[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 92458] New: Kill the “Human” theme and integrate “elementary”
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92458 Bug ID: 92458 Summary: Kill the “Human” theme and integrate “elementary” Product: LibreOffice Version: unspecified Hardware: Other URL: https://github.com/shimmerproject/libreoffice-style-el ementary OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: UI Assignee: libreoffice-b...@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: f...@libreoffice.org QA Contact: f...@libreoffice.org CC: libreoffice-ux-advise@lists.freedesktop.org, michael.me...@collabora.com The “Human” theme is so named because it is derived from Humanity, an icon theme originally developed for Ubuntu as a derivation of the original elementary theme. Nowadays, this LibreOffice theme is unmaintained, highly incomplete, and visually obsolete. The Shimmer Project (known for Xubuntu and the Numix GTK+ theme) is creating an updated icon theme, based on Human, but including the newest elementary icons as well as creating original new ones. @Michael: I added you to the CC list because of a licensing question: Simon, one of the Shimmer Project developers, asked me if it is necessary to put together a list of the individual icons and their license (à la icon-themes/human/CopyrightsHuman). [1] Based on what I understand of [2], that would mean “attribution bloat”, right? - [1]: https://github.com/shimmerproject/libreoffice-style-elementary/issues/1#issuecomment-117154479 [2]: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/License_Policy -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-ux-advise mailing list Libreoffice-ux-advise@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-ux-advise
[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 92458] Kill the “Human” theme and integrate “elementary”
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92458 Michael Meeks changed: What|Removed |Added Status|UNCONFIRMED |NEW CC||tima...@gmail.com Ever confirmed|0 |1 --- Comment #1 from Michael Meeks --- Sigh - if we can possibly avoid it - I'd -really- prefer to avoid having masses of copies of new licenses with un-necessary individual (or corporate) copyright claims in them. Then again - if you're going to do the work - its good to poke Andras with the changes to the license language you want. Of course - crediting the authors of the icons is best done by people committing them to git and getting credited in our credit page - that's something we're enthusiastic about =) Does that help ? either way upgrading Human sounds sensible to me if people want to work on that. [Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 92317] Sidebar size is not constrained by its content
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92317 Jean-Baptiste Faure changed: What|Removed |Added CC||jbfa...@libreoffice.org --- Comment #7 from Jean-Baptiste Faure --- (In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #4) > (In reply to V Stuart Foote from comment #3) > > (In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #2) > > > The sidebar content must not get cropped on resizing. > > > > Why? > > Almost all basic ux-principles. I disagree, the user should be free to resize the sidebar as he want. In the case of the Styles & Formatting tab, the style preview may lead to very wide sidebar if some style is defined with a long name and a big font size. Idem in the Properties tab with the style dropdown list. Currently you can set the Properties tab size to the value you want by changing the Style&Formatting tab size first. So it seems there is several processes trying to set the same size. That should be simplified. Best regards. [Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 92317] Sidebar size is not constrained by its content
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92317 --- Comment #8 from Heiko Tietze --- (In reply to Jean-Baptiste Faure from comment #7) > > Almost all basic ux-principles. > I disagree, the user should be free to resize the sidebar as he want. I don't talk about the ability to resize the sidebar (there are other tickets about). But there is absolutely no question that controls must not get hidden on resizing (without any clue that there is more, like chevrons or a scrollbar thumb). You would violate at least these principles: * Interfaces should provide feedback about their current status. Users should never wonder what state the system is in. * Users should be able to discover functionality and information by visually exploring the interface, they should not be forced to recall information from memory. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-ux-advise mailing list Libreoffice-ux-advise@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-ux-advise
