OK to comments 7 and 10 ?

ign_christian : what would be the specification of your solution ? Is it :
- unmerge the offending destination cells,
- paste with prior move of to data to make room,
- remerge the unmerged cells? or not?
Any case, I doubt it can be explanable, even useful. Firstly, it defeats the
application of the reporter Rusbearing.
Feel free to contest and put the status back to UNCONFIRMED.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 65648] Copy - Insert Cells can't be performed correctly

2013-10-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=65648

--- Comment #10 from Dominique Boutry dominique.bout...@laposte.net ---
When you insert, delete or paste some cell(s) with the shift cells down/right
checked, the cells you move can't be merged with cells not included in the
move. This is unavoidable.

So you can't insert (with shift cells down) columns A:G at line 8 because the
cells [to.odt]A14:H14 are marged (at least them ; some others too). Solutions
:
- either make the room (InsertLines) in step 1 and standard copy/paste in step
2,
- or copy/paste-special range A9:H106 (instead of A9:G106) with shift down
set.
- or copy/paste-special line-range 9:106 (instead of cell-range A9:G106) with
shift down set.

NotABug.

(In reply to comment #5)
I think the proper way to do it is:
 Copy the range.
Go to the cell where to begin the insertion.
 Menu/Edit/Paste special [Ctrl+Shift+V] - Shift cells - down.

Yes, it's the most proper way, but it doesn't work.

Probably, LO should not check merged cells when inserting with Shift cells
option enabled.

Maybe your insertion is going to break the merged range, so looks fine to me
the error message. If the inserted range is longer or higher than the merged
range, then it is possible to do it.

Maybe I have different perception doing that.

Testing on attached files, it's ok with ordinary Paste but fail with in 'Insert
cells' or 'Paste Special' (together with Shift cells Down).
So, in my opinion, it should be done because it's not depend on target cell
(that we only select 1 cell, not cells). And source cells not contain merged
cells.

 4. Next try: I select cells A8:H8 ( 8 columns, more than my table has )
Then, I press right mouse button on A8, press Insert as..., select option
 Move cells ... down
and... get what I want, I just need to delete last column.
Even I can't do that on LO 4.0.4.1 (Win7 32bit) - only adding 1 blank row.
Oh no..not regression I hope

Hi Rusbearing,

I think the proper way to do it is:
Copy the range.
Go to the cell where to begin the insertion.
Menu/Edit/Paste special [Ctrl+Shift+V] - Shift cells - down.

Please if this works for you change the status to RESOLVED NOTABUG.
