Also got the 'General input/output error'. Then tried v4.2.8.2 under mint 17.2 x64. This one gives the 'text import' window. After selecting, it opens the file as a text file. So the bug must be between these version. Dunno why v4.4.2.2 opens the file correctly. Maybe it was fixed and then broken again ?!
