[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 87787] New: Improve cell border assignment
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=87787 Bug ID: 87787 Summary: Improve cell border assignment Product: LibreOffice Version: Inherited From OOo Hardware: Other OS: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: medium Component: ux-advise Assignee: libreoffice-b...@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: philip...@hotmail.com CC: libreoffice-ux-advise@lists.freedesktop.org Not sure if this should be considered a bug or an enhancement, bug setting cell borders in writer and calc are a major pain because cells that share the same border visually can have different border settings and these border dont play nicely together. For writer, if you insert a table of 3x3, and in cell B2 you set the borders to none, the left and bottom borders show as transparent but not the top and right. I'm assuming the way the cells are being draw to make up the table maybe causing it to look like this, as unfortunately there isnt a means for me to open up the cell properties and see exactly what is going on. In order to achieve what is intended, a user will likely have to jump through many hoops to get the way it should be. For calc, select a number of cells (e.g. C7:F16), and set their inner and outer borders, then select one of the cells (e.g. E12) in the changed cells and set its borders to none. You wont visually see a difference because the cells around it all have their borders on. So in order to achieve what is intended, a user will have to go to each of the 4 cells around it, open up the formatting cell dialog and disable the related sides. So the simple solution is that when a cell border is set or unset in any manner (border width, style, color, etc), that its neighboring cells must also be set or unset in the same way. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-ux-advise mailing list Libreoffice-ux-advise@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-ux-advise

Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open IMPRESS 2. Go to INSERT - MOVIE AND SOUND and insert a sound or video file 3. (Optional if you had never activated the Media Playback in the past) Go to VIEW - TOOLSBARS - Select the MEDIA PLAYBACK toolbar 4. Click on the media file Result: The Media Playback toolbar appears in an extra line at the bottom. Here you can now start the file, stop it, wind it forward etc. Now take a look at the Sidebar on the right. In PROPERTIES section of the Sidebar you have only the Position and Size values and a lot of unused space below. Reproducible with LO 4.3.4.1 (Win 8.1). @Jay: Do you have the same further issues as I? I have no tooltips for the Wind Forwards and Volume controllers. The buttons in Media Playback toolbar could be a little bit darker or have a higher contrast (in case of SIFR, CRYSTAL and TANGO icon style). Strange and interesting. I did not recognized it before in WRITER. But for me this is inconsistent and a buggy behaviour, because I see no reason for it. This is for me also inconsistent and a buggy behaviour, because I can't see any reason yet. Maybe anybody else has a good explanation? For me as a normal user this is buggy and annoying. It is inconsistent for me, because inside a table I have borders to distinct between cells. If I want to change it, why do I have to change it from both sides? And in CALC I have also similar effect as in WRITER. If I set in a number of cells inner and outer borders and then select only one cell within them and change the colour of the total outer border it gets only changed at the top and on the left. So the simple solution is that when a cell border is set or unset in any manner (border width, style, color, etc), that its neighboring cells must also be set or unset in the same way. I would agree. At least I don't have any idea yet, why it should not. Maybe anybody else has also any further thoughts about these issues? @Markus: Can you maybe also help with this issue? Yes i think it would be good to have such a section to allow users to add additional editors not automatically detected (Andy had a long list), but we should do some automatic detection (even if it is just one per OS - GIMP [linux], paint.exe [Windows], Not sure what [OSX]), just like we do with java detection. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-ux-advise mailing list Libreoffice-ux-advise@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-ux-advise

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=87695 --- Comment #3 from Cor Nouws c...@nouenoff.nl --- (In reply to Jay Philips from comment #2) Was suggesting it at the bottom as then the result list wont be shifting up and down when you open and close the filter section. Shouldn't be any problem given the examples I gave. So OK to do it at top ? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-ux-advise mailing list Libreoffice-ux-advise@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-ux-advise
[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 87794] SIDEBAR: Media playback content panel/section
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=87794 --- Comment #2 from Jay Philips philip...@hotmail.com --- (In reply to A (Andy) from comment #1) @Jay: Do you have the same further issues as I? I have no tooltips for the Wind Forwards and Volume controllers. Yes there aint tooltips for it, you should file that one. CC me if you want me to confirm it. :D The buttons in Media Playback toolbar could be a little bit darker or have a higher contrast (in case of SIFR, CRYSTAL and TANGO icon style). The SIFR, CRYSTAL and TANGO icon style have all the same buttons. Yes the gradient on the stroke is causing it not to look that crisp. Yes they are all falling back on the tango icons. Does the Scale View drop-down list box have any effect for you? No it is disabled for me and the tooltip just says 'View' which i was wondering what that was supposed to mean. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-ux-advise mailing list Libreoffice-ux-advise@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-ux-advise

