I'd like to have the source of the content you are trying to paste. If it
cannot be disclosed due to privacy issues, please create a similar document so
that I can test your bug.

I can perfectly copy and paste from both contexts from 4.2.8.2 and a
5.1.0.0.alpha1+ build.

H, if it's really (and intentionally implemented) like that (i.e. not to
paste from external sources), I'd argue that it's at least confusing for the
user, thus imho debatable UI design.

So, yes, maybe it's not a bug per se, but imho not straight forward neither.
I was unsure about it too, hence my choice of wording as unexpected/faulty.
I'd say that at least unexpected applies.

So ... how about turning it into a feature request, maybe ?

It didn't work in 4.3.7 neither, but I have no clue if this has ever worked in
versions of LibreOffice prior to that one. I've been using OpenOffice on
Windows before. Just recently switched to a Mac, and decided to go with LibO
instead of OO. 4.3.7 was the first version of LibO I've been using. Just
updated to 4.4.4.3 today. Since the bug is still there, I thought that somebody
perhaps should report it ;)

With Win7x64 versions 3.6.7.2; 4.0.6.2; 4.1.6 and 4.2.8 it doesn't work, so
seems it never works in that way.

I think contextual Paste only is only for paste copying from cells not from
external sources.

For me not a bug.

Probably.
The Paste Special has always been the way to go though, as far as I can
remember. Did this work for you in previous versions of LibreOffice ?
