Re: [Libreoffice-qa] [Moztrap] Question for Test Case #305
Hi Thomas, I see, it is better to have people reviewing the cases. Before that, I think the way we are working on is also good to optimize test case: Some one write cases - people find it unclear or buggy - update test case to be more understandable BTW, I didn't comment on more details in caseversion#305 because I saw the problematic wording in the steps description as well. Do you mind if I try to update the case next week, though I am not a native speaker either :) Best wishes, Yifan Thomas Hackert thack...@nexgo.de 04/14/13 3:04 PM Would you please help to update the English version as well? Thanks! Well, I have done it in the past, when I was sure, that something was wrong ... ;) But ... As I am not a native speaker of the English language (and my last English lesson was years ago, so I forgot too many things ... :( ), I would prefer someone more knowledgeable than me to have a look at the test cases (but the Wiki pages about QA/testing as well ... ;) ) ... ;) Have a nice day Thomas. Hi Thomas, Your revising is obviously better, thanks for the detailed review, which is what I always wanted to do :) The current test cases descriptions are far less than perfect, so fixing these wording problems at any time are pretty valuable and appreciated. [Libreoffice-qa] Moztrap OpenID support - go for testing!
Hey people, I have brought OpenID to Moztrap this week, the following is the test page for login: http://vm12.documentfoundation.org/openid/login/ Login example: Google user: https://www.google.com/accounts/o8/id Yahoo user: https://me.yahoo.com Wordpress user: $your_username.wordpress.com More about openid can be found here: http://openid.net/get-an-openid/ As a rookie OpenID user, I tested it by myself for 3-4 hours (wasted much time by the depressing net speed). I will update the main login page to add openid support next weekend if no critical issue found. Functions currently supported (testing required) * Based on EMAIL address, native login/Mozilla Persona/OpenID are all mapped to the same user in Moztrap now, so they should be seamlessly worked together. Those details as follows. - If you have a native registered moztrap user or ever used Mozilla Persona to login, and your openid provides an exact same EMAIL of such an account, the original user and openid user will be treated exactly identical. Actually you should feel nothing changed except inputting password is no longer needed :) * If you never register or login with Persona, you may simply directly use OpenID to login. - The new user should be assigned to a tester by default, so you should be able to run tests without any specail permission. As I known, you have the chance to keep everything private when providing OpenID, but at least a readable user name is preferred to provide in case people want to find you. Providing an email is highly appreciated as well. In the case when you don't provide a name, an ugly user name like openiduser1 openiduser2 will be spontaneously assigned for your account :) * You should not meet any CSRF failure issues (I was concerning the openid module will happened to such an issue again). Hi, Sigh, this doesn't yet make things clear, let me clarify it. Actually the native registraion user and Persona are exactly the same thing inside Moztrap. So when a Moztrap user either already has natviely registrated or has Mozilla Persona logged in. The OpenID using the same email will not be able to login at the moment because of the temporary security patch :( Moreover the native user registration/login and Mozilla Persona login should not be affected. Best wishes Yifan Yi Fan Jiang 10/11/12 10:50 PM Hi Pedro, Thanks for trying :) The native registration user compatibilty was available just for a short while until Rimas reported the severe security issue as being discussed. Hi Bjoern, all, Thanks for coordinating everything, most of time I usually couldn't make a Internet call at evening either because of my crazy ISP or because lack of time :( Here is some update: structured manual testing (Yifan/Petr): - login issue progress? CSRF issue resolved, it should be no annoying login error from now on. - other news? 1. Mozilla Persona login is supported now together with native login. https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Moztrap/Moztrap_User_Guide#Registration_and_Login 2. [Libreoffice-qa] Moztrp enables Mozzila persona login.
Dear fellows, I spent some time to investigate Mozilla Persona today. (related topic - https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47658) The original Moztrap supports either native login or the Persona login, but only one method a time. With happiness I found possible to make them co-existent by some safe hacking. The login now looks like: http://vm12.documentfoundation.org/users/login/ For new users: You may either: - click the 'register' link to make an old style registration - or simply use Mozilla Persona to login without the above registration For registered users: You may either: - keep the old way to login with password - or login via Mozilla Persona providing the same email as in the old profile, so that your original permission of Moztrap still will be there. Otherwise, with other email addresses, you will be treated as a new user. It should be working out of box nicely, but would you please help to test and report problems if any. :) Thanks! Re: [Libreoffice-qa] Test file for Conditional Formatting.
