[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 77148] German dictionary accepts "Substativ"

Stefan Knorr (astron) changed:

   What|Removed |Added

   Severity|normal |trivial
Summary|German dictionary accepts |German dictionary accepts
   |"Substativ |"Substativ"
Version|4.2.0.4 release |4.2.2.1 release

--- Comment #1 from Stefan Knorr (astron) ---
The word "Substativ" does not seem to exist:
  http://www.duden.de/suchen/dudenonline/substativ

Only the word "Substantiv" is correct. Yet, it seems the de-DE dictionary
(normal, not frami, afaik) accepts both.

["not frami" only means that I have not checked the de-DE-frami dictionary.]

Also note, I am possibly not using the upstream version of the dictionary, as I
am using the OpenSUSE 13.1 version of LibreOffice (from the LibreOffice:Factory
repo in the build service).

This word is regularly formed and means 'a submissive tripod'.

Urmas: In what language? What is a "submissive tripod" supposed to be? Are you
just trolling me? (If yes: Great, it did work.)

FWIW, Google already shows this bug report on several of its top-10 results for
"substativ" for me.

--- Comment #6 from Stefan Knorr (astron) ---
Right, sorry for comment 4.

Still, comment 5 is only good as a technical explanation for why this behaviour
occurs. However, weighing the chances of people misspelling the word "noun"
versus people actually wanting to write "sub-tripod", a ratio of 100,000:1
seems conservative, even.
The spell checker is supposed to be helpful, not to include every word that
could conceivable be created.

=> Reopening.

If that is a problem for you, either create an exclusion dictionary which
contains that word, or obtain another German spellchecking engine.

Right now, it works as it should.
