[Bug 161647] Allow headers to be aligned vertically to bottom

2024-06-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=161647

(In reply to Justin L from comment #3)

Indeed, you are right. I must say, that I didn't imply that other office suites
have this feature; I only meant that having this feature, we can re-create the
layout that they have, more easily. I know that I had a clear idea how would it
be possible - but when I try to re-create my idea now, I can't remember what I
meant ... shame on me: it was only a bit more than a week ago :-(

While this would be a nice feature, with the opposite interoperability concern
that you raised, it is very valid to WONTFIX.

NOTE: It is generally not recommended to manually edit the zip container of a
file to try and remove a macro warning. Doing so can potentially corrupt the
file or cause other issues. It is best to follow proper procedures for
disabling macros or consulting with someone familiar with handling macro
warnings in files.

Dear Telesto,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

looking at the output of xpdfimport, there are 222903 fillPath's and 223411
updateFillColors (most grouped one fillPath/one update) and I'm pretty sure
most are in the section 7 of the page.
(There are also some HUGE clippaths, I think ~20k points??? but I think those
are later).
Now I need to follow back into xpdfimport to see where they're coming from.

Yup, I still think so. In GTK (Cinnamon), it looks to me like every document
receives the session_client_signal, so all the frames would need to coordinate
a single call to vnd.sun.star.autorecovery:/doSessionSave and
vnd.sun.star.autorecovery:/doSessionQuietQuit. And that is what VCLSession
appears to be in charge of.

Comment 19's patch fixes the Microsoft formats.

I don't like these adhoc exceptions, so I didn't
attempt to apply them to ODF formats.
Let's keep it simple for ODF - any char format that applies
to the entire paragraph should apply to numbering as well
(except for the existing underline/overline exceptions).

I'll leave this bug report open to for anyone who disagrees with me and wants
their name attached to complicating ODF.

I connected the Instruments application to LibreOffice running from my local
master build (you can also connect Instruments to nightly builds as well),
opened https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=192460, exported
to PDF from the toolbar button, and closed the document window.

In attachment #195028, the Allocations graph is at 3.0 GB and the lowest
function call in the largest leak's stack (i.e. the selected line near the
bottom right corner) is 2.85 GB. Seems like a pretty specific macOS-only memory
leak so I'll look at the code tomorrow and post again when I have some news.

@Pierre François and all: thanks for the bug report and feedback!

Commit description:

df#92029 AutoCorrect: correct 's and 't in Dutch to apostrophe

“In Dutch (in Belgium as in the Netherlands), when you type "'s"
or "'t" in sentences like: "Ik ben 's morgens opgestaan", the
apostrophe is changed into an opening quote by the autocorrect
feature, which is incorrect and requires a manual correction.”

The bug reported with the suggested AutoCorrect extension
by Pierre François. The difference here is always to use the
de facto standard typographic apostrophe in the replacement.

Perhaps - but only because that is the easiest way to undo multiple actions in
one step. The "redo" step can be achieved via Ctrl+Y or the menu and still
cause the crash.

The key in reproducing is to undo both "typing: something" and "Header/footer

AFAICS, doing this would be a problem when exporting to MS formats. At least in
Word's UI I don't see a similar capability.

Well, at least for the MS header. The header is always top aligned - as defined
by "Header from top" which defaults to 1/2 inch. A second line in the header
moves closer to the body text - the same as LO now does it. So MSO "Header from
top" == LO "page top margin", and MSO "page top margin" == LO "margin + header
height + spacing".

The MS footer is basically the reverse of the header. So the footer is always
bottom aligned (which LO can mimic nicely with its dynamic spacing feature).

So from what I can see, this requested feature could not be exported to DOCX
format. (In other words, it might be best to force the table workaround for
those who really want this kind of layout.)

A long document with unstable table of content

Open the attached document (a modified document from
https://ask.libreoffice.org/t/page-numbers-change-when-exporting-as-pdf/107328).
Update the table of content. Ctrl+Click on the last element of the table of
content (#14), and check that the page shown in the table is the same as the
number of the page itself (shown in the footer).

Export to PDF using File->Export As->Export Directly as PDF.
Open the PDF, and check that the table of content shows the same page number
for the last element, but navigating there, the actual page number is
different.

Yes it does (saved as _xlfn.FORMULATEXT(...)). You could easily try by saving
the loaded document to a new .xlsx file and either inspect its (zip)
xl/worksheets/sheet*.xml streams, or loading it in Excel.

> LibreOffice seems to silently remove the `@` character.
As I mentioned in comment 5 there is no @ character stored in the formula thus
Calc does not remove it. If it was present in the formula then the result would
be a #NAME? error or similar. The cell saved in the .xlsx
xl/worksheets/sheet3.xml stream is literally

VLOOKUP(A:A,D:E,2,FALSE)
15

It's all an Excel UI feature depending on whether it has dynamic arrays enabled
or not.

