The Franklin Rex PCMCIA card sized organizers have been gbought by the Xircom
company and newer models with touch screen are now sold by them.

Of course, older models are cheaper on www.ebay.com. I got two Rex Pro-5
models for only $20/each! and they're a blast to use an sync. All needed
software can be downloaded directly from Xircom.com website.

The Rex is manufactured offshore (of the US) and is sold under other banners
outside of the US. It was originally developed and maketed by Frankin who
then sold the US (which was all the Franklin rights) rights to Xircom which
has now been acquired by Intel. I suspect that because of the poor marketing
by Franklin and Xircom (almost none except for a short stint at Radio Shack
which promoted it), problems with the initial runs of the 6000 and
temperature sensitive screens (blue out if it approaches body temperature it
will soon fade out of sight. I really enjoy my 5000. The software is a BIG
plus. It works with a wide range of apps including Lotus Notes and Organizer
and the Palm. I do have a Palm which I carry in a briefcase and use Notes in
the office and Organizer at home. The Notes to Palm app os the same price as
the 5000 was and with the 5000 I can synch Notes to Organizer without having
to go through exports and import routines. A few have bought the 5000 just
for the Notes to Palm connectivity since it is the same prices as the Lotus
app and more stable.

It appears that the software for the 6000 will not expand beyond Outlook
which I will not use because of several reasons including virus and lack of
features of Organizer.

About lack of support for Rex. Unfortunately, I don't recall the details,
but I am almost certain that a few months ago, I saw Rex's for sale in the
far East under a different brandname, so their may be support on some
different website. Perhaps we have a reader in the East who knows?
