Do the following in still in MS Word: Change pagestyle of first page to "First Page" or equivalent "Title Page". Leave the pagestyle of the other subsequent pages to be "Standard". Add page header and footer to the "Standard" pages. Save .doc. Then open the .doc in LO, change some text and save the .doc. Then it should loose the header/footer of the "Standard" pagestyle pages. If header/footer are present on first page, they are preserved.
