If have just became aware of it when I wanted to get the sum of two fields:
instead of the result you get only ##### as if the field is too small for the
result, but it isn´t.

You can create the bug easily by yourself.

1. Open an empty spreadsheet
2. enter a value in one cell, for example 100
3. enter a value in the cell below, for example 2900
4. mark the two cells and the following one and press the sum symbol.
5. instead of 3000 all you see is ####
6. Choose file => preview: There you can read 3000. 

OS: WIN7, 64-bit (LO 4.0.2, German Edition
I can´t exclude that this bug exist since 4.0.x.
Under 3.6.x the display is correct
