Looks like there hasn't been any activity on this bug for over a year. Are you
still able to reproduce the problem with a modern build?

I would propose to reduce picture sizes before inserting them to the Impress
using some bulk resize tool. Usually projector has resolution 1024x768 and
there is no point to have larger pictures for screen view. Also using ~85% of
JPG quality would be enough for screen view. Would suggest to use JPG as photo
file format and nothing else.
Using "Tools->Minimize presentation" would also help reduce the presentation
size.
If still there are problems (e.g. too much pictures to load them all
simultaneously as the presentation software does) then I would propose not to
use presentation software but just show pictures as separate files with some
picture viewing software. Did use that solution several times. When using just
picture viewer then one picture will be loaded at a time and there will be no
problem with memory.

It sounds like there are/may be multiple different issues affecting the results
here.

This piece seems actionable, however it sounds like something different from
the Summary. Assuming y'all agree to my assessment, Leif: Could you please file
that as a separate bug report? (and then Beluga can hopefully repro and
triage)

>
> I confirm that no picture loss happens when saving the ppt as odp in LibO.

Okay. Sounds like we're still trying to figure out the main gist of this bug
report: Pictures going missing from the ODP file.

dias black text was converted to white text

The problem I see in Libo with slide 34 of the .ppt is that it has white text
on white background. In MSO, the bullet text and "Tak for i dag" are black.

I confirm that no picture loss happens when saving the ppt as odp in LibO.

What file format were you using for saving?

Were you embedding the files or just linking to them?

Ah, interesting!

> > Is there a limit on size of the jpg pictures?
> >

AFAIK, there's no limit on the size of ODF files or included files that would
be close to the size of a few scanned images. Just for reference, how many MB
of media do you think you added to the document? (rough estimate is fine)

How big is your graphics cache?
(Tools -> Options -> LibreOffice -> Memory)

If you're working with many large images, bumping up the cache can help speed
up LibreOffice for you
