[LIB] Lib FDD drivers for Linux

Subject: Lib FDD drivers for Linux

From: Christian Gennerat [EMAIL PROTECTED]

As Libretto has specific hardware, it is good to have support.
Now, we have a driver for our floppy (FlashBuster) , our video (NM2160)
and two concurrent drivers for IRDA. (the second is currently under test,
and I will soon update my driver page on libxg.free.fr and offer this new
driver.

Christian,

Are all three files necessary to set up the FDD in Linux:

http://libxg.free.fr/floppy/floppy_cs-201.tgz
http://libxg.free.fr/floppy/floppy_cs-202.tgz
http://libxg.free.fr/floppy/floppy_cs-203.tgz

Anything special to know about how to set up the driver? Am still running
Mandrake with the 2.2.15 kernel.

Okay... I see now that those drivers 2.xx versions for the Linux 2.4.x
kernel. Know where I can download the v1.03 drivers for the 2.2.x kernels?

Subject: New searchable archive site

Just found this new site archiving the Basiclink Lib list's posts:

Did I miss a post on who's set this up? It's only been going for a month or
so, but I notice the current posts are updated pretty quickly.

I added it this morning in http://libxg.free.fr/floppy/
But you can also get it from http://pcmcia-cs.sourceforge.net/ftp/contrib/

Hi everyone,

The JVC certainly is a fast machine, you can feel that Pentium III power.

Incidentally, I'm not sure if the homepage is clear (mine and JVC's) but
all batteries can be removed, so if you ever need to replace the tiny
base battery - you can.

The keyboard is just a tad smaller than the Libretto. The screen is too,
but it's best to check the pictures.

I'm amazed JVC could get a PIII mobile processor WORKING in something that
small (as well as having everything else) ... I do find it curious though
that with all the cooling that thing must have (I assume it'll have vents
at the bottom as well as on the side) that on the photos page that laptop
is shown in what appears to be a ready-to-use state, INSIDE a case (which
is blocking both the side and bottom vents) ... heh

heh, dunno about that case picture, maybe they run it in a fridge :-)

The entire bottom of the PC seems to be a heat-sink, and it's full of holes as
you would imagine!
-Yet, it's very quiet, and has average heat for a mobile Pentium 3.

It really is a tight package, the only thing it lacks is WiFi - but slap in
a Sony ultra slim (5mm sticking out!) WiFi card and it's complete.

[LIB] [lib] AR Film again

Subject: [lib] AR Film again

Well, I've just spent an instructive 10 minutes trying to get the AR film to
stick.

OK, I didn't realise that I'd peeled off the protective label from the front
and was trying to stick a non-sticky thing to a non-sticky thing with no
success at all, did I?

I was getting concerned it looked a little scratched...

mode=homerD'Oh!/mode

I am going to sit in a corner now.

[LIB] Proxim RangeLAN-DS wireless NIC on a Lib70(Win98)?

2002-07-23 Thread steve steve

Date: Tue, 23 Jul 2002 17:30:10 -0700 (PDT)
From: steve steve [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Subject: Proxim RangeLAN-DS wireless NIC on a Lib70(Win98)?

Hi everyone,

I have tried to install a Proxim RangeLAN-DS wireless
NIC on my Lib70. I read someones note about the PCMCIA
sockets on the Libs supporting 3.3V and 5V. How does
this work in Win98? Will it automatically feed a 3.3V
card the correct voltage. I found the following note
at the Proxim web site. Is this relevant? Have I just
fried the card?

##___##
Proxim Tech Note
RangeLAN-DS 8433 PC Card: Installation Problem on
Windows 2000 Toshiba Laptops
Products Affected: Harmony 802.11b PC Card and
RangeLAN-DS PC Card
Symptom: The card does not install properly in a
Toshiba laptop running Windows 2000.
Problem: The Toshiba PC Card controller (ToPIC) may
power 3.3-volt cards at 5 volts.
Solution: Install the fix that Microsoft has made
available on its Web site at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q265296.

After you install the fix, try to reinstall the card.
The Toshiba PC Card controller may have damaged the
card. If you cannot install the card after applying
the fix, fill out an RMA request form at
http://www.proxim.com/support/forms/rmareg.html to
return the card for repair.
##___##

Note I am running Window 98 not 2000 as above.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Cheers,

Steve
(who is proud to say he received his PhD at the
weekend and it was written on the Lib70!)
