I do not why you see a problem here while the blinking cursor can't hide the
selection borders because it is blinking.

Closing as WorksForMe.

Best regards. JBF

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 58547] EDITING: cursor overwrites selection border

2015-03-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #11 from QA Administrators qa-ad...@libreoffice.org ---
** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present on a currently supported version of
LibreOffice (4.4.1 or later)
https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the version of
LibreOffice and your operating system, and any changes you see in the bug
behavior

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a short comment that includes your version of
LibreOffice and Operating System

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a
particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3)

http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to inherited from OOo;
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add regression to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=libreoffice-qa

Thank you for your help!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 58547] EDITING: cursor overwrites selection border

But I'm now on Ubuntu 12.10 and can confirm it. So status to 'NEW'
I lowered the importance to 'low', because this is a 'trivial' bug. There
are more important bugs to crunch right now.

Well, personally i find it quite annoying. It makes LibreOffice look quite
unpolished, just like the flickering-cursor bug
(https://www.libreoffice.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=54871).

Thanks for the extra information!

I still can't confirm this bug with Mac OS X 10.8.2; Maybe Mac OSX handles the
cursor a bit different then Ubuntu or Windows?

Does this mean you can confirm the bug for Windows and Linux now? If so I think
the bug status could be shifted from UNCONFIRMED to NEW.

About Mac OSX I can't say anything, because I don't own a Mac system.

Greetings,

Santiago

No I was assuming that Mac OSX handles a cursor/selection a little bit
different.

But I'm now on Ubuntu 12.10 and can confirm it. So status to 'NEW'
I lowered the importance to 'low', because this is a 'trivial' bug. There are
more important bugs to crunch right now.

But thanks for reporting anyways! Maybe a beginning developer will pick this
up.

 what version/operation
system you used for the good behavior? Maybe it's a regression on Windows.

I can reproduce this bug for LibreOffice 3.6.4.3, OpenOffice 3.4.1 and
LibreOffice 4.0.0.0 beta1 under both Windows XP SP3 and Windows Vista SP2.

I also checked it for LibreOffice 3.5.2.2 under Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (see new
screenshots).

For better reproduction you can choose a bigger font size (like 14 or 18),
since that way the cursor and the selection border will also get bigger.

You have a screenshot of good and bad behavior

The screenshots were taken from the same version and the same system. The
manifestation of the bug depends on the letters of the word the cursor
traverses.

During the selection process move the mouse cursor slowly over a word and you
will see that while the text cursor jumps from letter to letter sometimes it
overwrites the selection border and sometimes it doesn't.

Can't reproduce using Ubuntu 12.10, LO 4.1.0.0.alpha0+ (Build ID:

You have a screenshot of good and bad behavior; what version/operation system

Thanks for filling this bug anyway!