It's not a feature request right? XOutputStream already works in

I'm not asking for XOutputStream support in the LibreOffice command.

[Bug 161820] New: OpenType "lnum" (lining numbers) feature does not work properly for numerical cells inside a table

2024-06-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=161820

Bug ID: 161820
Summary: OpenType "lnum" (lining numbers) feature does not work
properly for numerical cells inside a table
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 24.2.4.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ldrumb...@openmailbox.org

Created attachment 195023
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=195023=edit
A document containing a table of numbers with the lining number feature enabled

Steps to reproduce:

1. Install the free and open-source font "Zilla Slab", available at
https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Zilla+Slab (or any other font that includes a
lining numerals OpenType feature)
2. Create a table in which some of the entries are only a number or
comma-separated numbers
3. Activate Zilla Slab's lining numerals (lnum) feature through Format →
Character → Features or set the document's font to "Zilla Slab:lnum"

Expected behaviour: in the table entries that contain only a number or a number
followed by a comma, the number displays in the lining number form, as it does
for the table entries that contain letters.

Actual behaviour: in the table entries that contain only a number or a
comma-separated number followed by a comma, the numbers display as their
default non-lining forms. Even stranger, if any alphabetic character is typed
in the cell, all digits in the cell switch to their lining form.

Attached is a file that reproduces the bug.

Thanks for the report.

Reproduced with:

Version: 24.2.4.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 51a6219feb6075d9a4c46691dcfe0cd9c4fff3c2

Steps:
1. Create new Character style that has a yellow wave overline in the "Font
Effects" tab
2. Apply it to a word in a sample text
3. Edit > Find and Replace > click "Format" > Font Effects > use the same
yellow wave overline, click "OK"
4. In Find and Replace dialog still, tick "Including Styles" (made available
after step 3)
5. Click "Find Next"

Result: no match found

Not reproduced in LO 7.6.7.

Started at the same commit as bug 161182, marking as duplicate.
(Just like there, was also broken in 7.6.1, but later fixed in that branch,
whereas 24.2 and current master are still broken.)

[Bug 161819] New: enable inheriting chapter numbering from parent style

2024-06-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=161819

Bug ID: 161819
Summary: enable inheriting chapter numbering from parent style
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 24.2.4.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: christian.pietz...@gmail.com

Description:
I found some reference to this issue/idea in the forum but not in Bugzilla.
https://ask.libreoffice.org/t/multiple-paragraph-styles-per-chapter-numbering-level/56979/4

Right now only one paragraph style per level can be defined to have the
automatic chapter numbering. Sometimes there might be cases where different
header styles with the same chapter level would be useful.
For example my university requires no space when a level 2 header follows right
below a level 1 header. But if you have text in between there is supposed to be
a defined amount of space. The university also offers a document template but
for MS Office which unfortunately breaks when trying to use in LibreOffice.

Having the ability to inherit chapter numbering from the parent style (you
create a style depending on 'header 2' for example) would be a big time safer
by not having to manually adjust header paragraphs depending on their context.
It would also improve compatibility towards MS Office and make migration
easier.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. create a paragraph style dependent on a header paragraph style that is part
of the automatic chapter numbering

Actual Results:
chapter numbering is shown under Lists & numbering tab but is not getting
applied to paragraphs in the document

Expected Results:
child styles inherit chapter numbering from parent style

Reproducible: Always

The PDF Export dialog gives another warning about all these issues

Another angle when demoting A11Y issues to warnings could be the PDF export
dialog, which gives a popup before exporting, if the PDF/UA box is enabled and
there are some issues.

The number here can be scarily high, in a large document with lots of direct
formatting (which is also fine, usually) this can be overwhelming. See also bug
159906.

So this popup should only count the real errors, and skip the less important
warnings.

[Bug 157233] A11y sidebar: Add option to ignore warnings

--- Comment #1 from Gabor Kelemen (allotropia) ---
I'd take this to a different direction. Some warnings we currently have in the
sidebar do not result in an error being reported by the PAC tool
(https://pac.pdf-accessibility.org/en ).

To help users prioritizing issues, I suggest to:

* introduce separate issue categories, Error and Warning, based on how the PAC
tool reports them (which also has this sort of distinction)
* show warnings in a separate section below errors
* do not count warnings in the PDF Export dialogs confirmation popup, only the
errors
* warnings usually do not have/need a Fix button, instead we could show an
Explanation button ( (i) icon?) that would show on press/highligh/hover why is
something considered incorrect and how to fix it.
