I don't understand the "dash line moves up closer" part. When I do the steps,
the lines all look the same.

The lines are actually borders automatically applied to the paragraph. If you
don't like the automatic behaviour, go to Tools - Autocorrect - Autocorrect
options - Options tab: untick both boxes before Apply border.

The behaviour in step 14 is a feature. You can clear individual border lines as
described here:
https://help.libreoffice.org/Common/Drawing_Lines_in_Text
"To remove an automatically drawn border, choose Format - Paragraph - Borders
and select no border."

Ie. move your cursor to the line you want to get rid of and go to Format -
Paragraph etc. Select the "Set no borders" from the Presets and press ok.

I will close this report.

when I tried to reply to Xisco fauli's email the reply was rejected as not
sent.
It turned out that I had to go to this web site to make a reply. It would be
nice if I could have replied to the email that I was sent without needing to go
to another website to make the reply.

Here is the reply I tried to send:

so i had to simulate what my page look liket in this document

NOTE the dash lines here did not shift up near the f and g lines

Maybe this will demo the dash line problem that I am experiencing with
LibreOffice Writer

The same issues are in all version of LibreOffice Writer that I have used and
do not appear in MS Office Word

I use Windows 10 and Widows 7 and Ubuntu Linux

1. I used the arrow key to go down to create the d line
2. I typed the d line then I hit the enter key at the end
3. Then hit the dash key to create the dash line
4. Then I used the arrow key to go down to create the f line
5 NOTE THE DASH LINE DID NOT MOVE UP CLOSER TO THE D LINE
6. Then I hit the dash key to create the dash line
7. Then I hit the enter key at the end of the dash line
8 NOTE THE DASH LINE MOVE UP CLOSER TO THE f LINE
9. Then I used the arrow key to go down to create the h line
10. I typed the h line then I hit the enter key at the end
11. Then I hit the dash key to create the dash line
12. Then I hit the enter key at the end of the dash line
13. NOTE THE DASH LINE MOVE UP CLOSER TO THE h LINE
14. Then I used the arrow key to move to the end of the h line
14. Then I hit the enter key 5 times and instead of 5 new line space I got 5
dash lines
15 NOTE it is impossible to remove the all of the dash lines that move closer
to the
proceeding text line without removing the text line itself

Please Let me know if you can fix this dash line problem

Take care!

Unfortunately without clear steps to reproduce it, we cannot track down the
origin of the problem.
Please provide a clearer set of step-by-step instructions on how to reproduce
the problem.
I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to
'UNCONFIRMED' once the steps are provided

I have investigated my Writer problem an Base problems further in both Win10
and Ubuntu Linux 16.04 LTS.

I am reporting that I had a Win10 automatic update after I submitted my initial
bug report.

I am using LibreOffice 5.1.6.2 in Ubuntu Linux and LibreOffice 5.3.3.2 in
Win10.

The problems I previously described with BASE seems to have gone away in both
the Linux and win10 systems

But the Writer problem still exists in both the Linux an win10 systems.

Any dash line the I make with the repeated dash keystroke cannot be simply
deleted

I can only remove the dash line by going to the format menu and using the
"clear direct formatting" selection.

I hope that this problem can be corrected

Thanks for your help with this matter

HI-

My LibreOffice was 5.2.7

I downloaded LibreOffice 5.3.3.2and tested for the problems that I described in
my original bug report and the same problems still exist.

The Writer dash line problem can only be removed with the format menu clear
direct formatting choice. You cannot delete the dash line by highlighting the
dash and selecting delete in the right click context menu

The Base table creating problems till exist and are very serious.

In the table creation wizard, you cannot rearrange the table column names
easily or insert a blank table column in the column list the insert always
occurs at the end.

I can do all of this easily in MS-Access table creation.

Keep me informed if you can correct the problems I have described.

Thanks for your help in this matter!

Take Care!

Thank you for reporting the bug.
it seems you're using an old version of LibreOffice.
Could you please try to reproduce it with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ?
I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to
'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the latest version.
