For formats missing the \defchp as the sample document here we need to add the 1\6th em U+2006 additional space on import. Apparently that is not the case with this "generated" RTF. If I delete all the extra \u2006 1/6th em spacing added by the RTF import filter (for see also bug 123703 [1]) the formatting with a mon0-sapce font substitution at 10pt (Courier New or Consolas) fits to the single page with formatting matching the PDF. So, is this NOTOURBUG? Or should we adjust ww8 filter to accommodate a non-compliant RTF generator? Especially with a > suite with quite some functionality There is very obviously no hard and fast rule to classify "bug(s) like these", but what confidence does it instil in people if even a single one A4-sized document that only uses the most basic of RTF features cannot be rendered correctly in Writer. Hell, if it uses a font that's not on the system, why not open a pop-up that asks the user which font to substitute. I still use the Word XP freebie that came with my old AD 2003 PC, and I've set it up to show me a pop-up whenever I open something non-.DOC. How hard would it be to add a similar feature to Writer, when opening a non-.ODT format file, with a warning that it may not render correctly, just as there is one when saving in non-.ODT formats? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

And don't tell me to use .ODT, unless you have a version of LO that runs on IBM's z/OS, which is where dozens of our files originate. .ODT is a stunningly complicated bloatware format and .RTF is just simple plain text that can very easily be created on z/OS. And your "but the tab stops (haphazardly set on generation of the RTF) will cause issues for the alignment and lines." remark is plain arrogant! The tabs were purposely set to the values in the document to generate the three-column layout! This RTF format document is formatted with a "Cubiculum" monospaced font at 10pt--which of course is not going to be present most systems. Substitution of Courier New will work--but with bcz of different font metrics would need to be reduced to 9pt, but the tab stops (haphazardly set on generation of the RTF) will cause issues for the alignment and lines.
