Selecting multiple objects (with Shift-click adding them to the temporary group) simply activates those objects showing handles on them. If you then click and drag one, they all get dragged (i.e. members of the temporary group). If you resize one, they all are INDIVIDUALLY resized the same amount. Etc. Clicking outside of any of the multiple objects deselects them all. The F5 shortcut controls the second detached (docked/floating) instance of the Navigator deck as its own dialog. The functionally limited Sidebar resident deck is _secondary_ because we still need to retain the preferred split F5 (Navigator) & F11 (Styles & Formatting) workflows. What is the use case? "...would be good..." is not good. Guess you have
consistency and detectability of functions in mind.
What should happen when the field contains data? Guess it should be overridden.
What happens in case of multi selection? Maybe disable the function.
Why is this type of interaction needed anyway since Calc works with functions.
For instance it could be =INFO("SheetName").
(OT: Put this onto the agenda for the design meeting.)

I found an other issue with this previews, that if you set a different color and then click reset, the color picker button shows the right color (the color before the change), but the preview is not updated accordingly.