Hi Miguel, Thanks a lot for your nice work. I have got a review and push it to: http://vm12.documentfoundation.org/manage/case/122/ Please take a review and make sure I didn't misunderstand anything. Actually it took me some time to play and understand :) As you may notice the instructions and expected results have been modified in Moztrap. The basic thing I did is to extract those *background* and *reasoning* sentences, which are actually *great* for people who wants to thoroughly understand it, out of the instructions. The reason is we are better off trying to instruct people, even those without conditional formatting knowledge, to run the test case STEP by STEP. So more intuitive and relatively direct test case could be more effective for QA to run. The way I prefer is to instruct people 'click' things, then observe the correct behavior as high level as possible, which in this case changing cell background color is pretty specific. And that's all. Only when a people found something wrong or curious enough, she is free to find the logic behind from your lovely detailed descriptions. :) Please tell me how do you think about them. Thanks for your great work! The case is really wonderful! I have try to register in Moztrap, but by now I have not received the confirmation email. Sigh, it looks the postfix failed to verify a self signed certificate there...I'll take a look and don't bother with the mail, I've activate your account and you are free to edit cases yourself :) And as the Moztrap is in first steps, maybe better not too much hands on it. So please put the test in Moztrap if it is right. As it is in the first step, there may be some improvements needed. But it is nevertheless a nice central place we put our test cases effort together, the data would not lose any way. And again because it is in the first step, wonderful new test cases like you already did makes it grown:) Is there some guide on how to structure the name of the test files? I think could be useful in the future. Currently I wasn't aware any particular reason to restrict the name space of a attached file since every case is bound to a test case in Moztrap, so we never lose the background. Maybe in the future I should make Moztrap to attach a case id to the attachments like Bugzilla did. @Petr, all - do you have any experience thoughts on that? Best wishes, Yifan mariosv mari...@miguelangel.mobi 09/12/12 9:05 AM Hi Yifan, I have revised the test, among other issues I have added an Instructions sheet. Re: [Libreoffice-qa] Test file for Conditional Formatting.
Hi Miguel, It looks great! I think it is valuable to take the test case to our regression test base Moztrap, so we will at least have the conditional format checked in each major release testing. https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Moztrap To help other people how to test the document, do you have some testing steps describing exactly what to do step by step (instructions), and what are the expected result of each step (verify points)? Here is a sample how would a test case in Moztrap looks like: -- Test that conditional format [Optional] put some detailed description here. When in English = * instruction 1 (vp.1) * instruction 2 * instruction 3 (vp.2) Then in English = 1. verify point 1 2. verify point 2 -- Please notice with one test sample, you could write down different test cases for different testing purpose. For example, one test case for basic function of Conditional formatting, another test case specifically designed for backward compatibility testing... To populate the test case, you could simply send a mail here (I would help to add them to Moztrap) or register to Moztrap to do it yourself (with permission assigned). Please do not hesitate to let me know if you have problems to do it :) Best wishes, Yifan mariosv mari...@miguelangel.mobi 09/11/12 6:00 AM Hi, relating with the new design of conditional formatting, in my opinion it is necessary to check the proper functioning of it, especially to avoid compatibility problems with versions of LibreOffice not including the new design (up to 3.5) After a short exchange of views with Marcus, I have made a first test file, made in 3.5.5.3, contains the different types of conditional formatting in classic design, to check if opened successfully in the new versions, and if saved correctly to open with previous versions. I am afraid that the current default setting is too error prone. It should be possible, I'll make a quick fix this week. Great. I keep my fingers crossed. Done, the page now only show version 0 cases: http://vm12.documentfoundation.org/manage/cases/ The following is some explanations: I did some investigation today and found each case/version pair stores as a single data record in database, so navigating between versions depend on the URL containing a specific case/version id. For example, the following refers to the same case with different version: http://vm12.documentfoundation.org/manage/caseversion/298/ http://vm12.documentfoundation.org/manage/caseversion/330/ By default the case management page filtering out only the *latest* version of a case and gives a specific editing url for each. I have thought to make a *seemless* transition to show the *latest* version but given a *0* version edit link, but felt it might bring some confusing. So I changed the filter to always show Version 0 instead of the *latest* version as a solution. Meanwhile switching among versions is still available by 2 ways: 1. click the Advance Filtering button and click Libreoffice x.x in product version criteria field. 