[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 153591] Spellchecking can not be disabled
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=153591 --- Comment #5 from Victor --- I am sorry to say that I found that the spellchecker can be disabled at the bottom of the spreadsheet - so I think we should close this bug, which is not even a bug, but a feature - the spellchecking button seems to be intended to start the word-by-word spellchecking process, while the underlining of the erroneous words can be disabled at the bottom. Actually spellchecking is useful, and cells can be marked as written in different languages - but that can not be saved in .xlsx format, it can only be saved in .ods format. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 153591] Spellchecking can not be disabled
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=153591 --- Comment #3 from Joel --- I cannot confirm this bug in Windows 11 LO 7.5.1.2. I tested the following words, one word per cell: The quick brown fox eht kciuq nworb xof Disabling and enabling spell check via Tools | Automatic Spell Check behaved as expected: incorrect words had a red squiggly underline with Spell Check enabled and did not have that indication when Spell Check was disabled. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 153591] Spellchecking can not be disabled
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=153591 --- Comment #2 from ady --- It would be nice if someone with a more recent version of LO could try to reproduce this under Linux, as Lesline's test is under Windows. I also assume that users might not always want to turn the spell checking off altogether, but rather would like for LO to accept the Language / Locale that was set in the document (or in the specific selected text). @Victor, perhaps attaching a minimal document (in the bug report, "Add an attachment") showing the problem might help for others reproduce it. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=153591 Lesline changed: What|Removed |Added CC||leslinetest...@gmail.com --- Comment #1 from Lesline --- Hello Victor. Thank you for reporting the bug. I followed your steps and added some foreign text which the spellchecker marked as erroneous [as expected]. I was however, able to disable the spellchecker by following the instructions at the link below which I found after a search. Once I disabled the spellchecker, the foreign text was no longer marked as erroneous. The steps are: Tools > Language > For All Text > None(Do Not Check Spelling) https://ask.libreoffice.org/t/turn-off-spell-check/65490 Versions used to test are as follows: Version: 7.6.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: a834bbad8295cba0ca88a91a524aad48640271ec CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19044; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US Calc: threaded Version: 7.5.0.3 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: c21113d003cd3efa8c53188764377a8272d9d6de CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19044; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US Calc: threaded Kind Regards -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