[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 87753] TOOLBAR: Media playback toolbar should appear at the top
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=87753 A (Andy) stgohi-lob...@yahoo.de changed: What|Removed |Added CC||stgohi-lob...@yahoo.de See Also||https://bugs.freedesktop.or ||g/show_bug.cgi?id=87794 --- Comment #1 from A (Andy) stgohi-lob...@yahoo.de --- Reproducible with LO 4.3.4.1 and 4.4.0.0.beta1 (Win 8.1) Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open IMPRESS 2. Go to INSERT - MOVIE AND SOUND and insert a sound or video file 3. (Optional if you had never activated the Media Playback in the past) Go to VIEW - TOOLBARS - Select the MEDIA PLAYBACK toolbar 4. Click on the media file Result: The Media Playback toolbar appears at the bottom. Through this the main window jumps up and down and this feels fitful/jerky. I would also think that it should be moved up at the top. @Jay: In the Bug Report 87794 you also propose alternatively to move the Media Playback toolbar into the Sidebar. What would prefer most, to move it into the Sidebar or at the top? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-ux-advise mailing list Libreoffice-ux-advise@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-ux-advise
[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 87809] New: SIDEBAR: Make custom animation elements fit in tab size
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=87809 Bug ID: 87809 Summary: SIDEBAR: Make custom animation elements fit in tab size Product: LibreOffice Version: 4.5.0.0.alpha0+ Master Hardware: Other OS: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: medium Component: ux-advise Assignee: libreoffice-b...@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: philip...@hotmail.com CC: libreoffice-ux-advise@lists.freedesktop.org Blocks: 65138 Created attachment 111441 -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=111441action=edit custom animation sidebar tab The elements in the custom animation tab of impress are taking up to much width, for no particular reason that i can see. You can see the main list element is being cropped on the right, as well as the options button on the direction line. I think we could easily change the options button from a text button to an image button with an wrench icon. Doing this would also make room to push the various controls from touching the left side of the sidebar. Note: The size of the toolbar shown is the minimum size used in the properties tab. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-ux-advise mailing list Libreoffice-ux-advise@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-ux-advise
[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 87813] New: SIDEBAR: Incorporating the effects list into the animation tab
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=87813 Bug ID: 87813 Summary: SIDEBAR: Incorporating the effects list into the animation tab Product: LibreOffice Version: 4.5.0.0.alpha0+ Master Hardware: Other OS: All Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: ux-advise Assignee: libreoffice-b...@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: philip...@hotmail.com CC: libreoffice-ux-advise@lists.freedesktop.org Blocks: 65138 In impress, in order to add an effect, you click on a add effect button which opens up a dialog where you select the effect you want to add. This seems to be a very clumsy way of going about this when the contents of this dialog could easily be integrated into the sidebar with a drop down list for effect category and (ideally) a listbox for the effects list. Another alternative is to have a single drop down list or listbox listing the most important entries from each category that a user can choose from. When a user doesnt find the effect they want to use, they will click on a 'More...' button at the bottom of the list which would open up the effects dialog and then a user can choose an entry from the list. Once chosen, that entry will now be shown in the condensed list for easy access to the next time the user wants to use it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-ux-advise mailing list Libreoffice-ux-advise@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-ux-advise

[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 87685] include ODF opening options announcement by default when sending document by e-mail
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=87685 --- Comment #2 from Adolfo Jayme (UX) f...@libreoffice.org --- Thanks for sharing your idea. This is a little worrying. I can imagine other projects’ leaders roaring because of alleged “unfair competition” (as if we were competing). Also, I personally hate it when software adds advertisement to e-mails, such as the hideous “Sent from my iPad”. Let’s face it, it’s advertising. I would leave the users’ e-mail content alone, and leave the recommendation of ODF-compatible software at their discretion. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-ux-advise mailing list Libreoffice-ux-advise@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-ux-advise
