[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 129897] New: Menus positioned incorrectly on joined multi-monitor displays of different dimensions

2020-01-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129897

Bug ID: 129897
Summary: Menus positioned incorrectly on joined multi-monitor
displays of different dimensions
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.4.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: m...@maxbarry.com

Created attachment 157026
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=157026&action=edit
Screenshot showing menu appearing distant from mouse

When using a virtual desktop of joined displays, LibreOffice incorrectly
prevents drop-down menus from appearing in certain areas of the screen.

In particular, LibreOffice seems to use the smallest monitor to determine valid
co-ordinates for menus, and constrains them to that area unnecessarily.

Example (see attached pic):

1. Create a virtual desktop with two monitors, where the smaller monitor is
above the larger primary one, and they are right-aligned.

2. In LibreOffice Writer or Calc, click the "File" menu, which is near the
top-left of the monitor.

3. Observe that the drop-down menu appears far over to the right, a long way
from the mouse.

This makes it challenging to use the drop-down menus, as you must move the
mouse quite a long way without accidentally passing over anything else that
triggers a different drop-down menu.

all pages of PDF inserted to Writer pages

LibreOffice is not a PDF editor, and PDF is not an editable format. The filter
based import of PDF (by default to the Draw module) will convert to some
semblance of the original layout, but does not render using embedded font
subset. The replacement font can be pretty far off.

Otherwise, the PDF pages inserted to document canvas are fully rendered.

In the attached, each page of the PDF was extracted, and then inserted as an
image to a Writer document.

It can't be edited, but then again--LibreOffice is not a PDF editor!

The import 'opening' of a PDF into Writer or Draw will receive a font fallback.
The embedded subset font may but likely will not be present on system--and if
not, the imported opening of the PDF will have poor fidelity to the original

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 129898] New: Drawings during presentations wouldn't be shown when setting "mouse pointer as pen" in the slide show settings

2020-01-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129898

Bug ID: 129898
Summary: Drawings during presentations wouldn't be shown when
setting "mouse pointer as pen" in the slide show
settings
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.2.0.0.alpha1+
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: frank...@goodhorse.idv.tw

Created attachment 157030
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=157030&action=edit
drawings only shown in the left pane preview in version 6.2.0.0.alpha1

1. Enter presentation mode, right-click and select "mouse pointer as pen" in
the context menu and we can draw on the slide, but the drawings wouldn't be
saved after leaving the presentation mode. That's okay.

2. Before entering presentation mode, go to "slide show settings" and check
"mouse pointer as pen". Then enter presentation mode. The default mouse
pointer would be a pen and we can draw on the slide without checking in the
context menu. And the drawings would be saved after leaving the presentation
mode.

3. However, after 6.2.0.0.alpha version, the drawings of the second condition
would only be shown in the left pane preview, not in the slides, and hence have
no way to delete that. It works in the version 6.1.5.2 but not in
6.2.0.0.alpha1.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 104174] Loss of formatting on Pivot Tables after refreshing data

tested in 6.2.5.2
create spreadsheet with a date column
create pivot table with date in left column... displays as 2 char year
format the date column in pivot to 4 char year
refresh pivot data - date display is reset to 2 char year.

I note this comment from earlier:
"Setting as:
Minor: I understand this is a real PITA (it affects me too) but it doesn't
*prevent* high quality work, just slows it down in an annoying way
Low: Default for minor bugs"

May seem minor to some but it is a major issue to this user (pivot table user
since excel 95). Similar formatting issues arise when pulling data from
postgres. ... refresh data from postgres, remember to change the data format
for $ columns, refresh the pivot table(s), reapply all the formatting that was
lost in the refresh... then make one small change in underlying financial data
and then repeat all these steps again..

I appreciate all the efforts of the Libreoffice devs but I really hope some one
who is capable of fixing this feels it needs fixing.

thanks..

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 129900] New: Exiting Writer's Print Preview mode is slow in long documents

2020-01-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129900

Bug ID: 129900
Summary: Exiting Writer's Print Preview mode is slow in long
documents
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.4.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: m...@maxbarry.com

Compared to LibreOffice 5, exiting Print Preview in long documents is extremely
slow.

With a 1,500 page document, for example, exiting Print Preview is instant in
LO5, but takes 5-6 seconds (!) in LO6.

To reproduce:

1. In LibreOffice 6 Writer, fill a document with text so that it comprises at
least a few hundred pages.

2. Enter Print Preview (e.g. File -> Print Preview).

3. Observe it takes a second or two (based on document length) to display the
Print Preview screen. This is similar to LibreOffice 5.

4. Press Escape to exit Print Preview mode.

5. Observe a significant delay (approx. 5-6 seconds for a 1,500 page document)
with CPU usage spiking before returning to normal view. There is no such delay
in LibreOffice 5.3.0.3 Writer.

I tend to flip back and forth between Normal View and Print Preview when
editing a document, and this new delay makes this very awkward.

Ubuntu 19.10

I don't think it's a bug. "#" has a special meaning in URLs, separating
fragment [1]; so a relative url like "./Test#File.doc" means "open "Test" in
current document's location, and navigate to "File.doc" fragment inside it". I
suppose it's not what you want.

The correct way to do this is

  =HYPERLINK("./" & ENCODEURL("Test#File.doc"))

and I see that the formula from comment 0 in fact opens file with name
"Test#File.doc" in current directory; while as I wrote in comment 1, it should
open file "Test". Is that your problem? You didn't specify what "the file does
exist" means - specifically, what is the name of "the file". Please clarify.

Some questions:

1) Do you get the problem when taking exactly the steps I took in the video?
Any other ideas what else I might be missing?
2) Does it work for you with other KDE applications, e.g. kate?
3) Can you try whether using a current daily build from TDF makes any
difference? Those are available at [1] and can be installed in parallel as
described at [2].

2020-01-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon

I would agree to a change where:

1. The list would include some "international" presets - e.g., current Latin,
Greek letters; arabic and roman numerals; variants dependent on current locale
and UI language; and then an option to open some dialog with extensive means to
select/define from whatever is potentially usable as numbering.

Currently I don't see a problem here, given the list continues below, with
"presets from china, india, ..." available there.
