I just tried with Archlinux (LO 5.2.2) and it works correctly.

Maybe it's only 5.2.1 or only MacOS X.

I don't have a MacOS X available currently

It's not PDF but printing for real. Else it's exactly what was described by
Alex.

We tried further and realized that the button "portrait" would produce
landscape dimension in the text box near to it (in Format>Page), although it's
indeed represented as portrait in the page.

Correcting the size in the text box allows correct printing. This setting is
however forgotten if you re-open the file.

I hope it's clearer

So :

1) Create new Impress file
2) Change page orientation to Portrait.
3) Fill page with text.
4) Save (to ODP)
5) Cmd-P to open print dialog.
6) Choose "Save as PDF" as the output option in the OSX dropdown dialog.
7) Enter file name for new PDF file. Press "Save" button
8) PDF file saved as replica of screen representation of ODP file.

Still no repro.

@Olivier : if you are doing something different, please tell us, otherwise we
are just second guessing.

Sigh, I'd better read more carefully, I tested with Export to PDF...

No repro for me either with

Version: 5.2.1.2
Build ID: 31dd62db80d4e60af04904455ec9c9219178d620
Threads CPU : 2; Version de l'OS :Mac OS X 10.12; UI Render : par défaut;
Locale : fr-FR (fr_FR.UTF-8); Calc: group

You need to set the slide format to A4 instead of the default 4:3 Screen, and
also set the Page orientation to Protrait. This works for me.
