I don't mean directly competing against Microsoft Office but I'm saying that it may lessen potential users coming from other office programs because they may use the others just because it's simpler. Again, apologies if this is basically the same thing, please ignore this part if it is. Also, I'm not sure if others think this too but I'm making a guess that may be why others like modern UIs so much. Those are very different monsters ;-) Without clear-cut definitions of what makes you feel our UI is “intimidating”, this bug report is not manageable (too broad in scope… whatever that is).
