Looking at your 2 screenshots, it seems you don't use LibreOffice but Microsoft
Office since there's "Word".

different).

Great! I suppose LO uses the extension to identify the type of file.

EXEC file example 1 renamed into "file1.doc"

Renaming to .docx didn't work. I received these two alert messages (attached).
The .cwk worked great.

It wasn't clear to me how to rename my LO directory profile. My Mac OS is
13.3.1 (22E261)

Any thoughts on why I was able to open these types of files without adding the
.cwk on previous versions of your app?

Thanks - Lysa

well yay! I changed the extension to .cwk and it immediately opens in LO. It's
magic! How does this work? Is it just that LO doesn't "know" what it's looking

First file is a Microsoft Word file with former native format "doc". ("former"
because the recent one is "docx").

Second file is Apple Works/Claris Works extension (see
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AppleWorks).

Do you still reproduce this after the renaming?

BTW, what's your precise version of macOS ?
Also, just in case, could you rename your LO directory profile? (see
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FirstSteps#Corrupted_user_profile) and
give a new try?

EXEC file example 1 renamed into "file2.cwk"

On pc Debian x86-64 with LO Debian package 7.4.5.1 or with master sources
updated today, I could open the EXEC file.

Perhaps it may help to rename it a bit, I called it "file2.cwk".

Both files contain the same thing:
"Please Join Us In Celebrating the Life of etc..."

EXEC file example 1

I've attached examples of EXEC files per your request. I have used LibreOffice
for the last 5 years (at least!) to open this kind of file to view the
contents. For example most of these files are from my father's old computer and
he used ClarisWorks for almost everything; so I used LibreOffice to read them.
This problem occurred after I updated my LibreOffice software earlier this
week. Thanks!

It's quite expected LO doesn't open an executable file.
Executable file are runned directly by OS (Windows, macOS, Linux)

Just to be sure we're talking about the same thing, would it be possible you
attach the EXEC file?
