Dear jonas,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team

For what it's worth, I moved to python-docx and I'm no longer using the HTML
import since in its current shape, it just doesn't produce a very usable result
without manual editing (which simply doesn't scale)

Yea but the overall page margins are still very asymmetrical with less margin
on the right side. It's not that obvious with this test file with no text line
reaching the right border, but in any document with actual text it's painfully
obvious...

PDF export from ODT, no margins in body

Chapter 1 and 2 do not have the left margin, if I remove the margin rule for
body in the .html

(In reply to Buovjaga from comment #3)
> I don't know why you say this

Was an oversight of mine. However, I just tested that if you remove the
style="margin:50px", the same thing happens - so it doesn't seem to actually
have any effect on this bug and the margins truly seem to be resulting from
thin air.

While this may be a minor issue, it leaves me with no obvious possibility of
generating a word document from simple formatted text that I don't manually
need to edit afterwards (which breaks my automated workflow, I'm trying to
export this from another software).

Therefore, I'd be very interested in workaround ideas, if anyone has any. Like,
any approach to take simple formatted text with headings and bold stuff and get
an .odt in an automated conversion. I could generate any sort of basic format
to help with this as long as it's not a huge amount of work to implement...

I don't know why you say this as the body clearly has 50px margin for all 4
sides:

Also tested with 3.3.0 and reproduced:
libo33 -headless -convert-to odt -outdir . 'index.html'
