If the LibreOffice community decides it's not a valuable function to have, then
that's that. Personally, I believe it's very valuable. When I use Google
Sheets, whenever I edit a document, it's rare that I don't use this function.

"Clone tool" and "Double Click Clone tool" do not offer the same effectiveness.

I'm not a coder, and I don't know what modifications for LibreOffice this
entails. It's very easy for me to make suggestions. I know it is another thing
to do the work.

Cheers!

[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 130547] Function & Hotkey to Paste Format only in LO Writer - Enhancement Request

That's actually a good question.

It could be the same functionality as with the "Clone Formatting". E.g. If a
Non-formatted text and a bold text are in the same selection, then the clone
tool is pressed, when pasted, the clone tool seems to ignore any format
selected. It's too confusing to know what the user wants to paste, and I agree
with that.

In Google Docs, they seem to have a different approach. I haven't quite figured
out the logic behind the function. Sometimes some attributes get pasted and
other times, others.

(In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #4)

> allow to quickly jump to it.
Nope. More like the "Area" tab (in, for example, Paragraph Style dialog), where
clicking on a radio button shows all and only the controls that correspond to
the button.

Attachment 157713 shows idea (with two Draw slides).
Click on "General" and only "General" controls are shown.
Click on "Spreadsheet", only Spreadsheet controls are shown.

(eliminates completely the need to "scroll" in a big window)

Thanks a lot for this great proposal. I love to read concepts and not just the
final artwork. What you write makes a lot of sense and I can easily follow the
idea of streaming everything around office into the TDF's paperclip logo. To
some extend I see also the swatch [1] being represented, at least the colors
are greenish. We could also update the color swatch (it's on my todo list
anyway). Or, if you want to play, make the drawing more #18A303-ish. But I'd
prefer a new swatch.
Regarding the About dialog we would have to move things around a bit but that's
not a big deal.

However, I would like to open the topic for the whole branding. That is:

* icon-themes/*/brand/intro.png
* icon-themes/*/brand_dev/intro.png
=> splash screen for development and final versions with and without TDF
tagline
currently 661 x 169, 8-bit/color RGBA, interlaced

* icon-themes/*/brand/flat_logo.svg
=> image on top of the about box
currently 810 x 133

* icon-themes/*/brand/shell/about.svg
=> background of the about box, empty for 6.x
currently 648 x 667

* instsetoo_native/inc_common/windows/msi_templates/Binary/Banner.bmp
=> image used for the Windows installer progress
PC bitmap, Windows 95/NT4 and newer format, 632 x 57 x 8

* instsetoo_native/inc_common/windows/msi_templates/Binary/Image.bmp
=> image used for the Windows installer first page
Windows BMP image 162 x 312

* setup_native/source/packinfo/osxdndinstall.png
=> image for macOS package
PNG image data, 550 x 443, 8-bit/color RGBA, non-interlaced

Archive for 6.x and 5.x branding is here
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Marketing/Branding#Releases. For the 6.x
version we tried to eat our own dogfood but I think Inkscape is fine. Some
proposals are stored here

2020-02-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=130807

Bug ID: 130807
   Summary: Writer: Add GUI option to rotate text in table as
icons in table toolbar
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: needsUXEval
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: high
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-b...@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: gti...@gmail.com
CC: libreoffice-ux-advise@lists.freedesktop.org

Text in Writer table can be rotated via Format-Character-Position or set by
Table-Properties-Text Flow or with right-click Style using predefined table
style or using rotation in text box.
While this gives possibilities, it's not obvious to know nor easy to repeat.

There should be GUI option to rotate text in table.
I suggest to add 2 icons in table toolbar for rotation via
Format-Character-Position and text orientation via Table-Properties-Text Flow.

But I think, that this helps to use the Formular in a more customizable way, so
that if your use in LibreOffice Impress a Formular you can format the color in
the presentations stile.

We discussed the topic in the design meeting. Regina has a point with Image

be the only way. But on the other hand, users expect consistency and hate when
the menu changes. So the decision is to keep the current menu => WFM.

--- Comment #22 from Heiko Tietze  ---
We discussed the topic in the design meeting. While the need is clear for
footnotes and endnotes (bug 100018), we have a well-known workflow in general.
What we can do is:

a) Keep the source PS not only for empty target paragraphs but also ignore all
white-space: when pasting somewhere in the middle of a paragraph it is very
unlikely that the source PS should be applied, so just ignoring white-space
might solve the actual problem
b) Introduce a new paste special option (or a new UNO command in order to
assign a shortcut) that pastes without paragraph style but not unformatted:
with this option the user can decide whether the target PS is overridden or
not; the current behavior of paste and paste special wouldn't change
c) Enhance the PS attributes by a flag "[ ] Override style on paste" that
allows to define individually whether or not pasting formatted clipboard
content should change the target PS; this solution could be used for Footnotes
as requested in bug 100018

We discussed the topic in the design meeting. For footnotes and endnotes it
makes sense to override the default behavior and to keep the target paragraph
style (footnote/endnote) even when the operation is done in a non-empty
paragraph.

All other aspects should be discussed on bug 98381.

Love to learn new English words. Hope it has not the pejorative connotation as
it sounds.

What we do here is to balance individual wishes with general needs. Ease of use
comes with simplicity and consistency but as a product that is used for many
years we also have to care about familiarity. Please keep this in mind.
