press the Down_arrow key, the
focus changes from the adjacent cell down one row.

The Sidebar Deck behaves not so much as a dialog window (for which indeed [ESC]
exists the dialog without saving, i.e. "cancel"), but rather as a UI toolbar.
This is expected, AFAIK.

Perhaps we need specific STR in order to reproduce the problem?

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=161744

Bug ID: 161744
Summary: Implement Cyrillic Mongolian numbering for headings
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.6.7.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: mongolie2006-freedesk...@yahoo.fr

Several Cyrillic alphabets are available for numbering headers in
Tools→"Heading numbering"→Numbering→"Number:", but Cyrillic Mongolian is not
there. The Mongolian Cyrillic alphabet is there:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mongolian_Cyrillic_alphabet#Description . It's
the official alphabet of (outer) Mongolia. I guess it would not be difficult to
add it.

An alternative would be to allow the user to define an alphabet he/she wants to
use for such a purpose.

(See also bug#115189 for the Mongol-Uyghur alphabet)

Oh, it's actually true that hitting Esc in Sidebar enough times should send
focus back to document and it works like that in other decks:
https://design.blog.documentfoundation.org/2017/02/16/guidelines-for-keyboard-navigation-in-the-sidebar/

"Use Escape to go back one step in the navigation, meaning from the content to
the content panel title and then to the document."

[Bug 161645] Font Colour not working

2024-06-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=161645

I followed those steps in a new calc sheet in LO v. 24.2.4.2.
Font remains unchanged.
I can change fill in colour of the cell but NOT the font colour.

If I use LO Dev 25.2, then there is no issue.

[Bug 161645] Font Colour not working

2024-06-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=161645

@Mark,

For anyone to be able to solve a problem, the problem has to be replicated. I
am a common user, just as you. I have tested the behavior you reported with LO
Calc on Windows, and I do not reproduce it.

I would like to kindly ask you to follow a few simple steps, in order to move
this report forward:

1. Save and close other documents and programs that are not related to this
test.
2. Start a new empty Calc spreadsheet.
3. In cell A1, type-in "Text" (without quotation marks).
4. Press the [ENTER] key on your keyboard.

4.1. At this point, the most common behavior is that the active cell is by now
cell A2, while the typed-in text is shown on cell A1.

5. Using the arrow keys of your keyboard, move the focus back to the prior cell
A1. If the conditions in the prior step ("4.1") were met in your case, then
pressing the "UP" arrow key in your keyboard should set cell A1 as the active
cell.

6. With cell A1 being the active cell, click on the icon that changes the font
color. The icon is a split button: clicking on the right-side down arrow that
is part of the icon would allow you to select a different color than the
current default ("Dark Red 2").

After following these steps, the font color of the content of cell A1 should be
changed according to the color you selected (in the above step 6). According to
your next comment, I might add some more steps for you to follow, in order to
find out what the problem could be (so it could be solved).

Do you see the Text within cell A1 being displayed with the selected font color
then?

Excellent collage of screenshots! I really agree that the way Excel displays
the selection is the best. We should follow the same strategy in my opinion.

I don't want to have to know about a special shortcut. Esc should work. It
works in a lot of other contexts, and should work here as well. I don't mind if
Ctrl+F6 does the same thing too...

> It belongs to the accessibility short cuts.

I expect to be able to back out of entering the functions sidebar deck
regardless of accessibility considerations.

5 Screenshots exemplifying how LO 24.8 rectangle hides adjacent cell contents;
MSO, LO 24.2, LO 24.8

Adding a comparative grid of screenshots and related comments from the related
bug 161740:

While the aesthetics of this focus rectangle are annoying, the more significant
problem IMHO. Is cell content being hidden. If a wide rectangle is drawn on the
inside, it will hide the cell's own contents; and if a wide rectangle is drawn
on the outside (especially with the extra pixel(s) of clearance from the active
cell edge) - it will hide other cells' contents, and possibly more than just
one. That is really detrimental and frustrating, requiring artificial movement
just to figure out what the cell actually contains.

I believe that the width must be _limited_, and moreover, must be split between
the inside and the outside of the cell, so that none of their contents is drawn
over by the focus rectangle, nor touched at the adjacent pixel. That is to say
- Excel gets it right. :-(

[Bug 161743] New: Should be able to return focus from function sidebar deck to cell with Esc key

2024-06-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=161743

Bug ID: 161743
Summary: Should be able to return focus from function sidebar
deck to cell with Esc key
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 24.8.0.0 alpha0+
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: eyalr...@gmx.com

While the function sidebar deck is not a dialog, it is dialog-like enough, so
that I expect, when pressing Esc while in it, that I returned to the state of
it not being there, i.e. returned to keyboard focus on the current cell. ...
but that doesn't happen; Esc seems to do nothing while the focus remains within
the function sidebar deck.

Bikeshedding: Esc could move from one widget within the rectangle to another,
and then out with another Esc - or directly out of the sidebar deck right away.

Actually, it's even _worse_! If I'm in _another_ sidebar deck, and create a new
document, the focus switches to the functions deck :-(

Version: 24.2.3.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 433d9c2ded56988e8a90e6b2e771ee4e6a5ab2ba
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 6.6; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-IL (en_IL); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

but let me also try another nightly or the beta.

[Bug 161742] New: When creating a new spreadsheet while in the Functions sidebar deck, focus stays in deck

2024-06-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=161742

Bug ID: 161742
Summary: When creating a new spreadsheet while in the Functions
sidebar deck, focus stays in deck
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 24.8.0.0 alpha0+
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: eyalr...@gmx.com

Reproduction:

1. Create a new Calc document.
2. Expand the sidebar.
3. Switch to the functions sidebar deck.
4. Create a new document, either with File > New > Spreadsheet or with Ctrl+N
5. type some text

Expected result:
Text is typed in cell A1 of the new document

Actual result:
Text is typed in the search textbox of the functions sidebar (for cell A1)

This confounds user expectations. The user absolutely does not want to be
placed in the function sidebar deck, for an empty cell in an empty document
which they have just created.

The keyboard focus, after new document creation, should be on a sheet cell.
