The issue may have improved slightly but I can't be sure. I get the feeling that this issue has to do with the way Libreoffice is interacting with libglamor (2D acceleration) on Linux for the newer Radeon cards. Also it should be noted that libglamor is not as performant yet and the problem I describe could be just Libreoffice hitting a part of the driver that is not yet well optimised.
