 - Reporters (end users) will most likely ignore an attempt at using a
   standardized vocabulary
 - Triagers will most likely have a good grip on all the words used for one
topic and might even derive additional information from the nuances (as
   Terrence shows here ;) )
 - Ultimately: Who should be the consumer of these queries/standardisation? How
does it help devs to address the impportant and urgent bugs quicker?

One possible method for increasing use of standardized language would
be to ask users to tag bugs, e.g. table, inserted graphic,
footer, paragraph style. We could then search for and consolidate
tags such as image and graphic as a part of the de-duplication
process.

Joel has also proposed the use of a set of questions during bug
submission. These questions could be used to insert some standardized
information into the bug report.

I think this solution is better - asking users to do one more thing is
just asking for more confusion/irritation at our bug submission process.
If we automate the process through 10 or less questions which results in
tags + prelim prioritization users won't have a reason to complain.

The subject of thread caught my eye. I am working on testing preservation
of .docx file format after file is saved in LibreOffice. You have written,

I am just curious what kind of test files are you employing to test? If it
is restricted to Microsoft's website then would they have coverage across
features combinations?

Also whether you care about preservation of docx file when saved in

to exchange notes.

[Libreoffice-qa] Preparing MozTrap tests for 4.3.x

2014-04-22 Thread Sophie
Hi all,

I'll upload the tests for the 4.3.x branch soon in MozTrap and will set
runs for the version if some of you want to play with it.

Do you have any special requests regarding the tests on this version, a
feature that needs more review, or regressions that need specific tests?

Thanks

2014-04-22 Thread Jay Philips

Hi Roopesh,

Well as i dont have .docx files of my own, i thought the best place to
get .docx files was from microsoft's website, as they wouldnt be using
any other word processor to create them. :) I may venture beyond their
website if i can find a good source of .docxs created in word. Is there
any means of knowing what was the software used to create the .docx?

Yes i testing what comes from various word processors into LibreOffice
writer and out. If you see my last message in the mailing list, i
explain my basic routine.

Your mail is way to cryptic to answer. We don't share your mind, so we
don't have the context you're talking about.

Yes, same as above.

Sorry for being unclear (again).. Hope it's clearer now

Nope. Where's the bug? What non-expected behavior do you see that
makes you think there is a bug, what would you expect to get instead?

Hello Florian, *,

I encountered many bugs with [NONE] as only property
Example: Page styles, Border line types [Both Writer]

I can confirm it here ... :(

Has anyone of you seen this (other OS?)

Yes, with LO Version: 4.3.0.0.alpha1 Build ID:
46cfcd5a05aa1d13fecd73f5a25b64b8d8dd6781 (parallel installed,
following the instructions from
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Installing_in_parallel) with
Germanophone lang- as well as helppack under Debian Testing i686 ...
:(

For me that would be a blocker.
[Instead of solid, dashed etc. only NONE]

And it is a regression, as older versions (LO Version: 4.1.5.3
Build-ID: 1c1366bba2ba2b554cd2ca4d87c06da81c05d24, LO Version:
4.2.3.3 Build-ID: 882f8a0a489bc99a9e60c7905a60226254cb6ff0 and LO
Version: 4.2.4.1 Build ID: d4c441391e20647b3d2e8dde4d20aa868e77e515,
all on the same system, and with Germanophone lang- as well as
helppack) has a dotted, dashed etc. line style there ... :(

@cloph: Do the following:
1. Start Writer
2. Go to Format - Page...
3. Look at dropdown menu below Style

In former versions, you will see – hm ... is drawn through the
right term here? – line there. If you click on the arrows right to
it, you will see the other possible line styles here. In
4.3.0.0alpha1, you will only see an empty dropdown menu entry and if
you click on the arrows, you will see - none - instead of the
different styles ... :(
HTH
Thomas.

Hi Tom,

FYI: It's solid, dashed, dotted line (I always have a English UI in front of
me, when writing bug reports...) Do we have a bisect package for 4.3..? If not
I will try with older versions of master, if I find one...

Thanks for clarifying the line names and have a nice evening

[Libreoffice-qa] SimpleProgramDebugger for LibO QA

2014-04-22 Thread Tommy
I stumbled upon this freeware application and I wonder if it may help
doing backtraces or profiling under Window.

http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/simple_program_debugger.html

unfortunately I have no experience to judge if the output of this software
may be useful or not for QA and developers.

so give it a try

Not yet. I plan to build one mid-May.

[Libreoffice-qa] [ANNOUNCE] Tag libreoffice-4.1.6.2 (on branch libreoffice-4-1-6) created

2014-04-22 Thread Christian Lohmaier
Hi all,

The tag libreoffice-4.1.6.2 (AKA 4.1.6 RC2) has been created on the
libreoffice-4-1-6 branch.
The branch will be used for fine tuning of the 4.1.6 release. (It is
the last scheduled RC)

The following rules apply to the branch:

+ preferably just translation or blocker fixes
+ only cherry-picking from libreoffice-4-1 branch
+ 2 additional reviews needed; 2nd reviewer pushes
+ no regular merges back to anything

As 4.1.6 is the last scheduled release of the 4.1 line, the
'libreoffice-4-1' branch is no longer considered active.

Please read more at
   http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan/4.1#4.1.6_release
   http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/Branches
   http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Release_Criteria

To checkout the tag, use

./g fetch --tags
./g checkout -b tag-libreoffice-4.1.6.2 libreoffice-4.1.6.2

Linux distro packages might find source tarballs at
http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/src/
They will soon be available from the official page together with the builds.

Attached is the list of changes against 4.1.6 RC1
