[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 68904] FILTER: The new Import filters for AppleWorks/ClarisWorks don't work for spreadsheets
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68904 David Tardon dtar...@redhat.com changed: What|Removed |Added Status|UNCONFIRMED |RESOLVED Resolution|--- |NOTABUG CC||dtar...@redhat.com --- Comment #1 from David Tardon dtar...@redhat.com --- The libwpd API that libmwaw uses only handles text documents. There is a comparable API for import of spreadsheets in liborcus, but so far nobody has used it to write additional import filters (other than the few that are already part of liborcus). I am closing this report, because technically it is not a bug, but a known limitation of what libmwaw can do. And it only marginally touches libreoffice anyway, as libmwaw is not even under our control. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68904 --- Comment #2 from chd...@gmail.com --- OK, that's fine, but then you guys should advertise the limitation. Instead of saying Hey, Appleworks now! in New Features, you should say Hey, Appleworks now (Word Processing and Drawing only)! Where do you read that? What I see is Support for Legacy Mac Word Processor Documents (http://www.libreoffice.org/download/4-1-new-features-and-fixes/) and Support for legacy Mac word-processing documents (https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/4.1). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 68904] FILTER: The new Import filters for AppleWorks/ClarisWorks don't work for spreadsheets
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68904 --- Comment #4 from chd...@gmail.com --- Sorry, my mistake. I was running down the links provided to blogs describing the new features, and I could swear I read one that said the AppleWorks filters could handle basic Drawing docs too. So I guessed that the filters were capable of more than just Word Processing. But alas, I must've confused the AppleWorks filter with something else. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 68904] FILTER: The new Import filters for AppleWorks/ClarisWorks don't work for spreadsheets
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68904 --- Comment #5 from osnola alo...@loria.fr --- Hello chdiza, I have never seen libmwaw with or without LibreOffice adverted as a converter of spreadsheet or database CWK. Indeed, as David says the new filter ( see http://sourceforge.net/p/libmwaw/wiki/Home/ ) which was added in LibreOffice is mainly limited to convert word processing files and LibreOffice included only 18/24 of these filters ; ie. the list of available was fixed when libmwaw was introduced in LibreOffice and since this date, the list of filters has grown a little :-) As a slight note: Yes, I have indeed done a little exception so that libmwaw accepts to try to convert a paint and drawing AppleWorks/ClarisWorks file: mainly because their formats are quite similar to a word processing file and there are very few available convertors ; sometimes the result can be usable ( but most of the time not :-~ ). But up to my acknowledge, this has not been publicly adverted and when I mention it in a post like in this one, I always add a sentence to say that the result are not yet very good... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
