clip of dot underline indicator for exposed hidden text

@Jay, *

Is this even valid? Hidden text is indicated when exposed by the formatting
marks toggle.

On Windows 8.1 Ent 64-bit en-US with
Version: 5.3.3.2 (x64)
Build ID: 3d9a8b4b4e538a85e0782bd6c2d430bafe583448
CPU Threads: 8; OS Version: Windows 6.29; UI Render: default; Layout Engine:
new;
Locale: en-US (en_US); Calc: group

and with

Version: 5.4.0.0.alpha1+ (x64)
Build ID: d33e262a244f351febc9dbe605b05f76cb834eeb
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 6.29; UI render: GL;
TinderBox: Win-x86_64@62-TDF, Branch:MASTER, Time: 2017-05-08_01:51:26
Locale: en-US (en_US); Calc: CL

A screen clip of text with the "Hidden" Character dialog -> Font Effects
attribute, shows with dotted underline when exposed with the Tools -> Options
-> LibreOffice Writer -> Formatting Adis "Hidden text" check box enabled and
Formatting Marks enabled.

Seems i must have been confused with either 'Fields: Hidden Paragraphs' or
'Fields: Hidden Text' thinking it was hidden text, as the dotted underlines
have been there since 3.3.

Okay, I understand the non-printable argument. Is there any other use case
beyond that? I mean why is the text hidden in Writer when its relevant on the
export whether or not those parts should be shown?

Writing exercises for my pupils, where I want to keep questions and answers in
one document, but only print the questions. Or more general, to put information
into the document, which should not be printed but be available to the author.
People use a style with hidden text, or hidden sections or fields, and
sometimes combine it with conditions.

I not sure why people use hidden text, but i've read bug reports where hidden
text is talked about. @Cor, @Stuart, @Regina, @Sophie: any thoughts on why
people use hidden text?

Initially i thought that we could highlight the hidden text with the color used
for formatting marks, but that would overwrite the original text color.

May I ask here about the use case for hidden text? Some requests recently but
no clear scenario, AFAIS.
