No.

We have observed that some people can´t use a odb-file without
registration in LO (LO 3.5.5 and LO 3.6.1; OS: Windows).

That would be a bug; please file it, with exact symptoms, reproduction
instructions, etc. Add me as CC to the bug (don't assign it to me). If
it happens only on Windows, I probably won't be able to do much, but
maybe someone else can have a go at it.

 Further questions are:
 What opportunities are there, anyway?

How is the target direction, i.e. what is the normal procedure?

To open an ODB? Menu File / Open, select the file, click OK or
Open.

Yes we ship with bugs, and yes we get flamed for it - perhaps that

I'd just like to say that as an ordinary user I'm most impressed by the speed
with which this has been investigated fixed. Thanks to all involved. I look
forward to getting 3.6.2 in October.

This is as good a demonstration of the justification for my (and hopefully many
others) recent move away from Windows and MS Office as I could wish for.

Hi Jochen,

On the German discuss-ML we are currently discussing following questions:

in LibreOffice? We have observed that some people can´t use a odb-file
without registration in LO (LO 3.5.5 and LO 3.6.1; OS: Windows).

I encountered the problem to which you are referring on Linux 64bit with
Robert's file. However, I had no such problem on Mac OSX. This was why I
registered the ODB file with LO on Linux before attempting to open it
again. This may have been particular to my setup, or the file in question.

Note that on Mac OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Apple's file manager defaults
freshly downloaded files passed directly to an app as read-only, under
some kind of lame security policy, which forces the user to re-set the
write bit by hand or else move the file elsewhere (which seems to
automatically reset the read/write bits). However, this doesn't seem to
happen on OSX 10.8, and I can't compare with 10.7 because I didn't keep
it on my machine for very long.

Re: [Libreoffice-qa] Regression test (Moztrap) test case localization temporary solution.

2012-08-23 Thread Petr Mladek
Yi Fan Jiang píše v St 22. 08. 2012 v 21:08 -0600:
we will need to have a temporary workaround to *adapt* translation
version of test cases existed in Moztrap.

Based on the capacity of current Moztrap, we currently have 3
prototypes of how they can be presented. I populated all these into
 three actual test cases:

 http://vm12.documentfoundation.org/runtests/run/29/env/633/

I prefer the first version. It best follows the current Moztrap design.
The step and expected result are close to each other and better
visualized. Also it should be easier to convert this to the real
localized framework once we have it.

The second solution is more compact but the step and the result is
connected by the strange vpX identifiers. In addition, it would be
more complicated to keep all localizations in sync.

The third variant looks to confusing to me :-)

BTW: I would use STEP instead if STEPS in the first variant. The
meaning is:

   1st step
  expected result
   2nd step
  expected result
   3rd step
  expected result
   ...

Thanks a lot for working on this.

Best Regards,
Petr

Nope.

Have you got an idea how to fix the reporter's problems? IMHO he deserves a
good and very polite answer, but the most important thing is probably
the question how to help him.

Cause its so odd, maybe asking for a screencast of the problem might
help, e.g. Istanbul or recordMyDesktop or some such.

Even if we ignore all of the reporter's (IMHO completely understandable)
 anger,
 this bug report is disquieting.

At least it could deserve some sorting out what could be caused by bugs
(real/UX) and what are mere features ,-)

My question to all: has anybody ever seen such things in Writer?

A little bit, yes. Especially when I'm tired and start to do something I never
did before. Some automatisms drove me crazy. But fortunately I've learned pretty
well to google for switching them off :-)

 Have you got an
idea how to fix the reporter's problems? IMHO he deserves a good and very
 polite
answer, but the most important thing is probably the question how to help him.

It's in the first place a bug tracker, so helping him would be my second
thought. My first thought would be to get him to give us more information.

Therefore, my suggested answer is about:

It would be extremely informative and valueable to have you here and look at
what you are exactly doing.

Software sometimes thinks too much and default behavior can be
counter-intuitive and irritating.

On the other hand, there is rather active development at present and thus bugs
and regressions could have been introduced.

Therefore it would be very nice if you could give a step by step explanation
what you exactly intended to do, what you did, and what the
(intended/unintended) outcome was of every step. So we can address them one by
one. Thank you.

Nino
