[Libreoffice-qa] Refer to teams or roles rather than individual people?
Hi guys, I've been doing some cleanup on the wiki in preparation for the Bugzilla Migration, and I've run across a number of wiki pages that explicitly refer to individuals as part of the steps to perform a task. For example, this wiki page includes a custom file-a-bug link to Bugzilla that includes assigning the bug to a particular person: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/LibreOffice_Localization_Guide/How_To_Submit_New_Locale_Data As we all know, the particular people in a project may change over time. People move jobs, people's interests change, and sometimes we even lose contributors. I think that instead of embedding individual names and email addresses into our wiki pages and processes, we should try to refer to roles and teams. I know that we have to be careful here lest we use terms like "leader," but abstract references serve at least two big benefits: 1) When someone changes roles, the references still point to the right (new) person 2) Titles are easier to remember than names For example, in this case of submitting locale data files, the assigned-to email could be something like "localization-wrang...@libreoffice.org." If people want to alert QA to something, we could use emails like "qa@" and "bsa@" for the appropriate set of people. Obviously, some pages serve as a reference point for names -- like the Developers page, the QA/Team page, or even the ownCloud page that lists the current Admins. But those names aren't listed in processes. Those wiki pages are used as a reference point so that elsewhere one can say "ask the [[QA/Team]] for help" or "[[FindTheExpert]] for the correct area and ask for help". Essentially, I think we should abstract-out names and emails, and refer to individual/team roles. Thoughts? If people think this might be a good idea, I'll bring up the idea with some other teams. Yi Fan prepared the tests to contain translations (what you've worked on and you both have done a great work here) but I was not happy with the display of the tests. I think that if we want to attract more people, the tests should be easy to read and execute and the translations in them cluttered them, you have to scroll down the page to see the translation in your language and all the steps were in the same frame. So for the moment, that's not ideal because only English readers will be able to run them, we will miss a large part of testers and quality checks for localization, but at least, the environment is adapted. I hope that we will find a developer able to code a way to handle localized test cases. I've also another solution in mind that I need to test to see if it works: that would be to create a Run by language (e.g LibreOffice 4.2.0 RC1 DE), but I need to see how we can manage and update translations and make sure they reflect the EN master. How do you work on the tests offline? Have you installed
Django/MozTrap on your machine? Or have you downloaded all the test
cases and use translate-toolkit to work on it?

not for beta2 because localization won't be ready for it, so we will
only test in English, but I'll remove the FR doc so there is no confusion.

Some languages have grammar checker, but I'll clarify that for beta2, we
will only test the en_US version. I'll check for the other languages
when localization will be ready to be tested, may be RC1 or RC2.

Here also I'll remove language information because they are not
relevant, thanks for pointing it. I will need to investigate what is
really used by the native-language communities for spell checker and
grammar checker because I think they use different sources, not often
build-in.

I'll have a look, I've corrected/updated all the tests offline, it seems
I missed to copy and past some of them, sorry. And I still struggle with
some Moztrap features, but I learn each day...
