[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 86299] SIDEBAR: Proposal for the reorganization of the properties tab
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=86299 --- Comment #5 from Heiko Tietze heiko.tie...@user-prompt.com --- (In reply to Jay Philips from comment #4) Spoke with Heiko... The planned guideline for sidebars will probably state that the main purpose is to tweak properties quickly (at least I will vote for this). Menu buttons, combo boxes, and overlay widgets (e.g. color) are not appropriate for this task. Sidebars are for Benjamin-like user. So it must not be overwhelming with a lot of options. The full scope of features have to be available in dialogs. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-ux-advise mailing list Libreoffice-ux-advise@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-ux-advise
[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 90374] SIDEBAR: Having the sidebar with a fixed width across all tabs
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90374 --- Comment #10 from Heiko Tietze heiko.tie...@user-prompt.com --- Resizing sidebars allows to adopt to different content over tools but not within. As a user I have no benefit from resizing (exaggerated spoken). On the other hand, Eve [1] might want to have more individualization since sidebars take a lot of vertical space, too much on 4:3 displays. So it make sense to change the content of the sidebar on resizing. For instance by hiding captions or in general replacing text by icons. Another idea would be to have some kind of alignment that leads to rearranged/wrapped controls depending on the width. [1] Eve is our persona for expert users. It will be added to the wiki soon. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-ux-advise mailing list Libreoffice-ux-advise@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-ux-advise

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90888 --- Comment #2 from Heiko Tietze heiko.tie...@user-prompt.com --- (In reply to Jay Philips from comment #0) Number Format: * Removal of 'Category:' label as its redundant Every control should have a caption in order to make it accessible via hotkey (alt+C here). I'd remove the dropdown since it's redundant to the buttons below, that are a better mean to quickly change the format. However, in this case the label makes no sense anymore. PS: Hotkey access at the sidebar is completely broken (by design?). We need a guideline here. Alignment: * Removing/Hiding the 'text orientation:' subsection or alternatively just leaving the label and the angle rotation field. Most frequently used orientation setting should be 90°. All other options may be accessed via dialog. Cell Appearance: * Removing 'show cell grid lines' checkbox as its not a property of a cell but is of the sheet and its is not a frequently unused feature Agreed * Removing 'cell border:' label as its redundant Same as above -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-ux-advise mailing list Libreoffice-ux-advise@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-ux-advise
[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 90883] WRITER: Selecting rows/columns doesnt change the behaviour of insert buttons

(In reply to V Stuart Foote from comment #1) @Jay, hate to state the obvious, but Calc's cells/columns/rows have no data structure in common with Table's cells/columns/rows. I'm quite aware that they dont. ;D Yes it is worth looking at for consistency of UI. I'm not sure of all details of the exposed attributes for Writer Tables, but the enhancement may simply not be possible. I believe it will be possible. We can detect when an entire row is selected, as you can see it in the statusbar, so using the same information, we should be able to change the behaviour of the uno commands to insert accordingly. In general, there is no reason to expect .uno commands affecting Calc sheets to function the same when the .uno command is affecting Tables in Writer (or other modules that implement tables). Not saying that it should, but i'm suggesting that unifying the behaviour means that its easier for users to have a consistent experience between the apps. Likewise, selection of rows/columns in Calc is not the same as its counterpart in Writer Tables. These selections also happens to use the same UNO commands--but also have different actions appropriate to the Object type. I'm aware of this, which is why i have asked that alternative insert uno commands be created for writer which have the similar insertion direction behavior (bug 90882). Another problem is that these same named uno commands have the single icons to them when they have different behaviours, which also causes more problems. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-ux-advise mailing list Libreoffice-ux-advise@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-ux-advise

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90374 --- Comment #11 from V Stuart Foote vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu --- The Sidebar deck already provides for contextual adjustments to active Content Panels.