2. click the pencil icon to edit a single case and switch the version inside. It is noticeable for those cases particularly created for a version X.Y while not existed in Version 0, only the way 1 is available. But I doubt it will be a usual case :) How do you think about that? Is this solution accepatble? Get the test manager authentication from community I am a bit confused by this item. Do you mean that people need to send a mail to you to get the Test Manager permissions? Yes, I meant the Test Manager role mentioned in: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Testing/Test_Cases_Contribution Sorry to bring the misunderstanding :) 4. In the page, make sure the version of the case is switched to *0* by: - Around the top right corner of the page, hover the mouse on the version selection list box right below the Select environment - Click the version initiated with 0, in this case, it should be 0 creating a table in database and increment records Would be possible to set 0 as the default version for editing? I am afraid that the current default setting is too error prone. It should be possible, I'll make a quick fix this week. 6. Click save test case button to save the translation work. Please noted the saved content will not apply to existed other versions until a new version which copies the test cases from version 0 is created. Would be possible to synchronize the 3.6 test cases with the 0 version before we start a real testing with 3.6.3? It will not be that easy to make a generic code change, since this will probably change internal gears of Moztrap. So one thing we could do is to: 1. update the version 0 test cases 2. remove the existed version 3.6 and recreate the version 3.6 so that it could copy updated test cases from version 0 It could be done just by a few more clicks, very simple :) Best wishes, Yifan ___ List Name: Libreoffice-qa mailing list Mail address: Libreoffice-qa@lists.freedesktop.org Change settings: http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-qa Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/libreoffice-qa/
Re: [Libreoffice-qa] Moztrap, some questions
Hi Sophie, I agree with your point that the localization is important, while the function and working process a tool is able to provide is also critical to meet our goal, isn't it? :) Moztrap takes more advantage in the latter and it has an activated development team. That's why I still believe it is worthy a bit of thinking how to workaround the l10n solution in Moztrap. If you are doing some research for some other tools or methods, I'll certainly be here to support when a potential better tool or method appears in front of us :) Let me go back a bit to Moztrap. As I ever mentioned two types of localization need to be concern: 1. UI localization of Moztrap buttons, navigators etc. 2. Test case l10n that allows people to translate existing test cases, according to with testers will be able to understand them. The 1st point tightly depends on upstream framework update, I might be able to help out to implement it in future if we reach common sense with upstream. But it seems less important than the second one, I remember we used Litmus either without this before? I guess the 2nd point is more emergent in our situation since the content of test cases should be standing understandable and suitable for language specific function coverage. Then people can immediately start to test without knowing much English. Noticed from the last mail, 2 workarounds come to my mind: 1. we do similar things what we did in Litmus that put all language versions test case into a single one by mixed manner. 2. translate the test case in wiki and give the link back to Moztrap Now I am expanding more about the first workaround. Through the split Step concept in Moztrap together with a nice feature I just found that test case steps/expected pair is Markdown syntax supported (http://daringfireball.net/projects/markdown/syntax#list), a new idea comes to my mind that it is possible we use the Steps to distinguish various language version of a test case. Here is what it possibly looks like the demo: http://vm12.documentfoundation.org/runtests/run/21/env/631/ Concretely, for one particular language, we may put a real life test case steps and expected results into one single row of Moztrap step/expected box. Each Moztrap step would represent a full description of the detailed test content in one language. For creating a readable format of each steps, we can use pretty simple Markdown language. Basically the content in the demo was populated in the text (with a bit markdown rules) as: --- Test that creating a new database - case 1 When in English === * launch Libreoffice Base (vp1) * enter a name for the database in the dialog box and click OK (vp4) Then in English === 1. the database application appears, the database wizard opens 2. the dialog for save and proceed appears When in French == * lancement LibreOffice Base (vp1) * cochez la case [Créer une base de données], puis cliquez sur le bouton Suivant. (vp2) Then in French == 1. l'application de base de données apparaît, l'assistant base de données s'ouvre 2. la boîte de dialogue pour sauvegarder et passer apparaît Test that creating a new database - case 2 When in English === .. Then in English === .. When in French == .. Then in French == .. --- In addition, for more concept of Moztrap, the official manual is helpful: http://moztrap.readthedocs.org/en/1.0.X/userguide/index.html Also I am on my way updating Moztrap wiki pages this week: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Moztrap https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Moztrap/Moztrap_User_Guide Would you let me On Tue, Aug 14, 2012 at 02:55:31PM +0200, Sophie Gautier wrote: Hi Yifan, On 13/08/2012 12:08, Yifan Jiang wrote: Hi Sophie, On Mon, Aug 13, 2012 at 11:14:34AM +0200, Sophie Gautier wrote: Hi all, Yifan, So after a long time (sorry for this long absence), I would like to come back to Moztrap and try to help to test it. [Libreoffice-qa] [ANN] Moztrap evaluation online - code and bugs
