[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 147948] Visual improvements in LibreOffice - Mockups - "revolutionary, good, simple" ideas
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=147948 --- Comment #12 from Yeron 50201 --- Notes: 1. It's just some visual suggestions or improvements I wanted to implement in LibreOffice. 2. The previous bars are not bad, what I present here is just one more option, one more user freedom, so to speak, for him (the user) to decide how to customize LibreOffice in addition to the previous menu bars. 3. When you hover the cursor over the minimal bar menu, the area where the cursor is is blue, highlighting the clickable menu, something that already happens in previous menu bars. 4. It is possible to reposition the minimal bar menu, considering that the menu can be fixed or not. That is, I can position the menu left or right - ie side(left), side(right) or I can position up or down. The default option is for the menu to be fixed upwards as shown in the photo. 5. The option to remove or add an icon is something that comes with some previous menu bars, here in the minimal bar we take advantage of this same feature, so the user can choose which icons are in the minimal menu bar. 6. In the minimal menu bar it is possible to rearrange the context menu, that menu that appears when you right-click in the document area. 7. It is possible to arrange the shortcut keys or events in the minimal menu bar. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=147948 --- Comment #11 from Yeron 50201 --- (subtitle: R = response) This could be applied in which LibreOffice programs? R- This could be applied in Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, Math, Base. Are you charging any cost, license for this idea, design? R- No, it's free, open. Is it your own? R- Yes in theory, so there may be people who have already thought the same. In fact, I did some research and some users have thought of something like this in LibreOffice in the past, but I haven't found any ui - user interface material that demonstrates this idea. So, part of this idea is mine and part of it is the users, it's an initial and draft idea. However, I believe it is somehow innovative, different and unique. How did you create the user interface? R- Figma, Kiss. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 147948] Visual improvements in LibreOffice - Mockups - "revolutionary, good, simple" ideas
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=147948 --- Comment #8 from Yeron 50201 --- Hey guys, Thank you very much for the comments, I will clarify all doubts now. So this would be the minimal interface, in the minimal interface you would only have the most common buttons, I was inspired by Google Docs and I wanted to have something similar in LibreOffice, whoever came from Google Docs could really like LibreOffice Writer with this user interface option . It is very similar to existing user interfaces like Single Bar, Compact Bar, Compact Grouped Bar, Contextual Bar. Well the difference would be these 3: The minimal bar or minimal toolbar is a bar with the following characteristic: it is a menu bar grouped in a compact, unique and contextual way. It seems to be something strange, but my idea is to take these previous ideas, or rather join the concepts of Single Bar, Compact Grouped Bar, Contextual Bar, Single Contextual Bar in a new and unique concept. This would be similar to the bar you see in Google Docs when you are editing a document. The second feature that is very interesting is that it has a slide to the left and to the right, this is necessary to display all the menu icons always on the side. My idea here would be that the user would not need access to the above menu, he would only access the icons to perform his work normally. I think this would be a great alternative, given that some icons users are familiar with such as the text formatting icon etc. In addition, it is noticed that the user could focus only on the icons he needs to perform his work normally or better to format his text in the best possible way. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm right somehow this would be my preferred user interface because it's similar to Google Docs which is something I usually use when I need to share a specific document or when most people call me to edit something on the web. I tried to focus on the KISS idea - “Keep It Simple, Stupid” i.e. “Keep something easy, simple” in terms of design. Another innovation, different from the previous bars is that here you could remove the icons, customize the way you think it's interesting, of course this would be an option to customize the minimum bar, by default this minimal bar would be as shown in the photo. However, if the user wants to change, he would have this option. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

For example, see the attached ODG where I took screenshots of how Excel (online and desktop) as well as Google Sheets address this issue. They basically use background highlight colors to make it more visible to the user. We could adopt this strategy in LO as well. Just as a side note, this issue became more apparent to me while using LO Calc during class, where I show spreadsheets using a projector and I have to zoom in so that students can see what I'm teaching. When I double-clicked a formula, I was not able to see the rectangles, because they were to thin. And on my laptop I could barely see them. If we had thicker borders or a background highlight color, this issue could be solved. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
