If it is of any consolation, doing the corresponding thing on Linux causes
LibreOffice to crash;)

I don't understand how this hasn't been a much more common problem? Surely it
can't be that uncommon for users to select a whole column, and then quit,
causing LibreOffice to try to store all of the column in the system clipboard?

The assertion failure is not related to this bug but caused by a very recently
added assertion that I think can actually be removed.

I don't understand why the initial description of this bug makes it sound so
complicated and special case. Comment #13 is much better. But even the "save"
step is unnecessary; just quit and choose "Don't" save changes is enough to see
the slowness.

Presumably the slowness is caused when some of the formats that the copied
column is exported in to the system clipboard insist on exporting all one
million rows of the column, even if just two cells actually exist. Here is some
timings. The "== flavour" rows are printed before the column is exported into
that format.

Hi Alex, I just tried this in LO 5.4.0.3 on Windows 7, no slow shutdown
occurring for me.

I can try on OS X when I get home, is this the only OS you have tested on?

Version I opened the ODS on:

The app eventually closes, but for a 3 x 8 cell array in the CSV, the shutdown
time is ludicrously long. In the meantime, the app appears to have hung, the
spinning beachball just keeps on turning, and the app is unresponsive.

** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present on a currently supported version of
LibreOffice (5.0.5 or 5.1.2 https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the version of
LibreOffice and your operating system, and any changes you see in the bug
behavior

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a short comment that includes your version of
LibreOffice and Operating System

Please DO NOT

- Update the version field
- Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
- Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:

1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3)

http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug

3. Leave a comment with your results.

4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to "inherited from OOo";
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add "regression" to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=libreoffice-qa

Thank you for your help!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 69460] Copy/Paste of a column in Calc file followed by Cmd-Q causes soffice process to consume all resources

2015-04-01 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69460

Tested on

Version: 4.5.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: 09f83e1f409853a6c6e4300287c4e50bad5b9d0b
Locale: fr_

It now quits, but in two clearly defined stages :
- document windo destroyed ;

beachball spinning 10-15 seconds

- then main app window closure

lldb shows this from the save point of the document :

so it is still not shutting down properly by the looks of it.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 69460] Copy/Paste of a column in Calc file followed by Cmd-Q causes soffice process to consume all resources

2015-04-01 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69460

** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

*Test to see if the bug is still present on a currently supported version of
LibreOffice (4.4.1 or later)
   https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

*If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the version of
LibreOffice and your operating system, and any changes you see in the bug
behavior

*If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a short comment that includes your version of
LibreOffice and Operating System

Please DO NOT

   *Update the version field
*Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
*Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a
particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:

1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3)

http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to "inherited from OOo";
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add "regression" to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=libreoffice-qa

Thank you for your help!

I have only tested this back to LO 3.3.4, so can't say at the moment whether it
does go back to OOo times

Upping priority as the only way to escape this is to force kill the

2013-09-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69460

How to reproduce :

1) Open attached ODS test file
2) Select a whole column by clicking on column header
3) Copy/paste any column to another empty column
4) Save
5) Quit the application (Cmd-Q or LibreOffice > Quit)

Watch how the soffice process remains running, maintaining 5 or 6 threads,
consuming processor availability til it hits 100%, at which point the OSX
process monitor kicks in and states that the application is no longer
responding. The processor occupancy drops, but memory continues to be allocated
to the soffice process.