Dear fellows, This mail is part of the main thread of Moztrap evaluation online. Bug, Code = If you want to file a bug or an enhancement, please report it to freedesktop bugzilla with Product Libreoffice, Component WWW. More details of howto report a bug is described here: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport#Reporting_a_bug_in_few_Steps For developers, we deployed 1.0.x Moztrap on our server, the development and deploy documentation can be found in: http://readthedocs.org/docs/moztrap/en/1.0.X/index.html It is valuable to tell that our deployment of Moztrap has merged several hacks, which make it a bit diverse from the upstream one. The current major change is that we allow testers to share testing results. They work as one and do not need to repeat the same case in the same test environment. If you want to dig more into this, please refer to the TODO mail or let me know. Patches, which are warmly welcome, can be sent directly to me and the mailing list :) Best wishes, Yifan ___ List Name: Libreoffice-qa mailing list Mail address: Libreoffice-qa@lists.freedesktop.org Change settings: http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-qa Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/libreoffice-qa/
[Libreoffice-qa] [ANN] Moztrap evaluation online - todo, known issues and contacts
Dear fellows, This mail is part of the main thread of Moztrap evaluation online. Known issues and TODO items === 1. We need to update wiki pages 2. Decide the login method, Registrationlogin/Mozilla id/Openid? 3. Occasionally you may meet cross site verification failure when logging in: Forbidden (403) CSRF verification failed. Request aborted. This is not expected but I didn't find out why it happens, possibly it is an improper tuning of Moztrap or a bug. On my side, simply refreshing times will get the page loaded successfully. We will need to resolve this any way. 4. The running version is based on upstream 1.0.x branch, with slight hacks: The original system does not design for users sharing testing results among each other, I revised a bit of the related code to allow testers working as ONE that they will see/retest others' testing status if they have the same test case and same environment settings to run. So ideally our QA people will not run the same case in the same environment again and again. Instead blindly test those cases already executed, they can explicitly revise others' testing result when necessary. However currently the hacking has its limitation. Different testers could modify results for a given test case and test environment, only the last result is stored but the name of the first tester is associated with it. We will need to burnish the hack. 5. Look into i18n and l10n of Moztrap, we need translation system for both test cases and Moztrap UI. 6. Handling locale independent and OS independent test cases. It makes perfect sense to run those cases in any and an only locale or OS. In the situation, testers should have a equal information of the results of those test cases when they are testing in certain different environment set. Mostly this is for saving our resources of testing. [Libreoffice-qa] [ANN] Moztrap evaluation online - roles and permissions
Dear fellows, This mail is part of the main thread of Moztrap evaluation online. By default, Moztrap allows Guest touring of the system. Without any registration, anyone can review testing result and how they organized. For practical evaluation of the system, you should have either of the following roles. Tester role === Natively Moztrap supports either Mozilla Persona ID or traditional registered way of log in. Since using and hacking to support those method or OpenID solution is still pending, we only enabled the traditional way at the moment. After a successful registration, you will be automatically assigned as a tester, namely you could run test cases when the id is born :) Test creator role = If you have test cases on hand and want to contribute the test case base, please do not hesitate to let me know :) In addition, as the format of test case, I feel it would be convenient to follow the Moztrap Bulk test case entry rule, that a text based test case can be stored and exchanged conveniently. More details of how it works can be found: http://readthedocs.org/docs/moztrap/en/1.0.X/userguide/ui/import.html#bulk-test-case-entry-formats Admin role == Admins could organize test runs, test cases organizations etc. Litmus admins, please let me know when registered, I'll assign corresponding admin permission for you. If some one out of Litmus admin team who wants to try the test case management tasks, please show off your previously proven contribution to Libreoffice project. Admins would evaluate and decide the granting of permission. I see the following in my account profile: --- cut --- Web Services Auth Token: None ⇐ A web services authentication token allows this user to submit automated testing results. --- cut --- Sophie, Yi Fan, others, how could we get privileges to write test cases? Hi drew, I am sorry for the late reply that I was in intensive trips in the past days. Thanks drew to contribute on that, the priviledge has been added now, would you please try it? BTW, since we udpated the test cases organization recently, so some of the description in wiki page could be obsolete, please do not hesitate to ask me at any time if any questions :) To add new cases, please 1. put language neatual cases in an proper group/subgroup of the branch * Master Function Regression Test 2. put language dependent cases in a proper group/subgroup of the branch * Master L10N Regression Test 3. Also please make the summary of new cases consistent with the existing ones (initial with symbol like # w001 - , which means the first case of Writer). Thank you! Do we really want to limit it to special accounts? We are lack of test cases, so we should make it easy. @ Petr IMHO we may make the access more open at least with the problems resolved: 1. At the moment, the only user group can edit testcases is the Litmus Super Admin, which has an access to manage everything including other people's account. AFAIK, we had a particular Test run Admin group designed for test case editing but it didn't work properly currently :( 2. I am not quite sure if we have a backup/version control in Litmus, so it would be better to update/remove cases with cautious. @Rimas Do you have some comments on the above? @Sophie and Litmus admins, I have added drew to super admin priviledge since we have got problems in Test Run Admin user group.
