[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 133836] Autofilter enables deselect items automatically when typing a search
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=133836 Heiko Tietze changed: What|Removed |Added CC|heiko.tietze@documentfounda |libreoffice-ux-advise@lists |tion.org|.freedesktop.org Keywords||needsUXEval --- Comment #29 from Heiko Tietze --- I still have my doubts with the proposed solution. Currently we have a tri-state checkbox with auto-select on input. Typing "lorem" shows all content with this keyword, the checkbox "All" is indetermined allowing to select all or nothing. The UI is clear and easy to understand, yet lacks on the ability to combine search terms. If we change the control to "[/] Add Visible", typing "ipsum" could auto-add the result to the previous "lorem" but unchecking would probably apply to all items. This is not clear enough. The idea with a checkbox "[ ] Auto select" before the search term still fails here (and requires additional clicks). Turning it into "[ ] Add" ends up in a strange workflow where one has to select the checkbox first to get the intended result - otherwise all previous input would be lost. I can imagine some Google-ish/RegEx-like input where "lorem +ipsum" returns a combination (or one needs to quote to get the exact result). Question is whether users can deal with this flexibility. We may show the first results separately, maybe underneath the current. But in the end as control is missing to combine searches. Don't see how we get there without plastering the UI with more controls. Any good idea? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
[Libreoffice-ux-advise] [Bug 158518] Allow user to specify any of three italic types (It, Em, Cite) in character styles; allow this to determine html code of created ebooks
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=158518 Heiko Tietze changed: What|Removed |Added Ever confirmed|0 |1 Status|UNCONFIRMED |NEEDINFO --- Comment #2 from Heiko Tietze --- Doesn't it depend entirely on the font whether more than one italic form is available, eg. oblique? Or do you have a slider control in mind that adjusts the slantness? => NEEDINFO In any case you can define character styles with your choices. We predefine "Emphasis" using just italic (and show this on the "Formatting (Styles)" toolbar). And "Quotation" (not using the same attributes, indeed a bit odd. Bug 35538 requests a better handling of fonts with more than 4 styles and bug 151322 is about to stop identifying italic with slanted/oblique. Maybe we can make this ticket a duplicate of one. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=158312 --- Comment #9 from Mike Kaganski --- Please, *NO* additional magic that seems like making things easier, but is a pandora box of new bugs, because of x2 new states. Again: if wanted - add a button to the Print dialog to open Page Style dialog. Point people to the *correct* place, do not introduce new ways of doing same things - which would then *at best* result in questions like "what is the relations between these settings and those settings". -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

We can try make the checkbox initially enabled, but so that its changes are saved for the device. In this case, if someone often needs a feature with changing layout, then it will be enough to turn off the checkbox once (but for new users this checkbox will be a useful functionality). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

For starters we can rename "Orientation" to "Layout Orientation", and add name the checkbox "Change page orientation". If portrait orientation is selected and the checkbox is activated, then all page styles will be forced to adopt portrait orientation, also for landscape. The new name for Orientation will make it clear that parameter does't apply to the page, but only to the layout. The new checkbox will allow users who have moved from other offices to more easily adapt to LO, while they have't using the styles. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
