[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 76681] [Mac] Use better, native UI-following toolbar icons for the default theme
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76681 Adolfo Jayme (UX) f...@libreoffice.org changed: What|Removed |Added Status|NEW |RESOLVED Resolution|--- |WORKSFORME Summary|[Mac] Use better native UI |[Mac] Use better, native |following toolbar icons for |UI-following toolbar icons |the default theme |for the default theme --- Comment #5 from Adolfo Jayme (UX) f...@libreoffice.org --- We’ve switched to Sifr by default in OS X. I’d say that fixes this bug’s summary: “Use better, native UI-following toolbar icons for the default theme”. This, I’m closing this report. And believe me, Sierk: it’s not like we aren’t doing an effort to please people like you. But we need more volunteers doing cool shit instead of more complainers. (In reply to foss from comment #4) But it's not a matter of will. It's a matter of actual humans contributing to such a huge project. Currently there's not a single one. if you can manage to gather a team and start working on this, I'm sure you'll get some support from QA / devs. No one will object implementing a great OS X icon theme. But who's going to design all those icons? +1000. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76681 --- Comment #6 from foss f...@openmailbox.org --- Adolfo, thanks for updating this. I still believe the sifr OS X default Switch was the right choice. Once breeze becomes more mature it will make an even better default. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76681 --- Comment #4 from foss f...@openmailbox.org --- But it's not a matter of will. It's a matter of actual humans contributing to such a huge project. Currently there's not a single one. if you can manage to gather a team and start working on this, I'm sure you'll get some support from QA / devs. No one will object implementing a great OS X icon theme. But who's going to design all those icons? What do you think of Sifr? Imo the most OSX like icon theme, especially now that osx 10.10 has gotten even more flat. So maybe you could post a request to make Sifr the OSX default. I'd love to see that happening. But without having a design willing to work on 100 or more new icons or contributing them yourself, nothing will come from this. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76681 Alex Thurgood ipla...@yahoo.co.uk changed: What|Removed |Added Status|UNCONFIRMED |NEW Ever confirmed|0 |1 --- Comment #3 from Alex Thurgood ipla...@yahoo.co.uk --- Agreed, but there's nothing from stopping you or anyone else for that matter from providing an appropriate icon set. I would agree that the current icon sets for LO all suck on OSX, and don't get me started on sifr - find some OSX devs to do the work and release it under the LO dual licensing scheme. Personally, to me, this is a valid request for enhancement. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 76681] [Mac] Use better native UI following toolbar icons for the default theme
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76681 --- Comment #2 from Sierk Bornemann sie...@gmx.de --- (In reply to comment #1) Why are other cross-platform open source projects able to provide better looking and more platform-fitting icons per platform? For instance, Mozilla Firefox. For instance, compare the platform-fitting look (and color) of the folder icons to the folder icons, LibreOffice provides. The Mozilla UX team cares about such things *very* lovely and thoughtful. And *not* like a steam roller à la one fits all, one Tango Theme and take that, unchanged for any OS/platform. It is *possible* to care much better on OS/platform specifics while being cross-platform. It's a matter of *will*. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76681 --- Comment #1 from Adolfo Jayme f...@libreoffice.org --- Unless Apple releases its icon theme under a free software license, it cannot be integrated as a LibreOffice icon theme as it is. OTOH, default Tango icons are being improved, with some changes already appearing in 4.3 (master/alpha). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
