@wjsim,
You claim you can replicate this report under Windows, while this report is
presented for macOS. FWIW, I also attempted to replicate this under Windows,
but I don't see the problem on any version I tested – I can clearly see the
selected area under some colored background. This is the reason I asked for a
sample spreadsheet file in comment 1.

I would suggest for you to attach a minimal sample spreadsheet file to the
report, showing the problem, so other users with macOS can attempt to replicate
the problem.
